new beginnings (1x1 w/ deco and ember1989)

[Ember1989]

“Yeah we can hang out some other time.” Ladynoir said. She hurried back to the cafe. She transformed back and gave Plagg his cheese. “I really hope that’s the only akuma attack today.” She told her kwami as he went to hide in the pocket of her sweater. She then hurried back inside hoping Callum and everyone else was okay.

Brianna had returned to her hiding spot in the back of the building. This was where Callum told her to hide. “First day at work and an akuma had to show up. I really hope everyone is okay.” She sighed. She had thought of going looking for Callum but was sure he’d probably check on her. He definitely seemed to care about her safety. Brianna thought Callum was a very kind person, who hopefully found a hiding spot as well.

Callum felt a bit giddy that ladynoir had accepted his offer to hangout sometime. He did feel a bit bad that he had to leave so quickly but he wanted to get back to work. He ran back into the store pretending to be out of breath as he made his way to the back room to make sure Brianna was okay. He smiled seeing that she was fine and looked unscathed.
“I am glad you are okay!” He said, a bit happy, “I ran into Beetle and he told me to stay where I was so I am sorry I didn’t come back until now…” He apologized, bowing his head a bit. Callum wondered if this whole job thing would work, he didn’t want to have to make excuses to go out and transform every time there was an akuma attack. He just hoped for a moment everyone would be happy and he wouldn’t have to worry about an akuma while at work.

Once everything calmed down, he went back to work. Mostly cleaning so he wouldn’t have to interact with any customers. He was worried that he would get a customer's order wrong and cause them to get mad. He really didn’t want to be the reason why someone got akumatized. He sighed once he had finished cleaning everything. Now he just wanted to hide in the backroom until his shift was over, of course he couldn’t do that so he just stood beside Brianna and helped her with orders, especially the cooking part as overtime he learned that she was not the greatest at that.

“It’s okay really. I stayed hidden the whole time so I don’t even know how everyone else is doing. But I’m glad you’re okay!” Brianna said happy Callum didn’t get hurt or worse akumatized. “It’s okay. I’m sure if you had some emergency come up you wouldn’t have to worry about losing your job. Oh I know! I’ll work an extra few hours and help you if you want.” She added, knowing she probably could help…unless an akuma attack at work were to happen again.


When everything had calmed down Brianna worked hard taking orders and delivering hot beverages to customers. She appreciated Callum cooking. At least when he cooked it smelled good. But Brianna was glad to take orders and make coffe, tea or whatever the customer wanted. She smiled a lot at work and didn’t mind talking to customers. She figured if she talked with them a bit they might be in a more positive mood. Brianna just wanted to make everyone happy so they didn’t have negative emotions while at the cafe. Luckily Beetle’s Lucky Charm fixed any damage that may have been done.

“N-no, you don’t have to do that… Like I said! Beetle told me to stay put and I didn’t want to go against his word.” Callum said not wanting Brianna to have to work overtime. He would rather do it alone than have someone else suffer with him. Not that work was particularly bad or anything, he just found it unfair to ask her to do that with him. If the moment ever presented itself.

Callum prepared a few croissants and bagels that were ordered. He swiftly packaged them up and handed them out to each person. He kept a smile on his face the whole time he was working, despite feeling anxious whenever he had to interact with a customer, he actually found the whole process pretty fun. Oddly enough, he enjoyed serving during the lunch rush. It gave him time to practice his conversational skills. Perhaps Tikki’s advice of acting like Beetle helped him a bit. Though, near the end of his shift he was certainly feeling drained and ready to go home and take a minute to lie down. Not long after, other workers made their way in to relieve him and Brianna of their duties. They were his saving grace as all he wanted to do now was take a nap and hibernate for the rest of the day. Callum sat down in the breakroom and looked on his phone, his parents had texted him about his first day at work. He smiled, replying that it was pretty fun.

He fiddled around with his earbuds before connecting them to his phone. He wanted to say goodbye to Brianna before he left so he went out to go find her. Once he found the brown haired girl he gave her a small wave,
“Um, see ya, I gotta bounce.” He told her a small blush on his face, “B-but um, do you want to exchange numbers?” He asked her with sudden confidence.

“Of course I don’t mind exchanging numbers! I’m on my phone a lot when I’m not busy so feel free to call anytime!” Brianna smiled. After this crazy busy day she was able to make a friend. The same boy she met as Ladynoir. But unlike Ladynoir her eyes were brown, not green. And her hair wasn’t messy like when she was Ladynoir.


“You did a great gob today Callum! I’m sure your parents would love to hear all about it.” Brianna smiled as she felt she was gaining confidence in socializing with people. As Ladynoir it was easy to talk to people. She wore a mask and nobody knew her identity which had to stay secret. “ My parents would be happy to hear I had a great day and made a new friend.” She added. In her sweater pocket she could imagine Plagg rolling his eyes and gagging.

Callum nodded and let out a subtle sigh hearing that Brianna would want to exchange numbers with him.
“R-really? Okay!” He said and reached his phone out of his pocket and read out his number to her. Although, he would probably make little effort to contact her on his own accord since he felt it would be awkward to do so. Though a certain display of confidence was shown earlier when attempting to ask her for it. Perhaps things wouldn’t be so bad after all. Unfortunately for Callum, his appearance had little change when he transformed into Beetle, so he was particularly careful about what he wore. Typically shying away from red he felt it would give him away in an instant.

“Thanks! You too… Um, maybe we can hangout sometime? I gotta go now but maybe sometime after work the next time we have a shift together?” He asked her, glancing at the time, “ah! Yeah, I gotta zoom. I will text you later.” Callum said with a smile as he gathered his things and scurried out the door. A soft grin on his face as he jogged home. Tikki poked her head out of his pocket, she had a proud look on her face.
“Good job, Callum! You were able to make a new friend.” She said before ducking back into his pocket.

“Yeah see you later!” Brianna grinned as she headed home. “ Are we forgetting something? You need to stay away from the colors green, yellow or black and totally don’t wear your hair down. He’s going to think you are Ladynoir, I mean you are but we can’t have anyone know. Not even Callum.” Plagg said quietly. “Just be careful that you don’t fall in love and let the cat out of the bag.” He added.

“You are so paranoid, Plagg. Like I’d tell the biggest secret I have to a friend. But your right. I should at least change how I look and dress. Just in case.” Brianna said as she got home. She did have a sweater that looked like Beetle’s uniform. She then picked out some denim jeans and put her hair up with a red headband. “Nice thinking kid! He won’t recognize you later.” Plagg said. The outfit didn’t look so bad. Once Brianna wore it he wondered what Callum would think. Brianna then went for a shower and relaxed in some Grey sweatpants and a blue long sleeved shirt.

Once he got home, he took a shower and wrapped his hair in a towel and sat on his bed, he scrolled through his phone and saw Brianna’s number. He hesitated as he didn’t know what he should text her. Callum fumbled around with multiple messages, his heart pounded furiously as he tried to to come up with something. He sighed and decided to get dressed in the meantime while he sorted out his thoughts. While he was deciding what to wear to bed, Tikki took it upon herself to formulate a message to Brianna on her own. She hoped it would give him a little boost in confidence and force the two of them to talk more. Using her body she quickly typed out,
“Hi Brianna! It’s me, Callum. I had fun at work with you today.” Followed up by a smiling emoji with a small blush.

Callum emerged from the closet with his hair up and a loose gray t-shirt and some shorts. It was gonna be pretty warm tonight so he decided to dress light. He flicked on his fan and laid on top of his covers, he moved his arm behind his back and pulled his phone out from underneath him. His eyes widened when he realized that a message had been sent for him.
“T-Tikki, did you do that?” He asked as if the answer wasn’t obvious. The ladybug kwami nodded,
“Mhm! I decided you just needed an extra push to get started.”
“B-but what if she thinks it’s weird?"
“Relax, you’ll be fine.” Tikki stated sensing the boy’s alarmed state. Callum took a long breath and sighed and nodded thinking that his kwami was probably correct and he needed to calm down. It wasn’t a big deal and besides, it’s not like Tikki did anything that would give away that he didn’t write the message.

Plagg heard Brianna’s phone buzz. Being the nosy kwami he was he looked at it and saw a text. That girl needs to be more confident that she won’t mess up…okay Plagg let’s try being nice here. the catlike Kwami used his body to reply. Hi Callum! I had fun too. You are a really good cook! Plagg put a smiley face at the end followed by a thumbs up.

Brianna cleared her throat as the Kwami hit send.”Oh hey Brianna! You cooled off now?” He asked hoping she wouldn’t freak out. “I can’t believe you did that!” Brianna said as she was now out of the shower sporting some cool pajamas since she guessed they were in for a warm night. “I mean I guess it was nice of you but you should have asked first.” She added more calm.
