new beginnings (1x1 w/ deco and ember1989)

[Ember1989]

Brianna just hoped Plagg didn’t move from his hiding spot in her purse as she got to work. She smiled at what Callum had said about being old friends. It definitely felt that way to her. Brianna took orders and worked hard to get the order right. Just because she couldn’t cook didn’t mean she would mess up a hot beverage. She greeted every customer with a smile.


Brianna was happy to work with Callum. She only hoped he didn’t think she was Ladynoir. So far she had made no puns, remained calm and tried her hardest to focus on work. Then she wondered if maybe when they weren’t working they could hang out. Maybe exchange phone numbers, just like friends do. It would be nice to have a friend to hang with when she wasn’t working or fighting akumas.

Callum spent most of his time cleaning the back and around the cafe. He had probably mopped the floor more times than he could count. He just really didn’t want to have to take orders and then mess it up and make someone mad. He was always afraid of getting yelled at by a stranger. Making another round with the broom he passed by a table that was in the middle of a heated argument, he was worried that one of them would get akumatized so he stopped by to check on them.
“Is everything alright…?” He asked, his voice getting drowned out by the couple. Callum gulped and tried his best to mediate the situation but it was like neither of them had even noticed him. He sighed seeing as this was going nowhere. Out of the corner of his eye he caught a glimpse of an akuma and scrambled to try and get the couple to calm down.
“D-do you two want more to drink or…?” He asked them, to which he was ignored again. It seemed that the two of them were lost in their own world. Callum didn’t even catch what the two of them were arguing about but it was too late the akuma had gotten the both of them. Callum’s eyes widened as the couple transformed into a villain.
“Oh no…” He said and began to back away from the akumatized couple.

He looked around to see if there was a safe spot he could get Brianna to so he could go and transform.
“U-um, Brianna go hide in the back you should be safe there. I’m going to go get help!” Callum called out to her as he ran out of the building and into an alleyway. Tikki flew out of the pocket of his apron. He sighed,
“And I was hoping that I’d have a chill day and get to hangout with my coworker.” Callum said before transforming. As Beetle he quickly tailed the couple as they seemed to be making people get into arguments, he sighed as this could get violent if the civilians began to fight each other. He waited for Ladynoir before coming up with a plan.

“O-okay..” Brianna said. She felt bad for not being able to help Callum with the couple. She snuck out through the back and ducked behind a dumpster. “You really should have helped your friend. Let’s see if helping Beetle works out better.” Plagg said. “Plagg, Claws out!” Brianna transformed. She didn’t have far to look for Beetle. She found him chasing the akumatized couple.


“Wow I’ve heard of couples fighting but causing innocent civilians to fight, that’s new.” Ladynoir said she used her baton and twirled it fast, creating a barrier between them and the akumatized citizens. “We can’t fight back without a plan. Any ideas?” She asked Beetle as she continued to stall for time.

Beetle stretched as Ladynoir defended them and hummed thoughtfully,
“Yeah, it’s pretty weird. Any idea what caused their akumatization?” He asked, of course he already knew the answer but perhaps Ladynoir caught wind of it herself while she was heading over here.
“That usually gives me a good idea.” He says, pondering for a moment. Callum did catch a glimpse at where the akuma had entered, it was inside of a bracelet the two of them were arguing over at the time. Though, he wasn’t sure how the couple caused people to fight, something of which he would need to observe for himself. However, he wasn’t going to use himself as a pawn to test the methods of the akumatized.
“We should back off for now and see if we can get closer to the akuma.” He told her and threw his yo-yo up so they could get to high ground and away from the fighting citizens. Beetle crouched down as he looked for the duo causing the problem. He squinted a bit and caught a glimpse of where they could be.
“Let’s get closer for now but still out of sight. I’m not quite sure yet…” Beetle says with a small awkward laugh as he rubs the back of his head. He then points in the direction of the akuma with his other hand.

He needed to know if they akumatized people by touch or by a beam of some kind, he had a pretty good idea of what he could do if it was by touch. He just hoped his lucky charm would prove to be useful rather than trivial. Not that it mattered, he trusted that Ladynoir would help him figure out what to do regardless.
“Let’s get going.” He commanded and headed toward the akuma. Beetle watched as it terrorized innocent civilians. Whenever it touched two people at the same time they would begin to fight. He couldn’t help but smirk to himself,
“That’s even better.” He whispered and began to think of a plan.

“I’m thinking a couple started arguing and didn’t listen to anyone’s attempts at ending the argument.” Ladynoir said. Maybe they were just having a bad day…”She added. Ladynoir looked from the akumatized couple to Beetle when he said he had an idea. “Okay. Let’s hear it. I mean it can’t be worse than pretending to be a couple just to get close to that bracelet. I mean I bet that’s where the akuma is. All I have to do is somehow get my claws on it and let you take care of the rest. We should avoid being touched by them too. We may not actually be a couple but we are partners in stopping akumas.”Ladynoir said with a smirk.


I hope Callum went to hide. Wouldn’t want him getting hurt. Ladynoir thought. “Think you can use your Lucky Charm to help us? I bet I can distract the couple while you figure out how your Lucky Charm can help us get that bracelet.” She said.

Beetle nodded listening to the explanation Ladynoir gave him,
“Seems likely.” He said and hummed in thought to himself. Ladynoir posed a good idea but he didn’t want to sacrifice their well-beings.
“Hey, we’re a couple-o-heroes,” he joked and a wide smile formed on his face. Beetle stood up from his crouched position and stretched his legs.
“Lucky Charm!” He called out and a garbage can fell from the sky…
“Not what I was expecting but it’ll do.” He said and handed the lid of the can to Ladynoir.
“Here’s the plan,” he said, clearing his throat, “Use that as a shield so they can’t touch you… I’m gonna try and bait one side into sticking their hand inside the can, when that happens you block the other side and break the bracelet with your cataclysm.” Beetle instructed with a confident grin. Hoping the plan wasn’t too complicated and easy to follow. What he came up with made sense in his head, anyway.

The blue haired hero gripped into the “can” part of the garbage can and hopped into plain view of the villain who had just finished causing another couple to fight. Beetle placed the can in front of his feet and called toward the akuma.
“Hey! Over here.” He said waving his arms at the akuma.

Ladynoir chuckled at Beetle’s joke. It was pretty funny. “Yeah that should work.” She said. She held the lid in one hand so she could use cataclysm when needed. I hope this works. she thought as she watched Beetle waving his arms. She looked from her partner to the akuma, waiting for the right moment.

“Let’s get ready to take out the trash.” She smirked as she stood ready to put Beetle’s plan into action. It bugged her that Beetle was the distraction, mostly because she wondered if the next monster would be dumb enough to fall for this or be smart and capture Beetle or something worse.

Beetle looked back toward Ladynoir, not worried about the Akuma. He gave her a small wink before going off to face the villain. He was pretty good at evading attacks, he would just have to wait until the perfect moment to catch the villain.
“Where’s ladynoir?” The akuma called out and Beetle smirked,
“Right behind me,” he said confidently. The villain approached close to him one arm extending out while the other was in a more defensive position waiting for ladynoir to appear on the scene. Beetle kept the akuma at bay as he waited for the perfect moment to strike. Disagreement tried its best to hit Beetle but he kept his distance waiting for their arm to extend so he could catch it in the trash can.

The akuma became impatient and began to swing more wildly at Beetle, which created the perfect opening for him to catch the swinging arm. Beetle thrusted the garbage can forward and trapped the akuma’s arm and called out to Ladynoir,
“Now!” He said, hoping the everything would go as planned.

“Hey there! Care to lend a hand?” Ladynoir did a flip as she landed on the ground to avoid being touched as the lid of the can trapped the akuma’s hand. The heroine had been hiding in a tree waiting for the right moment “Cataclysm!” She used her power to break the bracelet and the akuma flew out. That was close Ladynoir thought. “You know if they kept the receipt they could easily get the money back.” She said as she waited for Beetle to catch the akuma.


“If I ever got a bracelet that nice from anyone I’d be shocked but happy. Of corse I’m sure it was expensive. But I don’t need a bracelet. My ring is the only jewelry I need. Oh almost all of the akumatized people were from the cafe. No trouble for this cat to smell coffee. I just hope all of the employees are okay. They probably hid or got akumatized.” Ladynoir added. She held up a fist. “Pound it.” She said grinning.

Beetle caught the akuma in his yo-yo, he quickly purified it before letting it go. He really wanted to get back to work, he felt bad for leaving Brianna and seemingly never have come back after he “went to go get help.” He then threw the garbage can up into the air calling for the miraculous ladybugs to come and repair all the damage that had been done. He quickly extending his hand out to Ladynoir for a fist bump,
“Uh, I gotta bounce. I was in the middle of something but maybe one day we can hangout, the next time we run into each other, yeah?” He offered, his heart pounding a bit as he hoped she would say yes.

After their conversation he wasted no time getting back to work, Callum was a bit worried about everyone there and he did just run off but for good reason of course. He waved goodbye to ladynoir and headed back to the cafe. First, he made sure to transform in an alleyway and feed Tikki,
“I hope that’s it for the day,” He whispered to his Kwami who was happily munching on a piece of a muffin. Tikki hummed as her response and Callum returned into the cafe and made sure to check for his coworker. He did tell her that he was going to get help, though it’s hard to get help when you are the help.
