"I wouldn't want anyone crying over me dad, seriously," Ikari said, his voice muffled by Syn's shoulder. "Trust me. But don't help me as an outsider Dad, because I survived out there at a lot of a younger age. I can do it now again. And when I was younger, I made my way back, so I'll make my way back again if I get banished. But dad," he sighed, "Sasaki said it herself. This is punishable by death, and they all believe I killed Head Elder Mandori when I didn't. So I feel I'll have a higher penalty, though I don't want to admit it. I won't lie to myself or anyone, Dad. I just can't."

It was a bit of a struggle, but when Talon had taken Sasaki with him to the other elders, they began to debate punishment for drowning. They were skeptical about Talon being the new protector, but when he revealed the incantation, he cleared his authenticity. He did kill an elder though, to punishment must be bestowed... Talon had stuck to his story of the Mandoris having drowned, but he slipped up and mentioned that he had pushed Kelson in after Jessalyn when it was Ikari who did that. They just had to wait now, sitting on the steps of the counsel's housing grounds.

"Of course not, Son, but we might not be able to manage without you. I'm injured from that squabble with demons and this raid. You are nearly healed. Someone needs to help your mother protect the house and Narca-" Syn stopped talking. He was coughing now, Ryzo frightened enough to jump from Syn's arms and lower his head as he backed away. Blood spilled from Syn's mouth and Lora shrieked with worry, running to her husband's side and rubbing his back.

"Dad, just calm down and relax," Ikari said frantically, pulling away from his dad. "You will manage. Now I'm going to the Elders to sort this all out." And without another word, Ikari jogged out the door, towards the Elder grounds. Once there, and seeing Talon and Sasaki, Ikari narrowed his eyes. "What did you say?" Ikari said skeptically. He was torn between lying to the Elders and saving himself, or telling the truth and feeling relieved he didn't have to live with that secret. "Did you lie? Because if you did, I don't care that I may get banished setting this straight."

"I told them that the Mandoris drowned. Kind of slipped out that I pushed in Kelson, but it's not really a lie. I did push him... Just not into the water." Talon said, laughing pathetically at himself. "He's telling the truth about what he told the Elders. They are thinking up a punishment now since they can't kill or banish Talon for the role he holds now." Sasaki said with a light sigh, her tail winding around her waist.

"It is partially a lie, and as much as I don't want to get banished, I want to set it straight that I pushed Kelson in. It's not right," Ikari growled, turning on his heel and walking straight into the building before his mind could tell him not to. He went straight up to where he knew the Elders would be, and flung the door open, a glint in his eye. "I pushed Kelson into the water," he said before anyone could ask what he was doing. "I pushed him in, and he drowned because of me."

Sasaki had gotten up and ran up behind Ikari, folowing him in and holding his sleeve to try and get him to stop, but he spoke before she could get to him. Talon stayed on the steps, listening through the door. The Elders exchanded looks before looking at Ikari again. "And you are?" Elder Marnuk Luire, the fox, asked boldly, looking Ikari upand down. He didn't recognize the boy. The four other elders chattered amongst themselves quietly to try and remember the boy as well as figure out a suitable punishment for his action.

"Ikari Sylden, the boy that was said to have killed Head Elder Santrose Mandori. Btu I never killed him, I was a scapegoat. But that's not important. What's important is that I killed off a bloodline, and I deserve whatever punishment may come." Ikari held his gaze with Marnuk, but inside he was relieved. It was as if a massive weight had been removed from his shoulders. He had confessed his sin, and now he felt freer. He didn't even notice Sasaki behind him.

This came to be a surprise to all five remaining elders. The exchanged looks of surprise and thought in unison. "Well... This has been the first anyone has ever confessed to something as serious as this... And both of you look quite strong..." Elder Luire looked to the other elders as he spoke. Elder Opheli Pyronus nodded, her brilliant smile shining. She was the kind one, however she was the snake of the elders. Literally. "You and Talon will be repairing the west side. The operationg should take a few weeks seeing that there is a lot of damage, and you will be doing it, just the two of you. Suitable for your kind of noble upbringing, wouldn't you say?" She said, smiling. "It would be a shame to kill you off, Mr. Sylden." Elder Pyronus said rather cheerfully.

From outside, Talon groaned a little. He saw the damage... Homes torn, gardens flooded. Weapons that were lifted by the water damaged the wall as well and cutting logs that size was going to be a pain.

Ikari bowed respectfully. "Thank you, Elder Pyronus, Elder Luire, Elder Kendre, Elder Handet, and Elder Dreyendor. This means a lot." He got out of his bow and smiled genuinely at them before turning around and noticing Sasaki for the first time. Instantly, his face lit up and he hugged her, tears of happiness spilling down his face. "I don't have to lose you," he whispered to her, his hands tangled in her hair as he hugged her. Breaking away and quickly wiping the tears away, he intertwined their fingers and said, "Let's tell Mom, Dad, Ryzo, and Anna. Come on." He began walking out of the Elder house.

Sasaki smiled happily at the news that they weren't going to get tortured, killed or banished, but she didn't expect Ikari to turn to her and cry. When he hugged her, she blushed and hugged him back, heaing Elder Pyronus giggle along with Elder Handet. The two female elders were more like mothers gossiping about their children... Sasaki then felt Ikari's fingers intertwine with hers and she smiled, walking with him. "They ought to be happy, but I'm not sure about Talon. I could hear him groan from in here." She whispered up to Ikari. leaning her head on his shoulder.

Talon was on th steps, sighing a little. He was actually hoping to get off scott free, but of course not. He would have to get to work, shouldn't he... Of course. Before Sasaki and Ikari could come out, he bolted for the western hills, just to survey the damage.
