Dylan
Dylan tried to scream, but that doesn't work out underwater.
Yes,
underwater.He was utterly confused.
Where am I? How'd I get here? Where is Rose? Those questions were swimming around in his head, the same as he was swimming in circles trying to escape a watery death.
He needed oxygen, pronto. But his arms refused to move, and he watched in anguish as his golden sword shimmered, before floating down until it was just a golden speck.
A woman faintly chuckled behind him, and Dylan turned to see a fair-skinned lady with billowing black hair and blue eyes.
Water Nymph? The woman nodded at Dylan. "You can breathe underwater." As she spoke, iridescent bubbles floated out of her mouth, making her voice all gargled and exaggerated. But even so, her voice was beautiful, like silk.
Dylan, wearly held his breath for seconds longer, but just before his lungs imploded, he took a deep breath, and saw.. that he could breathe. "How is this possible?" Dylan was surprised by his own voice; it sounded nothing like it did on land.
The lady shook her head, and refused to reply. "There are dark forces at play. We only have a short amount of time before you regain consciousness in the mortal world, so listen to me." She paused, before continuing. "You must make your way east, to New York."
"New York? Like, the city?"
"Not exactly. You will find that your friend Rose will know the way."
Dylan was utterly confused. "But Rose doesn't even know where we're going."
"Just keep traveling east, until you find the place. It won't be easy, but you can do it, young half-blood. There you will find answers no one but yourself can answer." The Nymph swam forward gracefully before planting a gentle kiss on Dylan's forehead.
Dylan pulled away. "Wait, what? Half-what? And how could I answer something when I don't even understand what's going on?!" His bubbles that floated out of his mouth were quick and jagged, not like the silk lady's smooth velvet voice.
"I have to go. Remember, Dylan; I am always here. I just need to be summoned."
And with that, Dylan returned to the real world, his head resting in Rose's lap. "I-I'm okay.." he croaked, before dodging behind a tree and retching. "Let's continue on. We have a change of plans." He found that his Imperial Gold sword had resumed its place in his pocket, in its aureus form.
