HIGHGARDEN
tawnyrose | molly, queen, 84m, tagged: ploverstar
indentploverstar's words were touching and, perhaps, exactly what tawnyrose needed when highgarden was locked in a war with a rogue group that threatened her clan's very existence. she dipped her head respectfully to ploverstar, happy to have met cloudclan's leader. "yes, i suppose you're right. and we should trust in ourselves more. we've led our clans from so much, and we should credit ourselves for all that we've done," she said. when ploverstar steered the conversation and posed a question about highgarden's deputy, tawnyrose let out a soft laugh. "it's rather complicated, actually. sometimes i think it would easier if we followed traditional clan stuctures, but i didn't create the rules," tawnyrose said with a laugh. "when i became queen, i selected my attendant. and he fills the role of deputy, for the most part. he oversees the clan and organizes patrols. but my daughter will become the next queen when the time comes, and she'll pick her own attendant as well," she explained. "so she's called my heir. but, we also have wardens, who are charged with the overall peformance and oversight for various activities, from training to hunting and scouting. with our clan growing so much over the past several seasons, it became a little much for bluetcrest and i to handle on our own. and the wardens will hold the positions until they decide to step down, or if cherryfire wishes to replace them when her time comes." she ducked her head to smooth down her chest fur. "like i said, it would probably be easier to handle if i just had a deputy, but, thankfully, we've had moons of practice," she said.
squirrelleaf | molly, herbalist, 24m, tagged: creamfoot & dawnrush
indentsquirrelleaf grinned at the pair's reaction to her suggestion, only to let out a laugh when they mentioned a "brushfang." "i think more cats are willing to help out than they'd admit at first. kits are such a source of joy in every clan, it's hard not to want to be near them and take care of them, i think," she said, thinking of how, even in highgarden, such of the largest and most feared knights and wilted seemed to melt at the sight of kits. however, as the mood turned more somber, squirrelleaf ducked her head respectfully. "the life of a clan cat is hard, of course, but i'm sure that the kits' parents and mothers are watching over them, even when they cannot be in the clan any longer. you're not alone."
figspots | molly, rose, 28m, tagged: manateecall & tourbillonpelt
indentfigspots hummed thoughtfully at the thought of the sheer number of cats that the swiftclan warriors had to work to feed every single day, and she sympathized that it wasn't all easy work. "that must be really hard, especially when it's cold," she said softly before shaking his head. "but at least there are also plenty of paws to help out, as well," she said. she glanced around the rest of the gathering, where so many other cats were sharing in their own private converstions, and she looked towards where the clan leaders were seated, and she finally glanced back to manateecall. "do you think you'd ever want to be a leader or deputy one day?" she asked.
QUICKCLAN
cyanstar | tom, leader, 78m, tagged: peridotstar
indent"i'm very glad to hear that," cyanstar said, his tone warm and genuine. "and we've been well, too, thank you. i'm hoping that the warmer weather will bring more rabbits back to the moorland. i could use the chance to stretch my legs during a hunt again, especially after such a bitter leaf-bare. though falconflight said that i'm slowing in my old age," he said with a fond laugh at the very thought of his mate. "otherwise, it's been rather quiet on our front. our medicine cat apprentice recently received his full name, and two of my grandkits passed their final assessments."
lycheewings | tom, medicine cat, 20m, tagged: rootwake
indentlycheewings nodded sympathetically as rootwake spoke about her family, and he tipped his head to one side. "do you still see your mother every now and then?" he asked. it was only much later, after half of his family had passed away, that lycheewings realized how much he had taken for granted, and it brought him even closer to asphodelstorm and dragonsoar as a result. he smiled when rootwake began to tell him about his sister, and he thought how nice it was to know that the sisters had a good relationship, even after all that they had been through. "she sounds like a really, really great cat, and i'm glad that you both got to be together again and live in the same clan," he said earnestly. he couldn't imagine being apart from dragonsoar, and hoped he would never have to. still, he chuckled and tipped his head curiously. "though i'm shocked that she's allowed to keep a mouse around so many clan cats. i'd be worried about an apprentice finding it on its own. but it really does say a lot about who your sister is that she would care about it. it's sweet."
thrushpaw | tom, apprentice, 9m, tagged: beetlepaw
indentwhen thrushpaw recognized that he was in the presence of a fellow-prankster, his eyes lit up and his grin widened. his laugh echoed in the small space that they shared, and his expression shifted to one of respect for the other apprentice. "that's a really good one, you're funny!" thrushpaw laughed, thankful that beetlepaw had bumped into him after all. he took the moment to ponder before lighting up once more. "what's the best joke you've ever pulled on another cat? i'm in need of some new ideas, and you seem like you're a whizz at thinking them up."
rootpaw | molly, apprentice, 8m, tagged: bear
indentwhen bear admitted that he didn't completely remember what his clan's name meant, she giggled, finding the other apprentice very amusing. she nodded along when he began to think through the question. "whatever it means, night is an interesting word, really mysterious. and i'm sure that you'll learn it eventually," she said, letting out another laugh. however, when bear told her that he was trained by their clan's leader, rootpaw's jaw dropped and she looked up at bear with round eyes. "your clan leader is your mentor? that's really amazing, you must have learned so much. cyanstar hasn't taken on apprentice in moons, but everyone says that he was one of the best mentors. you're so lucky," she gushed. she seemed to deflate a bit when bear said that he had no need to learn about swimming or climbing, but she straightened up when he asked about her own training. "let's see, i've learned agility and hunting and fighting," she listed off. "but i didn't really like fighting so much, actually. some of the other apprentices were really excited to try out battle moves, and verglaspetal, my mentor, said i learned it pretty quickly but... it just didn't feel right." though she hadn't told any of her friends or mentor about her feelings, it felt like she could confide in bear for the moment, and she looked to him, as if he could sort out her thoughts for her. "have you ever felt something like that? i wanted to have fun while we were training, and i know it's important but... i don't know, i just can't stop thinking about it."
