❝ PRINCE WITH A THOUSAND ENEMIES ❞BASICSname nildel-rah (means "chief hawk" in lapine)
gender male, buck
age 5 years
warren watership down warren
rank chief rabbit
APPEARANCEreference ✦
eye color dark amber
fur dark brown with pale undersides and a white patch along the chest
scars none currently
RELATIONSfamily deceased
interest none
doe none
kits none
SUMMARYprior to becomming the chief rabbit of the watership down warren, nildel-rah, or previously having just gone by hawk, was a well-known member of the owsla. he was strong, trustworthy, loyal to the prior chief rabbit, and proven to be a powerful asset. he climbed the ranks swiftly and before long became a captain of the owsla. named for his sharp eyes and keen hearing, hawk is always observant in any situation, scanning the area at whatever chance he gets. he led many raids on gardens for flayrah which would supply the chief rabbit at the time. never had he imagined that one day, the owsla would be gathering lettuces for him, too. but, despite his leadership, nildel-rah still remains rather involved with the everyday goings of the warren. unlike previous chief rabbits, or what is usually common of them, he regularly leaves his burrow to socialize and go about patrols himself, though usually flanked by trusted rabbits for the measure. he enjoys knowing all about those who comprise of his warren. though intimidating his size and appearance may be, the buck attempts to push a polite and friendly demeanor to his followers, and ensures that they can always maintain a level of trust in him. he'd rather be a loved leader than one who spends all of his days in a dark burrow, never contributing much more than just his word.
❝ THERE'S TERRIBLE EVIL IN THE WORLD ❞BASICSname meadow
gender female, doe
age 3 years
warren watership down warren
rank subordinate

eye color pale green
fur light, sandy fur, pale along the undersides, a white streak running between the eyes and further along the top of the head
scars none currently

SUMMARY born and raised in a warren that is still considered fairly young, meadow has had her fair-share of experiences. the warren has long grown and expanded its span over the generations that it has existed, and those that founded it have long past and become known, somewhat, as the "originals". their stories have continued to be passed-down and retold to young and old alike, with meadow being among the many who continues to tell the stories of the originals and their marvelous feats, including that of dandelion, her great-great grandfather of the sorts. the doe is one who is closely devoted and in favor of tradition, the way in which the rabbits and the warren have always gone about since el-ahrairah himself. when sudden changes take place or major events impact the warren, it often puts the doe in a sort of tizzy in which it may take her time to digest just what is going on through her head. but, like all wild rabbits, she also has the capability to think on a whim and do what is required of her in order to survive. rational and level-headed when needed, meadow proves that she can be a great marli which can provide much to the warren. she is also fairly sociable, and she intends to keep close relations with her fellow does of the warren.
❝ WE ALL HAVE TO MEET OUT MATCH SOMETIME ❞BASICSname brundwick
gender male, buck
age 3½ years
warren brierhold warren
rank owsla
APPEARANCEreference ✦
eye color bright amber
fur dark slate with brown undersides and white along the face, chest, and underbelly, as well as on a few legs
scars tattered ears, ripped in several places, and a few nicks along the forepaws
RELATIONSfamily deceased, descendant of captain vervain
interest none
doe none
kits none
SUMMARYbrundwick, a sleek rabbit with long legs and a formidable build, is one of great strength. it was no wonder the owsla accepted the buck among them, for to train him up prim and proper would surely turn him into a menace not to be threatened; and that it did. the buck's sheer size is about the only thing that really found him his way into the owsla, however. he's a clever rabbit, but one that the brierhold owsla recognized they'd have to keep a tight control on. he's one with many ideas, and yet he can be easily lured in the other direction. his loyalties lie with the warren that feeds and gives him a burrow to rest the night, sure, but it doesn't keep his mind from wandering. before he joined the owsla, the buck was quite a hassle to keep a grip on. he caused the older owsla a fuss almost constantly with his antics. but, no matter, they knew he'd grow larger with time and become a suitable member of their ranks. he was scooped into the owsla and trained up as quickly as they could manage, like a rider breaking-in their rowdy mustang. sure brundwick may now know all of the rules and regulations of the warren, how to act and keep himself in check, to be respectful to his chief rabbit and his higher-ups, and yet there's still the original courage of his youth that dwindles within. he seeks adventure, something to truly throw the normal everyday drag of warren-life into the chipper and grind it up into a million pieces.
❝ MY HEART HAS JOINED THE THOUSAND ❞BASICSname hindree
gender female, doe
age 2 years
warren brierhold warren
rank subordinate
APPEARANCEreference ✦
eye color emerald green
fur black otter rabbit, dark fur with white/tan fur along their undersides, eyes, ears, tail, and toes
scars just a few nicks here and there
RELATIONSfamily deceased
interest none
buck none
kits none
SUMMARYalthough still rather young, hindree seems more mature than her age often perceives her. many have said that it's almost as though the rabbit is a buck in a doe's body. she has a lean build and is rather large for a doe, and within her she has the drive equal of one in the owsla, though a privilege she'll likely never be given. she hasn't yet given a litter to the warren, though it is an obligation of a doe that she knows will, one day, have to be provided. hindree's intentions lie elsewhere. she'd rather achieve something greater in her lifetime than just the obligations of a marli. she'd rather find a higher place among the warren, one where her presence is known. but how could that ever be achieved? no matter, much like the craftier rabbits, the doe is full of ideas and innovations that the like-minded rabbits don't usually pay much mind to. she takes an approach to things that some rabbits would even consider other of their naturalistic ways. but it's in this way which makes her a valuable asset, in a way, to those that take her word. no matter, these ideas rarely leave the confines of the doe's mind. she's learned to keep her mouth shut around those of the warren, especially the owsla. how much longer she's willing to keep her mouth shut, however, only time can tell.

🌾 hemlock-rah
xx male, chief of brierhold warren. 4 and a half yrs.
xx a brown rabbit with spits of white, he has a few scars. looks a bit like this
xx no known family.
xxxxhemlock was the leader of the rebellion that wanted to raise efrafa to its former glory. he’s a very prickly buck, not tolerating disrespect. his temper flares easily, and it is better to catch him in a good mood. before becoming chief rabbit, hemlock was an influential member of the owlsa. he loves power, and usually will yearn for it. sometimes his ambitions blind him to things. hemlock is a witty rabbit. sometimes. he had to fight his way up, and his parents were both low-ranking members of the warren. he only trusts a few, mostly the members of the owlsa, but sometimes others.
----🥀 saffron
xx female, marli in the brierhold warren, 2 yrs
xx a rusty reddish rabbit with two green eyes.
xx no known family
xxxx saffron hardly accepts her place in the new warren, but she’s to scared to say anything about it. timid, saffron likes to do things quietly. it’s very hard for her to look on the bright side, and most of her dreams are nightmares. she’s much of an introvert, keeping to herself when going to eat outside. she wants to do what’s best for the warren, but doesn’t exactly understand what that is. she’s actually not that smart.
----🍃 hickory
xx male, part of the owlsa of the watership down warren, 3 yrs
xx a dimmed brown buck with some white spots and blue eyes.
xx no family alive, descendant of holly
xxxxa particularly outgoing buck. he loves to chat, and his loyalty to the warren is undying. hickory can often be found playing with the kits of the warren, acting like a kit himself. it’s not very often when he serious. but he is a trusted member of the owlsa, and will do what is needed. he’s not much of a storyteller, but loves it when the storytellers tell the story of how the warren was founded. the tale sounds so far away.. like it never happened, and it’s hard for him to imagine that the watership down warren somehow outwitted efrafa.
----🐝 honeysuckle
xx female, marli in the watership down warren, 5 yrs and a half
xx a honey-colored brown doe cream undersides and orange eyes.
xx no known family.
xxxx an elderly rabbit, honeysuckle is loving and well-respected in the warren. she’s never had a litter of her own, but she’s never met the right buck. she spends time by herself, walking the outskirts of the warren’s territory alone. most may see her as a lonely old doe. but she isn’t lonely. well, maybe a little.
[thanks to w0ah for helping me with name ideas. <3]

It was relatively silent among the deeper burrows of the warren where Nildel-rah took residence. He had just awoken from a deep slumber, his whiskers twitching against the dirt flooring. The sediment was no longer loose, compacted down by the generations of Chief Rabbits who preceded him. He couldn't quite tell what time of the day it was from within his nest, though he could guess that it was likely dawn, a prime-time for the rabbits to awake and feed before the heat of the day arrived. At the though of it, his slim ears perked atop his head and the sound of thumping above rumbled throughout his burrow, where rabbits were likely rushing through the tunnels on their way to silflay. Nildel-rah thought it would be well to join them. Rising from his crouch, he turned on his heels and bounded up the steep tunnel that led into his burrow. Standing guard at the entrance was Dawwood, a trusted member of the owsla. He gave him little more of a greeting than a nod of his head, then entered the cavernous space of the Honeycomb to which finally opened unto the outside world. Nildel-rah didn't yet partake in silflay. Instead, he place himself beside of one of the main tunnel entrances and watched the warren rabbits as they began to feed.
Meadow felt her eyelids flutter open as the rabbits tucked beside her began to squirm, readying to leave the burrow. It was likely dawn and, as all rabbits knew, a time of great opportunity for silflay. Meadow, however, wasn't quite awake yet. She laid her ears flat against her body as she remained curled in place among her nest. As a few of the rabbits began to rise and scamper their way through the tunnels, the doe suddenly found herself alone, in an empty and silent burrow. Every now and then, she'd turn an ear to catch the sound of rabbits thumping past the entrance of her burrow, heading their way through the tunnels to the outside. She shifted her position onto her haunches as she sat and groomed her pale whiskers, carefully kneading her paws against her fur. Meadow decided she'd find her way out to silflay eventually, and spend the rest of the day expanding the warren where it was needed. Does always were the ones to take upkeep of the burrows anyways, make sure they are structurally sound and suitable for a thriving warren.
Brundwick had managed little sleep throughout much of the night, but it was to be expected anyway when taking guard. He'd swap his position every now and then with a fellow owsla to rest his eyes, but although rather hopeful, sleep never came to him. Hemlock, a buck with a brown pelt speckled with white, stood adjacent to him outside the main tunnel of the warren. Their eyes strayed away from one another, both rabbits scanning the environment for whatever threats may pursue them. Dawn was rising and the warren was surely beginning to wake, preparing to silflay. Brundwick sighed audibly and hoped he'd be able to join them once his shift was through, maybe even find some rest while he was at it. That, though, was highly unlikely. Captain Groundsel always, with no fail, seemed to find something else for them to attend to. The buck nearly despised the lot of them, how they pushed him to work beyond even his own limits. Brundwick remained silent as he straightened himself, ears swiveling to and fro. Not much else he could really do, anyway.
Hindree remained relatively still as she crouched among her burrow. She dreaded the day that would come before her, already realizing it was dawn. She'd likely be put to work doing something of assistance for the warren anyway, at least whatever they thought good of her. Expanding the burrows, perhaps, or excavating a whole separate tunnel. Whatever it may be, she wouldn't enjoy the slightest bit of it. A few bucks had been eyeing her lately, though the doe wasn't quite interested in the courtship. The last thing she'd want at the moment would be another reason to be stuck in her burrow, a litter of kits among them. Starting through one of the tunnels, the doe's strong hind legs pushed her upwards until she finally exited into the open. The pleasant air of morning ruffled through her dark fur and only slightly lifted her spirits. She passed beside the owsla that stood guard at the entrance and found herself a patch of bright green grass, beginning to silflay.

[
hemlock]
the brown buck sat by the entrance, just outside of the main tunnel. his ears dropped once, sleep almost overtaking him. but he shook himself awake before sleep took over. the buck, hemlock, had an annoyed expression displayed on his face. there wasn’t much to make him annoyed that night, or day before, but he had woken up in a bad mood. it was nice to watch the sun rise, and dawn was a beautiful sight. hemlock set his front paw down, realizing he had been standing on his hind legs. the brown and white buck’s ears turned into the den, watching rabbits begin to stir and come out to silflay. a noise made him swiftly turn back to the outside, but nothing was there. soon, a dark-furred marli came out, passing brundwick and him to go out and silflay. hemlock watched her before glancing back at brundwick and then around.
[
saffron]
a rust red doe was just stirring as dawn approached brierhold. saffron’s green eyes blinked open. though she didn’t see the light of the sun just yet, she knew it was dawn. she sighed, springing to get up and make her way to the exit of the warren. it took the doe a little while to reach the surface. but when she did, it was nice to see the sun and green grass. sometimes the warren was a bit drab, in her mind, and all the shadows crept into her mind’s eye at night. saffron walked right by the owlsa members guarding the entrance, not wanting to engage in a conversation. her ears swiveled around, green eyes following. there were a few other does enjoying a meal, but saffron didn’t want to join them. she continued forwards, trying to find an isolated spot.
[
hickory]
a happy, young buck bounced as he walked around, saying hi to whoever he bumped into. the buck was searching for a nice place to silflay, and was just being his usual self on the way. his ears flipped to and fro, listening to every little sound. he almost bumped into two little kits, but stopped himself before doing so. smiling, hickory said “hi!! excuse me-” and walked out of the way, letting the two continue on what they were doing before. soon, hickory somehow found himself near the entrance of the honeycomb. there was a rabbit there which he instantly recognized as nildel-rah, the warren’s chief. the buck nodded his head in something of respect before saying, “hello nildel-rah.” and trying to seem a bit more like an adult than usual.
[
honeysuckle]
honeysuckle had been up early, and had already ate. she was now walking around after eating and watching the sun rise. dawn was a dazzling sight, she thought. her hind legs moved slowly while walking, causing her to walk very slowly. the honey-colored doe made her way back into the honeycomb, spotting a sand-colored doe who would’ve blended in with the dirt if not for a white stripe. the other doe was obviously expanding the warren, one of a doe’s duties to the warren. honeysuckle made her way over to meadow, soon standing next to the other doe. “hello, would you care for some help?”

Nildel-rah continued to watch and observe, with a hint of a smile upon his lips, as rabbits emerged and partook in their usual morning routines -- of feeding on the tendrils of grass and conversing between one another. Two sizable kits even emerged from their marli's burrow to bound about and enjoy the early dawn of spring. Watching, curiously, as a brown buck hopped throughout the open plain rather jovially, the Chief Rabbit smiled as he approached. "Hello, Hickory." He greeted, dipping his head slightly. "Enjoying the weather, I see?" He commented, followed by a light chuckle. It wasn't often that the buck ever missed a thing that any rabbit did, with his eyes sharp and keen to his environment.
It wasn't much longer into the morning before Meadow finally decided to leave the confines of her burrow and travel through the runs of the warren, reaching the wide underground space of the Honeycomb. She sat idly by, ears swiveling to and fro as rabbits shuffled past on their way to silflay. One rabbit, however, steered their direction toward hers, and was soon at her side. Meadow recognized the doe to be Honeysuckle. Whiskers twitching slightly, she tipped her head as the other began to speak. "Sure, I wouldn't mind a bit of company." Though the doe didn't seem rather lively in her response, Meadow placed a smile on her maw anyway and turned to begin. She found her way to one of the deeper walls of the Honeycomb, where the dirt was already beginning to crumble from the walls and gather at the flooring. She placed her paws on the surface and pressed lightly, testing the compaction of the dirt. She wanted to ensure that digging in this particular spot wouldn't cause for any concern, such as for cave-ins. So far, it seemed like a trustworthy location to dig. She began right were she stood, deciding to start out in straight run that sloped downward slightly. "This seems like a good place to start." She remarked, kicking dirt out from behind her using a pair of sturdy hindlegs.
The large buck watched with observant eyes as the doe passed them out through the entrance toward the open patches of grass to silflay. Brundwick recognized her, though didn't know much more about her than a name. She was a mysterious figure of the warren, to say the least. Hemlock seemed to notice her pass by as well, and the continued passing of more and more rabbits as they left the runs into the open morning air. "By Frith, I'm starving." Brundwick remarked, murmured softly beneath his breath. He hadn't meant for his words to be heared, but it was likely the other guard had heard. He glanced over toward the buck through the corner of his eyes and released a low chuckle of the sorts. He was sure Hemlock felt much the same.
