in a matter of seconds, his face went from ghostly pale and in complete shock to pure anger. the only
thing arlo will not tolerate is pure disrespect. at that moment, he didn't care who was standing in fron
t of him and he certainly didn't care about ruining his future music career. a grin appeared along with
a short scoff. "you know what?" he began. "i don't care who you are, but one thing you're not goi
ng to do is come to my doorstep and disrespect me." arlo's voice was stern and overbearing. even
he was surprised at how his words were coming out. "i'm sorry that i don't a place to practice and t
hat i'm not privileged like you. some people have to work for a living and not depend on their cl
ients to carry them. i'm not destroying my dream over some arrogant producer."
saying he wasn't hurt would be a lie. he walked past daewon without making contact with the man an
d lit his cigarette. "tmz was wrong about you. i thought you'd be encouraging to up and coming
artists." arlo inhaled from his cigarette and placed his hand back at his side. continuous confrontatio
n wasn't arlo's strong suit. it reminded him strongly of his arguments with his brothers and he was ne
ver the one to win. his brown eyes looked at daewon and offered him a cigarette. "i don't want to arg
ue with you." he put the pack of cigarettes in his back pocket and crossed his arms over his chest. "i
just wish you'd be more understanding." it came to him that he never gave his name. he released a
silent sigh before continuing. "name's arlo. i already know you, so don't bother reintroducing your
self to me. "
it came to his attention that he definitely lost his chance with the producer, but he refused to show his
emotions. he was upset by the interaction and disappointed, but arlo prepared himself for the backlas
h and harsh words that would come from his idol's lips. whatever was said, not once did he look at dae
won. the boy took the last few hits of his cigarette before flicking it on the ground. it landed beside a s
mall pile of cigarette butts. he never picked up after himself nor did he feel the need to.

xxxThere was a brief moment where he could feel his blood boiling over in his rage as the tall stranger again spoke up, his grin and his spiteful words together bringing the small blonde to the very edge of his patience, but as the other continued on his emotion led rant Daewon could feel his resolve slipping; the specific moment was hard to pin point, but it was probably somewhere after the dark haired boy began to spout about his dreams and his blatant disappointment in the hopes he had pinned on Daewon that the producer could feel his heart drop, guilt eating away at him. Guilt wasn't an emotion he was particularly practiced in, never apologetic for his actions or his words, but there was something about the dejected puppy dog look that the handsome stranger was sporting that had the blonde male suddenly regretting ever coming over in the first place.
Seemingly frozen in place as he tried to come to terms with his emotions, battling between his guilt and the anger he knew should still be there, Daewon only came back to his senses as the other made a point of making eye contact and held out a cigarette for him. Giving the other a look which could only be described as baffled, glancing over the stranger as if for the first time really seeing him, the male gave a simple hum as a response and instead of speaking up simply listened as the other continued to speak. He felt as if he owed the other that much after storming over and absolutely loosing it, offering him no chance to really explain himself.
Once he was certain that the other had finished, his semi-formal introduction ending his speech, Daewon cleared his throat before speaking up, feeling suddenly very glad that Arlo was avoiding his gaze "I'm not privileged, you know. I may be arrogant at times, sure, and I may have money, but that doesn't mean that I didn't work for everything I have." Feeling a need to explain himself, uncomfortable at the idea of talking about himself and shifting on his feet, Daewon ran a hand through his hair and kept his gaze as far away from Arlo as he could "I understand where you're coming from, I really do. I went through the same thing, bouncing from apartment to apartment, unable to pay rent... and studios are expensive. I know that."
Taking the far route from apologizing, unaccustomed to it and feeling quite bashful, Daewon offered a sigh before finally daring a glance at the other "I don't want to argue, either, you know. I really don't. Just....ugh. Stay put for a second." As if suddenly coming up with a solution, Daewon took this brief moment to move past Arlo and back to his own apartment, rustling about for a brief moment before returning to the hallway with a set of keys in hand, stepping closer to the not-so-stranger and wrestling to get a key off of the ring "I'm not always like this. You just caught me at a bad time, got it? It's not a great excuse, but it's true. Some privileged brat called me in to work earlier cause he decided my work wasn't good enough, wanted to argue with me about my skills, and it didn't end well. I was still reeling from that by the time I saw your note." Finally succeeding in the task at hand, Daewon sighed and lifted his head so that he could once again face the other's brown eyes, holding out the singular key to Arlo and moving his gaze to the side "Take this. It's a key to my studio. Use it next time you decide you need to play late at night. It's a win for both of us, really, but... consider it me being 'encouraging', I guess."

arlo glanced at his idol after his rant to see an expression of bewilderment. it wasn't what he expected at all,
but he felt grateful for the short argument coming to an end. he listened to what daewon had to say about h
is battle with privilege and how he got to where he is today, and he believed him. arlo didn't actually think th
at when he said it, but it was a good way to get under someone's skin. the blonde man didn't have to explain
himself to arlo as he's fully aware of how he got to where he is today. it caused him to reminisce on the time
he discovered daewon: the day he left his house and found a passion in music.
something about daewon's eyes drew in arlo. he couldn't determine whether it was his look of guilt or the re
alization that daewon had a bit of black to his dark brown eyes. whatever it was, he found his idol more and
more beautiful. he felt regret from what he said to him while he listened. although he already knew his story,
there was sadness in the voice of the man who stood in front of him; some kind of authenticity. it wasn't som
ething he could experience from a story in a magazine or an article online. he was experiencing the real daew
on for how he really is. it still didn't feel real. it felt as if he was completely disassociated from the moment.
he watched the blonde man retreat to his apartment and return with a bundle of keys. the man fidgeted with
a set of keys in his attempt to get one off. he watched his arm extend with a single key pinched between two
fingers. arlo was in disbelief and daewon had no idea what the key would unlock for him. the thought of bein
g able to play different instruments and to write new parts to his songs felt unreal. yet, he hesitated for a mo
ment. arlo felt as if he wasn't worthy of such a privilege, but his heart told him to take it. with that, he reache
ed his hand out and took the key from daewon. he examined it for a moment and allowed his thumb to feel
each and every groove. "that idiot doesn't have any idea what he's talking about." he reassured him with
a small grin. his eyes went from the key back to daewon. "you really don't have to give me this." his humbl
eness was shining through like crazy. "but since you did, i'm keeping it." his grin grew to a small smile. "yo
u're not too bad, daewon."

xxxThe other's grin causing the short blonde to reflect one right back at him, an expression not often worn by the usually stoic producer, Daewon hummed thoughtfully at Arlo's words and gave something between a scoff and half hearted chuckle as he spoke "Mm, yeah, I won't argue that...you know, I'd say that between the two of you, you definitely got off the easiest. I poured coffee all over the other kid. Refused to work with him, too." Suddenly bashful, unaccustomed to reconciliation after cussing someone out and feeling very out of place, Daewon glanced to the side and once again ran a hand down the back of his neck in an attempt to relieve some of the awkward tension "Looking back, now, I guess it doesn't really paint a good picture of me. Not really selling the whole 'I'm secretly decent' thing, am I?"
Looking back to Arlo as he took the key from his hands, admittedly having mixed thoughts on the sudden humbleness of the taller male, Daewon nodded in return to his insistence and felt the corners of his lips again struggle to fight off a smile. How their conversation could go from having him absolutely fuming to grinning like a fool within minutes was baffling to the blonde, but was also something that he didn't spend too much time thinking on, knowing the heart to be a fickle thing. Well, maybe not his own (which was particularly known to be quite hardened and calloused), but in general.
Giving a lazy roll of his eyes as the honey-toned male again returned to his cheeky self, something Daewon was accustomed to dealing with in their daily note-passing transactions, the producer felt a wave of relief wash over him and was a small bit more inclined to participate in the conversation, the familiarity comfortable "Yeah, yeah. You're not so bad yourself, Arlo." Then, as if for good measure, Daewon (with a twinkle in his eyes) added on "Don't go getting any ideas, though. You're still a brat. You're just a bit more...tolerable."

he listened to the blonde tell his tale on his poor interaction with the artist and felt pity for his idol. arlo kne
w how it was to get bashed on for his talent. it was something he wanted to demand if he ever were to work
with a producer: pure respect. he let out a soft chuckle. "no, definitely not." he went back and forth with ey
e contact with daewon to the key he held in his hand. having it in his possession made him want to drop eve
rything and go to the studio now. he knew he would take advantage of everything the studio had to offer. th
e thought excited him, but he didn't show any of his emotions to daewon. he didn't want him to think he wa
s nerdy about his passion. yet again, arlo knew that daewon would understand his excitement.
arlo decided to pocket the key and take a look inside of his opened apartment. his eyes couldn't help but to
drift to the guitar he messily placed on the couch beside him. it was a pet peeve of his not to treat his expe
nsive prized possession like trash, but the wake of the moment caused him to act a fool. he rose from leani
ng against the building and entered his apartment. he quickly picked up his orange fender and grabbed his
guitar case that sat beside the couch and began to pack it up. "i think i'm going to take a trip to that stu
dio of yours. you can tag along if you want, i don't know if you had other plans or not." arlo refused to
wait another moment knowing he could be creating something.
