Zya could feel her face become a bit flushed and her eyes widened a little at him. Why? He seemed to be staring at her a little, attention was all on her. She tucked her hair behind her ear and nodded slightly as she looked at the ground. "Thanks...." It wasn't often that someone complimented her. He seemed to be thinking because he was quiet.
Then her attention went to Nick who she waved off. But with that, she turned her attention back to Taurus who seemed to be internally fighting himself. But from what? For a moment her old self returned "Hey...are you okay?" She asked taking a step towards him, hazel eyes looking up at him. She put her hand on his blazer gently. A playfulness hinting in her eyes. He seemed distracted, all the more to have some fun.
She stood on the tip of her toes, secretly keeping his attention on her so she could slip her hand into his jacket pocket. Grabbing the stone and winking at Taurus and spinning around and taking a few steps away, "This thing is quite interesting." She paused as she heard a faint voice from the rock, it reminded her of the shadow, holding the rock up over her head in between her index and thumb as she closed one eye at it. "It...speaks?" she said quietly, it was mostly to herself but if Taurus tried hard enough he could probably hear what she said. But before she could go too much into detail or have him ask for the stone back she grabbed his hand and put the stone back in his hand. Once she released the stone the whispers stopped.
It was then that she heard a gunshot. It echoed and ricocheted off the walls, and made a ringing noise in her ears. Normally she wouldn't give a care in the world about something like that. But this time something shifted within her, she let go of Taurus' hand and darted out of the store, clothes were not paid for but she didn't care. Pushing through the crowd that surrounded a person laying on the ground. It was in that moment that time stood still, she looked to Nick, blood surrounding him. "N-nick?" she whimpered slightly, words quivering and stuttering. "Nick!" she yelled as she ran up to him and knelt down beside him, picking him up in her arms. "It's okay. You're fine." she said as she tried to make herself believe he wasn't already gone. Tears threatened to fall, her hood still down.
She looked at everyone around her "Why aren't you helping him!?" she screamed as tears started to stream down her face. Her face looked to Nick's his was pale, and no responses to her. "No....please. You....you are all I have left Nicky.." she whimpered once more. At this point the shadow was starting to feed off of Zya's emotions. 'They did nothing. They sat there and let him die....' it said to her.
Just a short time skip for Nick to speed his actions up

Nick had been working like any other day, each job was different, each task was different. And they were usually done rather quickly, like no longer than 30 minutes or an hour. Usually. And he had been walking back to the clothing shop he had left Zylah and Taurus in. He had let his guard down, not paying attention to his surroundings. Someone ran up to him.
Click. Bang.
The sound echoed through the pathways and could be clearly heard in the clothing store. It wasn't even a chance, a clean shot to the chest, killed him instantly, as he lay on the ground, motionless. People started to gather around murmurs about what had happened. A girl it seemed, though it was hard to tell because she had a mask on her face, all that could be made out was the small strand of hair that fell out from the hood she had up, blonde. And a flash of blue eyes. The girl made her retreat into the shadows and escaped.
