< ( Leaxa, God of Death, He / Him ) >

"Don't feel obligated to get the god shells.. I'm sure he wouldn't mind not receiving an offering," he tried to comfort him, but he knew in the end, he was likely sounding rude and needed to lay off. Even though he was the god of death, it wasn't his place to say what he had been saying. Leaxa hoped that Tobyn wouldn't mind it too much, especially since he wasn't done talking quite yet. "To be honest.. He probably appreciates the prayers that you do say! I don't imagine his work to be the most appreciated, so.. he probably appreciates the things that you do have to say and likes to hear what you do tell him about."

Tobyn Ambrose

"Aha, you speak as if you know the god personally." Tobyn responded, letting out a half chuckle. "Sometimes I wonder if death gets as lonely as people do. I mean, of course, it's a silly thought - there's a whole religion, after all - but.. I don't know. It just feels like it would be the nature of ruling such a subject."

"Ah, sorry.. I'm not trying to act that way, just trying to, well.. I don't really know, view it from another perspective?" He let out a quiet and short sigh. "I imagine the god of death, and the gods of other malicious elements, to be quite lonely people. Though, I believe they would be more courteous and understanding than the gods of more favorable elements."

The crow moved the be perched on Tobyn's shoulder rather than continue to perch on his arm.

"Malicious feels like the wrong word." Tobyn responded gently. "I mean, I understand that it's the term used to describe them, but... There's nothing malicious about death. Death is that inevitable force that everyone comes to eventually, the invisible finishing line that gives most lives a meaning. It's the warm embrace after a hard struggle, the gentle whispers on the wind that you did what you could and now's the time to rest, to care for yourself."

"I believe people who think the god of death wishes to rush us are wrong. We'll all fall under death's care someday - and he'll be waiting, I'm sure, with arms open wide." He felt his face flush red as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Ah, that's what my line of worship is centered around, anyway. I don't mean to trample other beliefs."

Leaxa suddenly stopped him from walking. He pulled his hand away from his and silently hugged him. It was the best description he had heard anyone explain him and his work in before.. and it made his heart warm. He smiled as he thought over it. "I love that interpretation.. I apologize if I was talking over what you believed. I wasn't trying to."

"It was a gorgeous description though... really," he slipped away and looked at him for a moment before facing away again. Leaxa began walking again, though he still beamed over it.

Tobyn Ambrose

Tobyn's heart sunk as Leaxa stopped walking and pulled away from him, worried that he'd offended the other man somehow. He opened his mouth to apologize, only to be surprised by a hug which he warmly accepted. He entwined arms with him again as soon as he slipped away, smiling at the compliments over his interpretation.

As they approached his home, Tobyn looked a little nervous, worried about what he might find after nearly a week of not being there. Though Leaxa assured him that he'd tended to his farm, he was still unprepared for how well he'd done it. First line of business, though - prayer. He reluctantly pulled away from the god and said, "I'd like for that quiet now, please."

Leaxa didn't say anything word, instead, he silently nodded. He was excited to hear what he had to say to him, but he only expressed that excitement through a darling twinkle in his eyes. He wondered what he would pray about.. His sudden escape? His farm? Not dying? Leaxa was unsure if he could die, so maybe not that...

He was also curious about how he would react to his work on the farm. Taking care of the fence was such a long and tedious task, but he was proud over it. Felt accomplished whenever he looked at it and he knew the cattle weren't going to be lured through that anytime soon. Leaxa felt quite proud over his work with the cattle as well, but he felt as though his repairs on the fence would be the most appreciate.

Tobyn Ambrose

Tobyn offered an appreciative smile as Leaxa stayed quiet, entering his home and making sure that his companion followed in after him before settling down to pray. He let the raven explore as it liked, not worrying too much about it.

Dearest death, best of news! After nearly a week, I've been rescued from the cliffside.

The bird you sent made the experience much more bearable than it began, and I have to say it's truly a stunning creature, with eyes that rival the sea itself. I can't thank you enough for the kindness - I think I might have gone mad without it.

Galileo was the one to rescue me, of course, and I can't say I'm surprised that his brilliance extends far enough to include searching for me in the storm. Without him me and your gift would have been stuck for far longer, and though I can't starve I'd be lying if I said I'm not looking forward to a meal after this whole ordeal.

I know Galileo doesn't worship you primarily as I do, but I hope you look upon him as kindly as you do me - he's the only person who I know that truly came to search, and he went above and beyond. He even looked after my farm for me, in the middle of a storm! Of course, I'm not sure how well he did yet, but just the fact that he took the time to take care of my animals and my home, even in such dreadful weather is just... Breathtaking.

I don't have any shells to offer, not just yet, but I hope to gather you some when I can bare to go back there. Rest assured that more thanks will be on the horizon!
    Your faithful servant, Tobyn.

Leaxa's heart glowed with a golden sense of pride. While he was thrilled at the level of appreciation that Tobyn had expressed, he also felt satisfied and accomplished. He hoped this wonderful feeling wouldn't go away when Tobyn was inspecting what work he had done on the farm.

Leaxa felt lucky to have someone like Tobyn worshipping him. While others did appreciate him and even praise him, no one else was quite like his most favored servant, Tobyn.

Tobyn Ambrose

Tobyn was quiet for a few moments after praying, as if letting it sink in, before he got up and had a brief stretch. He felt a little more at ease, now that he had Leaxa nearby and he'd prayed properly for the day. "Right," he began, breaking the silence. "Before I change into some dry clothes, I should probably go check on the herd and see what work you did with the fence. Coming with?"
