The gentle and kind but wild and loud one shook his head. The pretty, slender and long legged black one said "I guess not. You've smelled others?" he asked. "I'd assume none of them were your friend, then." He shook his head and looked around a bit, then looked back. A moment later, there was an "ooph!" coming from him...

He looked down to see a young wolf he almost didn't recognize. "Mei?!" he then yelped, and looked to see his mother too.

The happy and seemingly lucky female smiled as she watched her offspring. Mei had always idolized her big brother. It was no different to this Fay, and the fiery sometimes cold one was happy. Blue eyes of the black wolf then looked to the stranger.

The shy and nervous but loyal and playful young one giggled. "Big brother!" the blue gray eyes black female cried. She nuzzled him a bit, then stepped back. She saw the stranger and, tilting her head, asked "Who are you?"

Ryder eased her weight off him so she could sit comfortably. He knew that so far she had enjoyed his company, and he hers, she seemed like a sweet she-wolf, but he couldn’t abandon his travel companion. When Lemi looked him in the eye, it was unnatural. Wolves more often than not saw it as either a challenge, or a sense of intimacy, but he held her gaze. If that would make her comfortable while she was vulnerable, then it was alright. "I think I know what you’re asking," he said. "But I can’t leave Kaz on his own or he'll get himself killed one of these days. I know you were offended earlier by my words, and some of the things Kaz will say will be far worse than what I could pull off. If you think you can handle it though, the three of us could travel together, form our own little group. Better hunting, good company more or less, and safety in numbers."

Kaz snorted back a laugh. "I'm not THAT bad," he scoffed. The fact was, he said it how he saw it, and that was that. He didn’t care what anyone else thought, and in a battle, he could be quite brutal with enemies, but with those he considered allies, while he was brash, he wasn’t particularly cruel. "Ignore him. He likes to make a big deal out of it. ONE TIME, Ryder! One time and now I’ve got a bad rep."

"No. If one of them were my friend, I would’ve been there instead of here. He and I have been together since…forever. It’s hard to remember a time when he wasn’t there." He wasn’t afraid to be bluntly honest about where his priorities lie. It had been Hunter who had ditched him though. Kade could only hope for his safety. He followed Kyuen's gaze to a much younger she-wolf ahead, staring up at them. "Kade," he introduced himself. "I’m nobody important, just a wanderer in these parts. I won’t hurt you," he promised.

Kass shot her a smile, sweet, almost artificially so. "Don’t worry. You’re so awkward, Jessa. Just relax and go with the flow. There’s no need to be nervous," she promised, then started into the forest, focusing on taking in their surroundings. Seeking out prey scent. There was the scent of small game mostly, rather than the medium game they had discussed searching for. Their luck may be out.

He then looked to his little sister, and smiled. "Kade, these are my sister and mom; Mei and Kirra." Turning to Kirra, he asked his mom "Wheres dad, why are you out here?"

Ryder relaxed. In hindsight, it had been bold of him to assume, but he wasn’t used to this, and yes, maybe he worried a little too much, but what else was to be expected? "Kaz, be nice." He flicked his friend with his tail before focusing on Lemi again. "Well, you’re certainly good company, and we could certainly use that. And it seems like if you’ve been wandering on your own, with how small you are, it’d do you some good to have help with hunting bigger game when it shows up, and protection when it’s required. Seems like a win-win to me."

Kade dipped his head in respect as the older she-wolf approached. The mother. Always respect one's elders, and she’d done a fine job of raising her young, the way Kyuen spoke warmly of her. "I…uh…well actually, Kyuen and I just met now. But…we haven’t fought, so I guess that counts for something?" One couldn’t be immediate friends with someone. It was impossible. That wasn’t how it worked. But with time, perhaps this was a wolf he could call his friend someday. "Well, you guys are welcome to travel with me if you like, but I have no idea where I’m going. I just wander."

Amusement flickered across Kass' expression. The same scents she was picking up. "Well? Does your mouth water for anything in particular? If it’s small, I’m sure we could find a couple. If not, we keep looking." Kass herself had eaten quite recently, and this she-wolf needed prey far more regularly. Kass could go a couple days without comfortably, but a she-wolf during a pregnancy? She was eating not for one, not for two, but for at LEAST three at a time for the rest of the carrying period. Feeding her and her growing pups had to be made the priority here.

Kade stared down at the ground. Was it wise? Yes. He should take all the help he could get at this point, because he had made no progress on his own. "His name's Hunter, he’s a whitish yellow guy, average sized, with kinda greenish brown eyes," Kade described. He had figured his friend would’ve stuck out like a sore thumb amongst all the greenery, but he’d quickly lost track of the guy, and once Hunter's scent had faded…well, Kade wasn’t exactly the best tracker in the world.

"A whole family of rabbits in this season? I doubt it. Besides. That’d be a whole lot of rabbits, y'know. More than we could possibly eat." Kass chuckled to herself though. "Right, let’s start by getting you a rabbit, then we'll keep wandering a bit and seeing if we get lucky enough to find a sick or injured deer. A juvenile would be perfect too, but they’re often protected by the bigger, healthier ones, and I’m not messing with those. Not when there’s only two of us."

"Oh he won’t, but he'll get better. He just needs to be around wolves who aren’t going to just roll their eyes and take it. Gotta learn to be more sensitive." Ryder was always more amused than annoyed by it, but Kaz could be on the intense side. "Hey, you stick around to be good company and help with the hunting, we’ve got ZERO issues with you. And Kaz and I have been in enough scraps before that we can defend you if need be," he promised.

"Uhhhh…sure, but I lost his scent a bit ago, and the forest is pretty big. He left to find food and just…didn’t come back. So I don’t even know where he would’ve gone first." Kade couldn’t deny he was worried for…a lot of reasons. Just about anything could have happened. Did he even want to know? Yes. No. No, not if something terrible had happened, but he had to regardless. That was his job, as a friend.

Lucas looked incredulously at the other wolf, the fur on his spine raising.
"Share?" He repeated with a growl. "Half of that bird may feed a scrawny thing like you, but I will be taking all of it." He started towards the other wolf, taking up the space that had been made for him. "Unless you can ensure that you can find me something better than this - then, perhaps, I'll let you finish your meal." He growled again. The other wolf had to be a fool if he wanted to share prey - Lucas had never been in a position where he'd shared food and he wasn't about to start now. Still... if the other wolf could hunt well enough to grab a pigeon, maybe he could hunt up another meal just as easily. It may be more useful to keep this newcomer around, rather than chase him off entirely.
