*POV of a human named James bc I might make him plot relevant*
James had been going about his regular day, if you could call it that. Thinking back on it, he regretted telling anyone he was a huge fantasy geek who liked reading books like Narnia and Lord of the Rings. He would never forget the day his drill sergeant told him he would get a shiny new assignment that possibly involved real live dragons, with the simple price of consigning his soul to secrecy and servitude of course. James wasn't told that he'd help to capture and farm the things. But he just had to agree without a second thought. And now here he was, surrounded by sleep gas and unknown dragons. Oh, and the dragons could speak English. What the actual flunk.
Hope you don't mind that I used your word btw since he can't say the real one
Some of the men screamed or cursed. Others looked around like they didn't know what to do. James just dropped the gun he had barely been holding in self defense, turned heel, and headed towards the barracks, saying, "I've seen enough. Good night boys."
"Private Harris, you turn right around and stand your ground!" Barked a stern voice from behind. James winced. Of course, he just happened to be standing next to the General. Only turning his head, he replied, "I'm sorry, but female Titains with lightning powers and unclassified dragons that can speak English are dropping out of the sky and killing our men, so I think I'll sit this one out."
He began walking away again as the General cried, "if you leave here now you'll be court-martialed, you hear?!"
"Noted," James called back with a wave of his hand. He didn't care, even if it meant he'd have to muck out dragon stalls for the rest of his days.
*ok back to Maya's POV*
Maya groaned. Everything hurt, she wanted to go back to sleep and pretend it was all a dream. Where was she?
"Hello? Um, are you awake?"
That voice sounded familiar. Was that-
"Crys?" Maya mumbled, slowly opening her eyes and wincing at the sudden rush of bright light. She groaned again as she moved, her scales riddled with bandages covering her wounds. Crys was sitting in front of her, his face a wild mix of amazement, worry, and sadness. "Yeah, it's me," he said. "Guess they got you too." He looked down with a sigh. "Figures."
"Don't worry, more help is on the way. I swore to you that I would get you guys out of here, and I intend to keep that promise weather I'm a captive or not."
She looked around her, trying to figure out where they were. They were in a large room that had just enough space for two Titains to live in. It was filled with trees and grass, and a small pool in front of a cave to sleep in. It all looked sad and fake, and was harshly lit by the lights she had seen in her dreams.
"Where are we? I don't remember this from the memories you showed me," she said.
"That's because I've never been here before," Crys responded, looking flustered. "I think...this is where they have dragons breed."
"What?!?!?" Maya exclaimed, startled into half standing up before lying back down from sudden pain.
"Hey, hey, take it easy, I'm not going to breed with you. We just met, and we're barely even friends, and I'd never force myself on anyone, least of all you."
"But why me? I just got here, and I remember at least two other females were trapped with you."
"That was Geodys and Lunatrix, and they're both over 3,000 years old. Geodys also has a granddaughter, but she's still a young dragonet. You're the first fertile female the humans have been able to capture."
"Lucky me," Maya said, rolling her eyes. "Well, at least I'm locked up with a friend." She and Crys both smiled. A rumbling noise startled them both, as something that looked like raw meat fell from a corner of the ceiling into a trough. "Oh good, I'm starving," Crys said hungrily, moving to the corner. "Want some?" He asked.
"That's ok, I just ate a couple days ago," Maya replied. Crys just nodded and came back over to her with his food. Maya wanted to explore a little bit, so she tried to get up again. It still hurt to move too much, and she hissed in pain. "Need some help?" Crys asked, looking up from his meal.
"Yes please," Maya grunted. Crys stood up and helped her to lean into him, which was when Maya found out that the humans had put her ankle that had had the dragon trap on it in a cast. Her opposite ankle had been given the same band Crys had. "What is this for?" Maya asked, motioning to the band.
"Lunatrix told me they were to help keep track of things like what we do here and where we stay. Ours both have the same purple light to show that we're supposed to be bred," Crys said.
Maya nodded and began limping around their enclosure. "How does Lunatrix know all of that?" She asked to distract her from the pain.
"She said that she studied humans because she thought they were interesting, and she spent so much time around them that she learned their language. She says it's the reason she got captured too," Crys replied.
"Huh," Maya said, "I never thought about trying to interact with humans before. guess I have all the time in the world for now."
