Tobias Asiali
location: Mountain

Tobias was suddenly thrown backwards as a loud crack paired with a blinding light issued from the gem. He landed hard and rolled a few times to absorb the impact. As the light faded he saw the shifter holding half the gem, and jogged forward to claim his half, his side glowing softly under the skin as bruises healed before they could even form. "I was wondering how we were going to split that" He said, turning to the shifter with a grin. "I'm Tobias, by the way. My friends call me Toby. Can I call you something other than "shifter"? "

Aiko Canmor
female - dragon shifter - location: mountain

Aiko was knelt by the podium where the gem formerly stood, seeming transfixed with how the light glinted off of the shard. She snapped out of her trance when the healer spoke up all of a sudden. She definitely did not hiss in surprise thank you very much. She stayed quiet as the healer spoke, watching him with an untrusting eye. Tobias huh? Better than just calling him "healer" all the time. She let out a small huff and rose back up to stand, wings folded neatly behind her. She gave Tobias a glance up and down before finally giving up and answering his question. "..Aiko. You can call me Aiko." That was all the shifter said before she left, eager to just get out of this cave.

Aiko. It was a nice name. She turned to leave before he could say anything to follow it up. He followed her back through the cave in silence, hearing her curse softly to herself as she tried to fit through the tiny spaces left by the rock. She hadn't said anything about his offer, nor requested to see proof of any of it. He had the gem now, and Sasha wasn't far from the cave entrance, but... Toby! he reprimanded himself You're not serious thinking of going back on your word. She wouldn't have accepted the offer if they didn't need it. And anyway, are you forgetting that she's a freaking dragon?? She'd kill you. He felt ashamed that the thought had even crossed his mind. He followed Aiko back to the cave entrance, where night had well and truly fallen. He turned to her "Best of luck, Sun Walker"

Aiko was being much less careful on her way out as opposed to how much she tried not to bump herself on anything when she first entered the cavern. All she wanted was to get out. When she eventually popped out of the cave entrance she had scrapes and scratched all over her, but she couldn't care less about that. She fluttered her wings to get them to settle more comfortably, turning to Tobias as he spoke. She gave him a curt nod, eyes up to the horizon. "Likewise." She crouched herself down, ready to leap into the air to get home when a drop of water hit her nose... then another... and soon it was a straight up thunderstorm.
It just had to rain now, didn't it? Aiko snarled in irritaion but leapt off the rock anyway, gliding down the mountain with practiced ease. Problem was, there was no way she could get home in this weather. Just gliding down she could do, but flying in a thunderstorm? Not happening.

Tobias Asiali
location: Mountain

Tobias moved to heal the scratches that covered the dragons sides, but before he could do anything, she took off into the storm. He frowned after her, imagining that these were not ideal conditions for flying. Still, she seemed capable and strong, he didn't fear for her safety. He sat inside the cave, cradling the gem and thinking over his next move. He might be able to travel in this, but lightning and trees did not mix well and his route home was through a forest. The gem was secured, so there was no particular rush to get back anyway. His mind made up, he deposited the gem into his backpack, and set off down the mountain to grab Sasha. It wasn't fair at all to leave the horse out in this.

After some considerable coaxing up the mountain not built for their hooves, Tobias had Sasha inside the cave with him. He un-tacked them and pulled the fire starter out of the saddle bags, the short walk down the mountain had left him soaked through and freezing, but to his dismay, the kit was damp. "*****" he groaned. He ran his hand through his hair "nothing to be done" he sighed. Turning to his saddle bags once again, he pulled out food for him and Sasha, and retrieved the thin blanket he had wrapped around the gem for protection. Sasha had laid down, and he tucked himself against the horses stomach, bracing himself against the storm.

Aiko paced back and forth on the ground for a good while, having shifted somewhere during her thoughts with the gem held gently between her teeth. The best thing she could do would be to just wait out the storm and just hope it didn’t last for too long. A cave dug into the mountain, miraculously large enough for the beast to fit in. The entrance itself was a bit small for her but it was nothing a bit of pent up rage couldn’t fix. She curled up into a ball similar to how a cat would settle down and placed the gem delicately under a wing. Now it was just to play the waiting game.

Tobias Asiali
location: Mountain

Dawn broke and Tobias woke up slowly, willing his frozen limbs to move. Sasha was already awake but seemed content lying where they were. In a hurry, he checked his pack for the gem. Still safe. He rewrapped it, tacked Sasha up, and headed for home.

It was a shorter journey than the way there, since he'd ridden the route before. Upon his return, he returned Sasha and went straight to Charlotte's office. "I'm Tobias Asiali, the healer? I'm here to see Charlotte. Just tell her it's me, she'll know what it's for" he explained to the young guard. The guard vanished, and a few moments later, Charlottes door opened
"Tobias! I trust you bring good news?" He rocked his head
"I bring news. Good first:" He opened his pack and pulled out the gem. "I'm sure you felt the power from it" The gem still gave off a faint power, although it felt much more faint. Given that the people around him didn't seem as effected as he was in the cave, he assumed it was because it had been removed from it's resting place. It was still just as powerful though, he was sure. He could feel the energy coursing through his veins. "This is only half of the gem, and that's the bad news: There was a Sun Walker. She only just beat me to it, and she was a Dragon shifter. it's a wonder I got away with half of it, I almost didn't get away at all."
"That is regrettable indeed. But if what you say is true then I do not fault you, and I commend your efforts. You've done a great service to me, and to The Blessed. We thank you." Tobias felt his chest swell with pride. He stammered out a reply.
"I'm just repaying the kindness you and The Blessed have always shown me. Taking me in when I had nowhere to go." Charlotte smiled at him and nodded, then placed a hand on the gem. Her eyes grew wide and she gasped, feeling the energy flow through her.
Tobias, this... this is incredible. I'll have the blacksmith modify our bracelets to include a shard of this incredible gem. It's already been split in half once, so we know cutting it doesn't diminish the power. I will make the announcement tomorrow. I think these bracelet will be granted to our youth when they complete their training. You're not quite there yet, but I think I can safely say you've earned it. Rest well, Tobias. Tomorrow, we shall celebrate in your honour

He stumbled back to his room in a daze, a thousands thoughts flying through his head. He'd done it! He'd proven himself, and most importantly, he'd made Charlotte and the whole guild proud! He collapsed into bed, feeling weak without the gems effects, and tired from his journey. He was asleep almost before his head hit the pillow.

Aiko Canmor
female - dragon shifter - location: mountain // Sun Walkers guild

The storm had cleared up come the time Aiko woke up, thank god. The first thing she did was to raise her wing and check if the gem was still there, which it was. The dragon breathed out a sigh of relief and retrieved the gem with a claw before she got up, ready to head back home at last.

She got distracted a few times on the way home with stalls from a nearby town, picking up a few goodies before she arrived back at the guild. She was met with her friends, the chimera and the girl, (literally) running into her. Guess she was stuck here for an hour then, huh?
It was while before she could go and see Jordana, what with giving her friends their gifts and having to wait until Jordana would have an empty office. Eventually, the door opened and Aiko slipped inside. "Aiko! So, how did it go?" She tilted her hand in a so-so motion, taking the gem out of her bag before the guild leader could say anything. "So I've got both good 'n bad news. This is the gem though. Try puttin' your hand on it, you'll feel it's power." Jordana rested a palm on the gem, raising her eyebrows at the sensation of energy rushing through her. "Bad news is, this is only half of the thing. There was a member of The Blessed there, took the other half of the thing- BUT! But!" she quickly added at the end in a placating way, not wanting to face the wrath of the fiery (ha) guild leader. "I didn't let him get away without promisin' he'd help us in the infirmary. His power is healing."
Jordana leant back in her seat as she mulled over the information, but she didn't seem angry like Aiko had thought. Instead she met the dragon shifter with one of her trademark grins. "It is a shame that The Blessed got some of the gem too, but good job from getting something out of them from it too... and not for killing the guy. I'd never hear the end of that from Charlotte," she chuckled. "You truly have done the guild a huge help. The power doesn't diminish with size, right?" At Aiko's head shake 'no' she continued. "Perfect! We'll have necklaces made with a small fragment of the gem in them for all the guild's members. For now though, go rest Aiko. You've done more than enough for your first real mission. We'll celebrate tomorrow."

Aiko made her way back up to her room, happy from Jordana's praise but not as glad with herself. It was in a dragon's nature to take claim to anything they wanted, and loosing half of that gem? She saw that as failure. At least she'd help the guild heal as a side affect of it. Still lost in her thoughts, the shifter fell into an uneasy sleep.

Tobias Asiali
location: Blessed Stronghold

"Tobias, It's Emma", He woke up to the telepath's voice in his head. "I'm not reading anything, I promise. David told me to get you up! Everyone is gathering in the square, there's set to be an announcement- there's a whole feast planned!" Tobias grinned "Thanks Emma" He thought, knowing that she'd hear him. He and Emma had been close since he joined the guild. They got along fine for the first month or so, but then she'd broken her leg badly, before he was qualified to help with the healing. He couldn't bear to be near her, so he'd sit in the garden outside the infirmary, just far enough away to reduce her pain to a dull ache in his leg, and just close enough to allow her telepathy to work. From then on, they were firm friends, even after she made a full recovery.

Tobias pulled himself out of his thoughts and into his clothes, grabbing his small pack but leaving his knives. He ran down the dorm stairs and emerged into the square, where tables were set out and coloured streamers put up "Emma, what time is it?" he thought, hoping she was still listening "and where are you?" he added, seeing no sign of the tall woman's afro.
"It's 3pm, sleepyhead!" she shouted from behind him, flicking him on the back of the head "where were you? Does this have anything to do with you?"
"Emma!" he shouted, pulling her into a hug. "This has everything to do with me, and I'll tell you about it after all this" Emma nodded, then closed her eyes for a moment.
"Charlotte wants you" she said as she opened her eyes and pointed towards the makeshift stage in the centre of the square. Tobias nodded and headed that way. Seeing him nearing the stage, David whispered something to Charlotte. She then stood up and raised her hands to silence the crowd.

"Blessed. We gather today in celebration of a wonderful gift. A gem. Whose powers increase our own. We will soon ask for your bracelets to modify to include a small piece of this." At this she held up her hand, displaying the small gem nestled in the centre of her bracelet. "This will help us all, from our messengers-" Tobias saw Emma tip her head at this "-to our farmers-" a small cheer went up from, Tobias assumed, the farmers. "-and our medics." She turned to Tobias, still stood by the side of the stage. "Speaking of medics, Our thanks to Tobias, our top student medic. He bravely ventured out, defeating a Sun Walker to bring this home for us!" Tobias rocked his head at the stretching of the truth which suggested he and Aiko had reached anything other than a grudging truce, but walked up on stage nonetheless. He blushed as the crowd cheered, unaccustomed to the attention. "Here, is your new bracelet" Charlotte removed his old one, and as she slid the gem over his wrist, a cheer went up from the crowd. Tobias waved one more time before taking leave of the stage, and weaving his way back to Emma, receiving pats on the back and small cheers from people as he passed.

Emma clearly knew that Tobias was itching to get away from the crowd, as she flung her arm around him, leading him away from the square "A Sun Walker?? You have to tell me everything, dude!" She laughed. Tobias relaxed into his friend as they walked away from the party beginning behind them.

Aiko Canmor
female - dragon shifter - location: Sun Walkers guild

Aiko was awoken by a large crash outside her room, followed by a quick curse. Well that was new. The shifter groaned and tried to rub the sleep from her eyes as she lazilly pulled herself up and out of bed to see what the commotion was. Turned out it was about a quarter of the guild, right outside her door. "C'mon!" one of the group grinned, a young salamander. She scoffed but played along, letting the small lizard drag her to the main hall where the rest of the guild were all waiting.

The hall had been decorated up, banners and streamers hung up all over the place and hung over the large, arching ceiling. She had to give it to whoever had been in charge of decorating, they'd done a good job. Aiko was ushered onto a makeshift stage set up on the far end of the hall, in the eyeline of the countless tables piled high with food and other frivolities. Jordana gestured for her to stand beside her and cleared her throat, waiting for the chatter throughout the hall to quiet down.

"Sun Walkers," she began in a voice that demanded respect. "I've called you all here today to celebrate our newest achievement. We have recieved a gem that will strengthen our own powers, so long as it is nearby. We will shortly be handing out a necklace with a peice of it attached to all of you. This will help us to reach new heights as a guild, from the smallest of us to the largest. Speaking of which, it would be foolish of me not to mention how we got our hands on this gem." She turned to face Aiko, a glint of proudness in her eyes. "Aiko ventured out for our gem and even defeated a member of The Blessed in the process. Thanks to her, I'm sure we'll be able to become the best guild out there. Now, eat and celebrate!" The crowd cheered and showered Aiko in back pats and praises as she stepped down from the stage, which she ate right up.

It was a few hours later when Aiko slipped away. That Blessed member had a debt to repay after all. She ran out front, shifting into a dragon as she leapt off the ground and made her way to their rival guild.
There was a large area out front which she landed on, stables lining the area. She could try to make a discreet entrance, but where was the fun in that? She didn't really care if anyone saw her. People probably had done already, even as she was flying ahead to make her landing. Now, where was that healer?
