eden tilted their head, a smile tugging at the corner of their face. “yeah, i’m sure its the petticoat that’s the gorgeous thing here.” they savored the words, hesitating to elaborate. instead, they blew out a breath and tapped their hands on the floor. “can we go for a walk tonight? like we used to?” they asked slowly, avoiding kit’s gaze as they prepared to hear the answer they’ve been hearing for far too long.

He felt the small bumps as the carriage moved along the dirt road. He slowly started to see more and more buildings as he moved closer to the heart of the town. He tapped his fingers and bounced his knee slightly as he looked out the window trying to see people and other buildings. The carriage slowed to a stop as he grabbed his satchel from next to him. He stood up took a deep breath and opened up the door. He walked out and hopped down from the ledge onto the dirt path a small swirl of dust gathered around him. He squinted as the sun filled warmth within him as a small breeze brushed through his rolled up sleeves in his button up cream shirt and his brown trousers.

the playful expression on kit's face dropped. "eden, i-" he bit his lip, setting the needle down on the desk before him. he took a few moments to mull it over, looking down. "you know what? sure. i haven't been getting out as much as i'd like to have recently."

eden stood up suddenly, eyes narrowing as they took a step towards the door. “hey kitty, who’s that?” they murmured, beckoning kit towards them as they flicked a glance at the stranger who had just landed in town. “i need to go figure this out” they muttered, unholstering their gun and checking the rounds. their eyes cut to kit one more time before they grunted and left the shop, leaving nothing but the sound of the bell on the door behind them.

eden tilted their head and spun the revolver around their left hand as they walked towards the newcomer. upon seeing how young he looked, they holstered their gun and walked right up to them. amused, they looked him up and down. “you lost, boy? where are your parents?” they teased, despite the small and apparent age difference between the two. eden stood a solid 5 inches taller than them, raising an eyebrow as they waited for a response.

kit, with a roll of xyr eyes, followed eden out of the store, though not until after putting away xyr sewing materials in the drawer. following at their heels, xe nudged eden when they began to tease the newcomer. "hey, hey, ease up on the guy. what's your name?"

His eyes widened a bit as he saw them interrogating him. “Oh um funny you mention my parents..” His voice trailed off as he chuckled a little looking at the ground as his head filled with worries seeing the gun in their hands. “I’m Hermes, um how bout you?” He smiled awkwardly seeing a sort of tension between the two.

eden grinned, wrapping an arm around kit’s waist subconsciously and reached for a handshake with the other. “what brings you here? we haven’t much going on” they mused. “if you’re lost, i can help you out” they said with a wink, flashing their sheriff’s badge so it caught the light.

His eyes widened a bit as a blush crept over him, he quickly cleared his throat and shot out his hand to shake their hand. He pulled away adjusting his satchel quickly before speaking, “Oh well actually I came out here on a whim because I just needed to just leave my parents for a bit..we weren’t really getting along. He chewed the inside his cheek.

seemingly remembering that they should probably do something about that, eden shook his hand firmly. “well, i’m going to be honest; there’s not too much here. i have to get back to w- go and uh, check on the general store, i’m out of fruit. a modern tragedy, really. perhaps kit could show you around?” they motioned to kit beside them. they clicked their tongue, reluctantly letting go of kit as they gave the newcomer a nod. “i’ll be going now. the name’s rouge, eden rouge, if you ever need me.” they gave them both a little salute then spun on their heel, hands in pockets as they left the scene.

kit watched eden walk away, before shaking his head and turning to focus on hermes. "hermes, huh? interesting name. i guess i should show you around?" he waved his hand for hermes to follow him. "i'll show you to my shop first. after all, i don't get new customers all that often," he laughed.
