"Wait- Icarus had wings?!" Perhaps she should not have been quite that surprised, considering they did travel through some shadowy world in order to get too and from Vretellas.

" You make a good point...and I shall believe in you. Just don't go getting yourself killed, ok? We can't have that happening again." she crossed her arms and glared at him. She was serious, especially right now. She even slowed her speed for a moment to place a comforting hand on Haruna's shoulder. They were both still alright..and so far all the staff was too. The tragedy could have been far worse than it already was.

The dark haired boy muttered "Wings," then shook his head. He wanted to carry both girls, but didn't think he could. He didn't know about Nina, but Ai seemed conflicted. She had this look on her face somewhere between sad and disbelieving. He chose to pick her up. He then held out a hand to Nina, just in case. He made a small sound as Akira dropped back and touched his shoulder. "I'm..." he was going to say he was fine, but he wasn't really. "I can't believe he's gone," he told her. He looked at the ground a moment, then back up as they walked.

The reddish brown haired little one hadn't really dealt with death much. She didn't quite understand it yet. She also didn't quite believe Icarus was gone, but she also felt a sadness. She didn't resist being picked up, and looked down at Nina.

Ah. So he wasn’t sleeping after all, of course that had been the case. Figures after it was evident that when Valentine attempted to scold him he suddenly became exhausted and fell asleep. “A little credit would be nice. I know you a little bit better then you think and thought there was a half chance you were actually still asleep, while there was also a half chance you were acting too prolong us being like that. But even if you were still asleep I thought a good morning kiss was sure too wake you even then.”, replied Aralynn sitting back as she started uncurling herself, “And yes I’m afraid you must sit up now that you are awake. Tis the third day now so we should see if you can manage it now and, aside from that, I’ve had you taken from me by a town. I won’t have anything, let alone a mere fish, do that again.” Aralynn’s voice wavered a bit and became hushed briefly during her last few words as she fought the urge to once again curl up around Al. Though she gave him a soft smile instead to keep from doing so. It worked. She didn’t coil back up.

When Valentine spoke up asking about how they’d like their meals cooked, Aralynn turned to the other male. She contemplated for a few seconds before, “Well please. Though I’m curious how you managed to catch such slippery things by hand. It seems as though it should be impossible to do that.”

“His heart was ripped out.”, said Lucas as they walked with him taking a silent count of each staff member they came into contact with. And those that they asked the ones they met about. If one staff member had seen any others lately then they were too counted as being alright. “Feeding will heal a vampire and we are hard to kill admittedly, but yet we share a few weaknesses with humans just the same. Fire for instance, we will die if burned. A stake to the heart as well, or just having it ripped out of our chests will suffice.” Part of him was answering Haruna’s statement about Icarus’s death. The other part was cleverly passing on information of their weaknesses on purpose.

“But yes wings. Large white feathery wings like those of a swan or dove. Our powers are unique and varied, though there are cases where changelings can have similar or related abilities to their sires. When that happens Tis not much of a surprise when you consider what the process takes.” So far everything seemed to be alright elsewhere in the manor. Everyone was being accounted for so far and it was making Lucas feel somewhat better, though only just if anything. It appeared that the intruder had come with a purpose in mind.....and that was too kill Icarus. But why? Why kill the boy when he had done nothing wrong? Why intrude on Renier Land and commit such a blast at challenge as the killer had? What was the eldest Renier missing still? All Icarus had been doing was researching the Progenitor. “I have no plans to die Akira. Nor do I have any plans too loose against this creature that dared too set foot unwelcome within this house. I have duties if you recall.”

The study was just down the hall. And the hall had a faint smell of the hint of blood, only this was not vampire which had lead him to the library...no. This particular blood scent was human.

“Whose still unaccounted for?”

"Heart...ripped..." His heart had been???? Why! Were there not less cruel methods of going about it? What was the point of that?!
Poor Icarus... they'd find his killer. They had to. She wasn't sure what kind of punishment would be most fitting, but they'd make sure he paid too.

But it almost seemed like he was intentionally telling them ways to take down a vampire- even a pureblood. Her guess was that it was in case the killer came back and they needed to defend themselves.

" It sounds like his wings were quite beautiful then. A shame we never got to see them in use. The ability to fly must've been quite something. "

Of course she recalled his duties, and just how capable he was, but... that didn't make her any less worried.

"Who's unaccounted for? I don't think there's anyone. Maybe Estella, since she wasn't in the kitchen like that maid said she was, but she was seen recently so I thought that counted?"

The dark haired boy made a small sound, unable to cover the girls' ears...He was holding one, after all, and held his hand out to the other. That, or Nina had already taken his hand. He shook his head a couple times, then let out a breath. He listened as the vampire male spoke, and nodded a bit. He nodded to what Akira said, but didn't really speak since what else could he say? He asked "Did the other maid say if Estella was with anyone? Maybe...maybe we should still check for her, just in case."

The reddish brown haired little one looked stricken at what the vampire had said...In fact, she looked like she even might be sick. She quickly turned her head, burying her face in Haruna's shirt. She didn't want to hear anymore, but there was no way to block it out.

Lucas’s eyes narrowed. “Haruna you might want to keep those children here in the hallway.”, he said before heading slowly off down the hallway following the faint scent of blood. It was without a doubt coming from the direction of his study. He knew that Estella had been seen not too long ago by another maid but the closer he got to the room the easier it was to pick out specifics. He had fed from the lady in waiting before after all. He knew what her blood smelled like. The scent of fresh linens and a summer breeze was all too familiar to Lucas. His steps ended up hurrying the stronger they got.

The Pureblood gently placed his hand against the unfounded side of Estella’s neck. The lady in waiting was pale, fairly pale, but breathing as she lay unconscious over his desk. In the exposed side of her neck, hair moved just so to make it clear, we’re the tell tale two bite marks in her flesh. Fresh. Not old and used. Blood standing the same side of her neck as well.

" Of course. Tis better to be safe than sorry-" apparently the word 'safe' may not have been the best of choice of word.

If Lucas's pace was any dictator of how concerned they should be...

"Estella! " She shouted upon entering the room, rushing over to Estella and taking her hand. " Please please tell me she's still alive!"

There. A pulse. It was faint but nonetheless it was there. The one responsible had left the lady in waiting alive and, by the lack of blood on the women’s face, had not been fed her attacker’s blood so she was still perfectly human. Though in delicate shape. “She is alive. And still human. It appears that the intruder was injured, Icarus must have put up a decent fight and wounded whoever it was that attacked him. For this vampire fed just enough to recover.....Tis likely the one who did all this is no longer here. Still they took quite a bit and she’ll need an Apothecary’s care as soon as possible.”

Raising his voice Lucas called out to Haruna outside the study, “Haruna! Please have any staff you see call immediately for the Apothecary! Estella is injured!”

The dark haired boy jumped a bit when he heard Lucas yell. He'd been waiting outside the room as instructed. Luckily, he saw one staff member nearby, and called to him. He sent him to call for an Apothecary, which was done. Haruna then moved closer to the door. He didn't come inside, but said "An apothecary is being called now. Or has been sent for. I...don't really know how long it takes," he said through the door.
