Ina Thovir

Ina grasped Leon's hand that was on her should. She reached for her flask again and put it into his hand.

"Drink some of this and then we run. You're going to have to lead me until my vision clears up, so I hope you've got a plan forming in your head."

With that Ina stood up, still grasping one of Leon's hands. She was afraid that if she let go he would run off without her and she would be stuck under whoever was about to fall through the hole. She hoped that whoever had been running down the hall was close enough to be able to catch the vampires before they could make it back down here with them. She also hoped she and Leon weren't about to run straight into another group of monsters. She really just hoped they would make it out of this alive.

Leon Beldamere
Leon didn't hesitate to drink from the flask. He didn't think it was wise to voice that his only plan was not dying or running into a wall. Returning her flask he pulled his artifact out, opening the bag just enough so he would see well enough to not run them into anything serious but not enough to illuminate the tunnel entirely. With Ina's hand in his, he gripped it tight and began to run.

For a while, the tunnel was relatively straight, though it began to slope deeper into the earth very gradually. It made their progress faster being able to run down, though Leon grew more and more anxious of where they were headed. After they had been running for a bit a loud thud echoed from behind them. Picking up the pace he continued on with an iron grip on Ina. A sharp right turn left him scrabbling as the decline grew steeper, his momentum causing him to start sliding. Doing everything in his power to stay upright he held his arm out in front of him in case they were sliding towards a wall. Eventually things bottomed out again.

He could feel himself starting to give out, his endurance for running lacking after so much time away from the Mage's school. It was always enforced that the body should be trained just as much as mind and magic. He was sorely regretting letting his endurance atrophy. A rushing sound could be heard up ahead, and as the tunnel ended they ran out into a cavern carved out by water. Dark water ran across the limestone, the path blocked off ahead of them by the river.

"How deep do you think it is?" he panted. They would have to cross it somehow, otherwise it was them, and whatever remained of the vampires.

Ina was thankful for the grip Leon kept on her hand as he ran, otherwise she would've never kept up with him, vision or not. Her much shorter legs were hardly keeping up and she was struggling to keep upright. Running down the slope made things even worse as Leon sped up. She almost fell multiple times, but was kept upright by Leon's hand tugging her along.

Ina would be lying if she said she wasn't terrified when her and Leon began sliding down a slope. Her mind filled with images of a beast laying with his mouth open at the bottom, ready to devour them in their inability to stop or slow down. Her chest got a little bit lighter when they stopped at the sound of a river. A river almost certainly meant a way out of wherever they were. She jolted at Leon's voice, having become accustomed to just the sounds of his heavy breathing.

"I don't know, but however deep it is hardly matters to me right now. We have to get in, it's our only chance of getting out of here. Let's pick a direction and hope it's the opposite way of wherever those two are going if they are behind of us. And if we picked wrong, we get under the water and pray we can hold our breath long enough to escape them."

Leon Beldamere
Out of breath already, Leon hoped that they could cross quickly. Otherwise drowning was his option. "Right," he huffed. Walking to the water's edge his feet slid on the wet limestone. Gently sliding his foot in he resisted the urge to recoil. The water was freezing cold. "Whatever you do, don't let go."

Stepping into the water there was an immediate decline and the water was quickly up to his knees. Teeth clenched against the cold he kept on, feeling the water push harder as he made his way further in. From behind, the echoed voices grew more distinguished. From the sounds, both vampires had made it out. Picking up his pace he suddenly dropped to waist level, gasping as the cold water splashed over him. The not-so-distant arguing continued, though, the sound of the river muffling him. "Ina this is getting too deep. We aren't even half way and the current is stronger down here."
