we are based in a small town in the wild west, sometime in the 1800s. not much happens here, and a tight-knit community leaves outsiders left in the dust.
when a newcomer arrives at the stables without a motive or a cent to their name, they catch the attention of two individuals who hold the town together with pride.
this stable boy throws off not only the social balance of the town, but causes ripples throughout everyone in power and shifts the dynamic between the sheriff and the tailor, a relationship hanging from a thread.
what will unfold as a result of this disturbance of the flow of a small western town?

eden slammed their head on their desk.
disputing wrongdoings amongst the citizens hurt their head. wasn't this supposed to be a lawless land?
they exhaled sharply, standing up and stretching their arms up above them as they glanced around for something to do.
catching glimpse of a white button-up shirt, a grin spread slowly across their face.
they strode over, took out their pocket knife from their pocket, and swiftly cut a hole in the front of the shirt.
"damn, guess i better leave this work and go see kit about this," they murmured to themself with a smirk.
the bell atop the door rang as the door shut, the sound of eden's boots becoming muffled in the dust.

kit sat at his desk, observing his written measurements of a petticoat he'd been ordered to sew a few days ago. xe mumbled it to xemself under xyr breath as xe opened xyr drawers to fetch the required materials, along with a scissors and sewing needle. xe whistled the tune of some familiar folk tune that xe couldn't quite name as xe did so.

eden whirled in through the door in a tornado of movement, trying to hide their excitement as their eyes locked onto kit.
"hey kitty, what d'yo think?" they shifted pressure onto their toes, spinning to show off their usual half-buttoned collared shift, tight fitting vest, and wide-legged pants. the spurs on their boots flashed in the lighting of the shop as they waltzed over to kit, looking xem in the eye as they placed the shirt on the side of xyr desk.
"this shirt has an abnormally well-cut hole in the abdomen, must have been a super hot and cool person who cut it. anyway, can you fix it?"

kit flinched just a little at eden's loud entrance, clearing his throat and setting his papers aside. he raised an eyebrow at the suspiciously cleanly-cut hole in the shirt. "of course i'll fix it, eden," he sighed, leaning back in his chair and putting his feet up on the desk, "but who did this? surely someone who would cut a hole in your nice white button up deserves some kind of punishment, or at least reprimanding, hm?"

eden blanked, standing there much like an idiot
"well. i think they can be pardoned, you know, just because the cut was so clean, and maybe they're cool, and maybe they didn't mean to and maybe they're very sorry and-" they cut themself off, clearing their throat. "anyway. i finished all my work for today, so i'm here to bother you" they smirked as they plopped to the floor, careful of the spurs on their boots. "what's up with the people lately?" they drawled, eyes raking over kit at his desk and they inquired him, a teasing note slipping into their voice as they managed a half-smile, eyes taking kit in.

kit smirked. "yeah, i'm sure they are cool." xe gently took the shirt from their hands, placing it down on the table before xem and starting to loop a string through their needle. "and eh. people as usual, business as usual, you know. was just about to start working on an order for a petticoat, actually, which i'm kind of excited about. i mean- clearly, gonna be a pain in the ass, but still, it should be a gorgeous result if i pull it off right."
