'Kai....' the name was spoken elongated and echoed in his mind. Unconcious he lay in the box surrounded but nothing but darkness. 'Kai.' it beckoned at him again. In his mind a blurred face surrounded by light. 'I'm sorry...we had no choice but to send you up...' she said, as now the voice could be made out definitely that of a woman, she was giving off this comfort, mother-like. There was no movement around him, as the box had not begun to travel upwards yet. His breath was even as he still lay there. But that euphoric calmness ended quickly as it came and he began to feel like he was falling for a moment. His eyes shot open and the voice and name that had been spoken in his mind were already forgotten. Like a dream, you wake up from but instantly cannot recall anything that has happened anymore. "Hello?" he called out but there was no response, just a deafening silence that causes ringing in his ears. His body drenched in sweat as he had himself pushed up in a corner as far as he could get, gripping whatever was around him as if to give him some stability in what was happening.

Suddenly there was this whirling noise, something was starting. And within seconds he was jerked downwards as the box started to climb upwards at an alarming speed. His heart was beating through his chest, finding himself trying to catch his breath as he looked up to where he would be heading, only to be met with darkness again, only quick passing by of lights in whatever tunnel he was in. He cursed under his breath, he couldn't remember anything, who he is, how he got here, where here even is. What was happening. And before he had a chance to react the box had reached its destination, stopping at the top and only a sliver of light peering through what looked like doors of a sort above him. But he remained quiet, afraid he was being offered up as a sacrifice to something. His body was shaking, sweat dripped down the sides of his face as his hair clung to his forehead. It was too small to stand in his confinement so he was slightly squatted in the corner, keeping his eyes on above him.

He heard....voices. But if they were human he couldn't tell. Whispers. Was he a game for them? A toy? It wasn't until he heard the wail of the doors being opened that he really felt fear. Only to be met moments later by a group...of kids that look to be around his age. His eyes squinted to light and he put a hand up to his face to help adjust, the light that now busted through and he could see around him, boxes of what looked like supplies, small farm animals, clothing, etc. These people looked down at him, watched him, but not with confusion, it was like they were expecting him in some way. But that alone gave him the slightest amount of comfort, and he offered a weak smile to them, letting out a heave of a breath that had been held in while he had been waiting for them to open the doors.

Ryuu was cutting up some meat from a pig he had just killed, he hated working but he loved the food so it was a win-lose situation. They knew that there was a box coming up any day now and with that, a new person would be coming up which means a bonfire to be held. He finished cutting up the meat, before taking off his apron he had on which only helped protect him from the mess a little. He would definitely need to change. But right now he needed to take the meat to the cooks in the kitchen. He picked up the meat and walked over to the Kitchen placing it in there with no comments or a conversation with anyone before walking out and heading towards the homestead. But before he could he stopped in his tracks, the sound of the box coming up was faint but he could make it out.

With blood still messily on his shirt, but not visible on his pants he walked over towards it. What a better impression of "Leave me the hell alone." than to have blood on you right? He chuckled to himself, a half-smirk on his face as he waited for the box to be opened and reveal what new annoyance would be in there. Maybe it would be someone he could deal with, tolerate. But oh how he couldn't be more wrong, because when the box opened it presented a tall boy, who resembled Ryuu in some ways. His face was not one that Ryuu could say he enjoyed, already off the bat he deemed it as "Punchable." Which wasn't something out of the ordinary for him anyways. Because Ryuu only was "friends" with very select people. Nagini being one of his only friends here in this cage or at least one of the only people he can tolerate, but that doesn't mean he is any bit sweeter towards her, he is mostly the same towards everyone regardless of their status in his head.

Back to the boy, he looked like a scared puppy for just a moment, curled up in a corner, as all the people around the box looked down at him. But it seemed something changed in the greenie's eyes, in his demeanor, he looked relieved and even offered a weak smile to the crowd. He clenched his hands into fists, what about this boy made him so annoyed already, like he was ready to blow his top and punch him? In the end, he rolled his eyes, the only good thing about this guy was they were to hold a bonfire, drink and eat, and not have to work too late into the night.

Sizzle....Sizzle....
The food crackled as she cooked it, they obviously don't have a stove so they have to cook it over a fire. The meat that was prepared by the slicers was already set up for the cooks. She sprinkled the spices over the meat as it cooks, the warmth of the fire heating her face. She had her hair pulled back in a messy bun, a few stragglers of hair fell into her face. Cooking was one of the only times that Gaia is quiet and calm, her mind and body are too focused on the food that she forgets everything else. She sits on the ground near the fire as she keeps an eye on the meat. The fat and juices dripping into the fire causing it to spit it back out and around or on her. But she didn't mind it too much.

In the background, she could hear a commotion of people gathering, and the box being brought up. She was interested in the person but if she leaves the food would burn and she would never let herself live that down if she fed people burnt meat. She often wondered if she was a chef before she became a part of the glade. With how much pride she holds with her cooking and how well she does it that must be it right?

She turned her attention to the box from across the field before back to the food as she turns it on the spit. There was a slight excitement that stirred in her chest as she thought of who would be coming up from the box, were they nice? Were they fun? Either way she would love them. And the best part would be the bonfire they would have and the party and fun. All the laughing and smiles on peoples faces would be amazing.

Wynn was quietly working, grinding up dried herbs and putting them in glass jars with labels on the, well the best labels they could make at least. She knew today there would be a box, that would mean everyone would gather around the box and all eyes on the greenie. She tends to enjoy being away from the crowd. She remembered the first day she came to the glade. It was a lot different back then. Things were less organized, plants were just starting to get planted, and there were so much fewer people around. She remembered how she felt when she came up from the box. She was so scared, and if she recalls it right, she didn't talk for two weeks. Mostly she had just nodded or shook her head in answers, and for awhile she had been one to run off and hide from the others in the glade. But eventually, she had slowly warmed up to the idea of being here, and around these people, at least until she found out about the maze. How people got stung and went crazy or died in there. How the maze took people she cared about. That frightened her, but it made her realize she wanted to help people as much as she could, so that is how she knew her place was in the glade as a med-jack.

Today times had been slow because most people were worried and setting up for the possibility of a bonfire. So she was quite relaxed with only having to deal with small bumps and bruises. She stepped out the med-shack and sat outside of it, sliding her back down against it as she eventually was sitting in the grass on the ground in front of it. Watching as the people gathered around the box one by one, dropping everything they were doing. She only saw a few that were too busy or didn't care enough to really go. To most a greenie was just another mouth to feed, and while she could understand that, she believed strength comes in numbers and minds. The more people here the more likely they can find out how to leave this place. And the less work everyone has to do because there are more hands.

She sighed to herself as she pulled a strand of hair in front of her face and began twirling it around her finger. Would they always be stuck here? What was out there? Who were the people below them? What did they want? She always found herself asking these questions every time the box came up. She had been having memories return to her since the first night she got there. But none of them really answered any of those questions. She just remembered small parts, like being around all these people here before the glade. She remembers being tested for something. She doesn't like thinking about them too much, but they always seem to come into her mind at the most inopportune times.

She had slacked off today, there wasn't much for her to do anyways, and she really just wanted to take the day off. She was lying back in one of the hammocks, letting one of her feet dangle off and skim the floor. She stared up at the ceiling. She had been trapped in this glade for 6 months, which wasn't too long but also wasn't too new either. But it was long enough for her to know a bit about the maze, and that the box comes up every week, and once a month there is a person in it.

She was in one of her moods of leave me alone or I will hit you upside the head. But when she had heard the alarm that the box was coming up soon something in her shifted and she became rather needy for the attention of others. She stood from the hammock slowly, it had been almost half an hour since the alarm went up which means that the box should be there in a few minutes. She ran her fingers through her hair, playfulness and a flirty look in her eyes. She could hear people talking amongst themselves as the box did eventually come up. She was walking out of the homestead and through the field directly to the box, making her way through the people who did want to stand in the way of her, but not like shoving them, but gently brushing their shoulders as if to make her presence known. She stopped a few feet away from the box and looked down at it. Who would open it this time?

V's hands were placed on her hips as she stood there, impatiently. A slight tap of her foot in the grass before she then moved her arms and folded them across her chest. It was tiresome to not have the attention on her and instead it was all going to be on the Greenie for a while. This means when she was a greenie she relished in it. She absolutely adored it, well at least until she didn't. When she was having a day she wanted to be alone, she was extremely cold and said nothing nice to the person that her eyes had set on. She was pretty sure the girl she spoke to like that, went and cried that night. Not that she really cares, it was quite fun for her honestly.

Mayhem hummed an unnamed tune as she contentedly swiped the old rag in her hand alongside the corner of the last plate. Frypan was kind to her when he offered her a spot in the kitchen, she knew that much. That wasn't to say May wasn't a good cook, but... She got distracted easily, to say the least. Her naive little mind had bigger dreams than spending hours and hours in an overly hot kitchen. She'd had an absolute blast a few months ago, back when she'd requested some baking supplies and her wish was granted. Back then, nobody could get her to leave the kitchen. But the following month, nothing delightful had arrived, and Mayhem knew it was a one-time thing. It was disappointing, but it was the highlight of her Glade time. Now, she was back to cooking bland, over-cooked food and drying dirty dishes. May didn't mind it, of course, she knew she was helping out and that was enough to make her happy, but she did long to be outside, running around and twirling in the long grasses.

That was a fantasy she couldn't ever truly unravel.

Just as she was reaching up to put the now-clean plate away, the Box alarm began to screech, and May's reflects, which didn't often react on time, caused her other hand to shoot out before the plate shattered. She nearly tossed it on the counter, though, stars in her eyes as she stared in awe at the center of the Glade. "Gaia!" she squeezed excitedly, giving the Cook's sleeve a gentle tug in case her mind was elsewhere, if at all possible, given the obnoxious noise around them. "Gaia, the Greenie is here! C'mon, c'mon!" She shot the girl an excited grin, the type that made her cheeks look extra round, then hurried out of the kitchen. Her legs, which were short but efficient, carried her with ease across the fields. Eventually, she made it to the Box, thankfully just before the group turned into something large and uncontrollable.

It was difficult to get a good glimpse of the figure in the Box, considering the fact that the large, metal top was still covering the inside. She could see dark hair, pale skin, and figured it was a male, but that was all she was getting for the time being. Standing up straight, her chocolate brown eyes skimmed over the faces, settling on Ryuu, whose expression was the total opposite of hers. Still, this didn't discourage her. She motioned to him quickly, then towards the closed doors.

"Ryuu, help me out please!" she cried, her tone begging, though not necessarily desperate. She tapped the tips of her shoes together anxiously, then crouched lower, small hands curling around the handle of the door closed to her person.

Amelia's breath came out in shallow pants as she trotted down the slim path of the current corridor, emerald-green eyes focused intently into the shadows up ahead. She didn't have a solid idea of what it was she was after, just that she was running in the direction that was not leading her to the exit into the Glade. Minho was way up ahead, most likely in his own world, as per usual, and she didn't know where the other Runners went. Minho often had a thing about making them split up, but Amelia had zoned out when he first called them in for a meeting. As she usually did. Most mornings, she was a grump, and she wasn't even going to not admit to it. She hated waking up early, though she did like the feeling of an early-morning run. Most days, that was. Some days it was nearly impossible to even drag herself out of her hammock. Lucky for her, she had enough energy to push through so far. It wasn't sunshine and rainbows for her, but she was doing alright. A settled neutral.

Her eyes flickered to her right for a brief second, only just catching sight of Jaemin, one of the only Runners she really talked to. One of the only Gladers she really talked to, more or less. It wasn't that Amelia didn't dislike anyone there, but she had troubles connecting on a personal level. Her stupid, insecure mind ended up overthinking everything, and five minutes in, she usually managed to convince herself that the person she was speaking with hated her. It was awful.

Although Amelia did like Jaemin, she didn't speak to him directly at that time. A side-glance was enough for him to know that she was already exhausted. She was impatient, too; how much longer was it going to be before they found something significant? She wasn't sure how many more days she could go on without even a pinch of change.

Draco hated mornings. There was no way to sugar coat his glumness, the scowl on his face as he awoke to the sound of shuffling shoes. The Gladers were never generous to those sleeping in the morning. He was almost positive the Runners purposely banged the door shut to stir the rest of them, and nobody knew what the word "quiet" was. He had always been a light sleeper, too, so once he was up, that was the end for him. So, grumbling under his breath, he pushed himself up, rubbed his eyes, lazily combed his stubborn curls, then exited the Homestead to begin his day.

The days always consisted of the same routine. Wake up, work until you are hungry, get something to eat, work until dawn, go to sleep. It was boring, really, but Draco supposed he couldn't do much about it. He also figured it could have been a lot worse... Nothing ever exciting happened around here, but he didn't really want to get himself involved in anything stupid anyway, so that was fine by him. He just did his thing and life was great. The last thing he wanted was an interruption.

And an interruption was exactly what he got. Halfway through hammering in a nail, the alarm sounded. The Box had arrived. Was it already that time? Draco knew a few people kept track, but after three months of living in the Glade, he had given up. If anything, he'd figure he'd remember this with ease, given his scenario, but apparently not. It didn't matter, though; the Box and the Greenie were the same every single month. Draco rarely went over there. The Gladers crowded around excitedly like it was a new invention they had never seen, and he got claustrophobic. The Greenie would make its way around eventually.

Setting down his hammer, though, Draco still found himself standing up. However, his dark eyes did not linger on the excitement around the middle of the Glade, but Nagini, one of his few official friends. Her face was grim, filled with concentration, and his lips twitched into the tiniest of smiles. "Wonder what kind of shank we got this month, hey?" he called to her with the smallest of eye rolls before pointing towards the gatherers.

The sun was warm and inviting that particular day. Saeed knew the heat bothered a lot of the Gladers, for its enraging temperatures made it difficult to work smoothly through, but he quite enjoyed the warmth. It was comforting, a way to remind him that life was beautiful, even despite the dreadful side effects that came with being a Glader. That, of course, ranged from anything like catching a minor cold to their worst nightmares behind the walls of the Maze, the ones that screeched and cried in the depts of the dark night. Saeed tried his best to remain on the positive side of things, even though he wasn't nearly as chirpy and bubbly about it as someone like, for example, Mayhem, who never went a day without smiling. Thinking negative thoughts simply wished to bring him down and drag him through the mud, and that would only make the days harder to pass through. So he just didn't. For the most part, anyway.

He couldn't imagine coming up with glum thoughts on a day like today, anyway. With the gentle whispers of the wind and beaming sunshine, it was pretty much perfect. Things were quiet, too. Draco, one of the Builders, was working on the other side of the fields, doing some repairs to the fences, and Nagini was closer to him than she was to Saeed. V hadn't really made much of an appearance, which had momentarily worried Saeed. Though the pretty blonde liked keeping her distance, Saeed still worried. He still cared. Perhaps that happened a bit too much; everyone had their off days and he needed to learn that that was okay. And yet, despite telling him this, there was still a small burning in his chest.

Shrugging that thought off, though, Saeed returned to the herbs in front of him. He knew little about which were beneficial for the Med-Jacks and which weren't, so he often just plucked them all and gave whatever that didn't work for the medics to the Cooks, and if that didn't work, then the farm animals. It never went to waste. Rising, Saeed flipped the basket lid shut, then turned and headed towards the Med-Hut, sending a wave in Wysteria's direction as he edged closer.

"Hey," he greeted, tone rising in pitch to confirm that the word was indeed spoken in a friendly manner. "I brought you some herbs. Same old, not sure what's good for you and what's not but..." His voice trailed off and he sent her a sheepish smile. He barely heard the blaring alarm, strangely enough, but the moment of silence between them granted his ears access to the sound. His smile faltered as he grew concentrated on something else. Intrigued, Saeed glanced over his shoulder, then back at Wynn. "I guess it's that time again!"

His ears had caught on to May's over-excited words as she had rushed in towards the box. So much energy for a stranger who isn't even going to know his name, for another mouth to feed and another person to have to try to get along with, not like that ever stopped Ryuu from misbehaving.
Ryuu was already not in a good mood, and then his sights focused on May who had been a little too friendly. As if he was her friend. He by all means is not hot-headed in the least bit, but he does get a little ticked off when someone is so easily friendly to him. As if he makes himself approachable in any way. What was it that made her think this way? Why was she always so peppy and cheerful...and invading space. He watched the girl as she gripped the handles.

He was quiet for a bit, kind of thinking about what the benefits of helping her out would be, he came to the conclusion...nothing. Ryuu scoffed at her and with a roll of his eyes and the turn of his back he started to walk away from her "You have two arms. Do it yourself." he spat out. He does not change his ways for anyone, even his friends. He remains the same way for everyone. It's not his fault people get butt hurt over words. Though with Ryuu it's not always just words, he has gotten into quite a few serious fights where he has been thrown into the slammer. He really has lost track, at this point though, maybe it was a lot more than a few. He looked out the corner of his eye over his shoulder once more to May to catch a hidden dirty look from Gaia who went up to help the girl open the doors.

"Guess if you can't open it then he rots down there. It's all the same to me." he says as he continues to walk away before stopping a little ways away and sitting down at a wooden table he had this dark smirk upon his face with his comment. Running his hair through his fingers before it flicks back to his forehead. He had a bandana shoved in his back pocket of his jeans that he pulled out and tied around his head, causing his hair to have a little more volume .

She wasn't going to go to the box, her attention on the food cooking. She had faintly heard the humming of May...a fellow cook who she much enjoyed the company of. She always knew how to match the amount of energy that Gaia has and it made her feel less self-conscious of herself. May was so bubbly and friendly, she was someone that Gaia didn't have to try to force happiness and smiles onto, she was someone that already had a smile on her face. Sometimes though Gaia ever wonders if her face hurts from smiling so much. Even though Gaia loves to radiate positivity it's not like she is smiling every day and hour. And Gaia was human...just that alone made it easy for her positive outlook to waver.

Her thoughts were broken in an instant as her name was called and a slight tug at her sleeve. Her head looked to the girl as she beamed and radiated excitement, it was rather adorable and uplifting. Gaia couldn't help but chuckle and smile at her. "Okay, Okay I'm coming," She said as she pulled the spit off the fire and placed the meat away from it, it just needed to rest now to finish cooking through anyways so perfect timing she supposed. By the time she turned around May was already gone and rushing to the box. She rolled her eyes in a playful manner before hurrying herself. She heard faintly when May had asked for help from Ryuu with opening the doors of the box to free the Greenie. Her eyes shot secret daggers at him as he spoke his nasty words to her. Her attention turned back to May who was already trying to heave the door open. She approached her and put her hand out and on the door "Here let me help." she said as she smiled and pulled on the door as it squealed and fell to the side.

As she had been thinking about how May could remain smiling every moment just moments ago, now her mind rang with questions about Ryuu and how one could be so cruel and rude to another. Like as if they didn't have enough issues to deal with, he had to attack others. Hearing about all the reckless fights he would cause, numerous times she had heard about rumors he started, including one about herself. Apparently, Ryuu had told someone in the glade which then spread like a wildfire that she was...well...the words he said were not appropriate, at least she didn't think so.

She had been lost in thought for a good while, twirling the hair around her finger over and over again before she placed it back into the curly mess of her own hair. From where she could see there were two people trying to open the door so they could see the greenie. She would help, though she didn't really want to put herself in a situation where she feels suffocated, plus she was not that physically strong so she would probably just get more in the way than anything.

Her eyes shot up along with her head as she had caught movement, it was Saeed waving. She offered a wave back, and moments later he was near her. She hurriedly stood up and looked at the basket he presented. "You know, you would think with how long you've been doing this you would learn how to tell them apart by now." she chuckled quietly as she poked fun at him. "I suppose if I tried to teach you, even then it wouldn't stick." she continued with a small smile on her face. She didn't mind it though, it didn't bother her one bit, she quite enjoyed it because it gave her something to do. Plus with that, she would get to see her friend in the time it took her to get her necessary herbs out of the basket. She would do that in a little too, for right now everyone was focused on the box.

Her attention had turned back to the gathering and the box. She had grown so used to the alarm that she simply didn't hear it anymore. She guesses that's what happens when you hear the same thing every week for 2 years and eight months. She was actually able to keep track in her mind of when the next box would come up, though when the greenie came up she would always get a little mixed up, after all, her mind has limits. She nodded to his question followed by a verbal agreement. "Yeah." she had paused. "I always feel so bad for them though...first waking up and having no idea who or where you are, the only luxury we get is eventually finding out our names. But it's scary having all those people around." She said as her eyes stayed fixed on the box. Maybe that feeling was just her? "Anyways...I guess that means we get to have a bonfire tonight." she said as her eyes went to the ground and then to Saeed. Wynn didn't mind bonfires, except for the whole everyone slacking off on their work and then having to make up for it the next day. But it is what it is, and she tends to find herself enjoying the activities during a fire too, so she couldn't complain to much.

If Mayhem wasn't so thrilled about meeting someone new, she probably would have teared up at Ryuu's harsh voice and death glare. She tucked her bottom lip in, rubbing them together before averting her gaze. "Sorry," she murmured in a nearly inaudible tone, shuffling her feet away from him. Anyone who knew May enough knew she was nowhere near strong enough to lift those metal doors herself, but that was just Ryuu being Ryuu.

Her spirits lifted automatically as Gaia chimed in, as if her thoughts on Ryuu had vanished instantly at the sound of the Cook's sweet voice. "Okay!" she squeaked, clasping her hands together. "Thank you!" At that, she crouched back down, sucking in a breath before pushing her muscle into her arms to lift the door. It took a few times, but finally, May was able to yank it open. Jumping back in slight surprise as it clanged obnoxiously against the concrete around them, she watched it, as if to make sure it wasn't going anywhere, then returned her attention to the human being inside the Box. "Hello!" she greeted him, crouching down once more to offer a hand. "Here, let me help you out."

Another sheepish smile made its way onto his face, and he crossed his hands behind his back in an innocent manner. "One day," he assured her loosely, rocking back and forth gently. "Maybe I do just need a good teacher. They all look the same, honestly. Thin stems with little things on the end." He watched her a moment longer, making sure her hands had secured around the basket properly, then propped himself up on the nearest bed. "I can help you sort them," he continued, letting his legs swing, heels brushing against the cold floor. "There's not much else to do in the gardens right now, anyway."

He said that more so because of the fact that the attention was gone from their jobs, evidently. Saeed had caught the look on Wynn's face, too; she wasn't impressed. Saeed pressed his lips into an understanding lopsided smile. He always enjoyed the company of a new person, that went without a doubt, but it was far too overwhelming, having half the Glade run by upon just waking up. Personally, Saeed believed that if anyone should greet the newcomer, it should be someone like Wynn, who was soft-spoken and sweet, but unfortunately, not every Glader was like that.

"I was just thinking that," he chuckled, genuinely amused that she'd seemingly read his mind. "I'll say hi later, but... Yeah. It's always so overwhelming when dozens of eyes are watching you. Hopefully this one's a bit of an extrovert, because it seems the Gladers aren't holding back, as per usual." A kind though playful smile flitted back onto his lips when the quiet Med-Jack mentioned the fire. "Yes... Because that's totally your thing." His tone was teasing, though it hinted at the truth, from what he knew, anyway. That was when the wildest Gladers took over and did something absolutely crazy. Saeed appreciated them for the socializing part, but it always got a bit out of hand.
