((Wow. Nice! I wish I could figure out how to color-coordinate all my forum stuff. xD And an early day is when all my classes end a few minutes early, eventually cutting enough time out of the day to let me get out about an hour earlier than I usually do. ^^))
Rose
Rose's shoulders tensed as the city's landscape faded abruptly into the more... ghetto... part of Manhattan. It was obviously not a safe place to be; Rose could pick out the gang-bangers as easily as she could pick out a red flower in a blue bunch. Squaring her rigid shoulders, she picked up the group's pace, looking around at the passing bystanders challengingly. Not the best idea, a little voice in her mind said.
She told the little voice to shut up.
Her motto had been for a very long time that, when in doubt, fierce and pissed-looking means you don't get messed with. Well, it seemed to work this time, as they made it to the subway unscathed but tired. "I'm beat," Jake said as he slumped against the ticket barrier that blocked the way to the subway. Rose could hear the trains moving through the cavernous tunnels, their horns peeling out long notes occasionally. She payed for their tickets (the price wasn't too bad, only 20 bucks for the lot of them) and motioned for them to move. Jacob groaned and peeled himself off the booth, stepping sideways through one of those twisty things you go through at places like these and waiting amongst the rest of the crowd for the next shuttle to come by.
