Noticing the wink, he grinned back at her, ruffling his hair to cover up the wound. It's not Barbossa I'm worried about. Turning away from her, he faced the sea as Nat steered the ship towards port, head held high.

Aww come on Jade. Since when have I cared who watches me? That much was true, in whatever way you looked at it. He had never been a very private person, unlike Jade who actually had an image of herself to keep up. His image wasn't important to him, because although he had a very sleazy side, he could be intimidating and dangerous, but also pretty sweet if the occasion called for it. That was why he was able to get on with people so well...

Oh, she'd skin him alive and make him watch as she cut out his entrails... Which would be good fun, actually. It looked like a good idea, moving away to continue on their voyage while he stocked up.

Smirking at her, Merr chuckled softly. His advantage? How so? What can he do to relieve you of your ship, your crew, your honour? Everyone on the Pearl knows of our relationship, yet we would still fight for you with our lives. Not from fear, but from friendship and love... Loyalty without hesitation. He has nothing compared to what you have. Stroking her cheek, he grinned reassuringly, a purr in his voice yet still a sense of pride.

Oh Jade. You know that would never happen. We're more loyal than you give us credit for. Smiling at her, he patted her on the back, wishing that she didn't want them to be so secretive. Barbossa wasn't that dangerous, not like his father. Merr made him look like a little lost lamb when he was in a bad mood, and he even made it look easy.

Chuckling softly, he nodded at her as she spoke. So Jade... How long are we going to pretend that we're just a normal Captain and First Mate? I hate the secrets... Hugging her close to his chest, he rubbed her back, not caring that Barbossa was watching them. If he didn't like that Merr was comforting Jade when she was speaking of her father, then perhaps he would have to go and hug him too... Merr was pretty comfortable doing anything, more so than Baby Barbossa. Depending on his reaction to the couple, Merr would either make it as comfortable or as awkward as it took.

And they could handle Barbossa. Really, the only other person she had to worry about apart from Barbossa was Nat, but he could easily be disposed off.
