    ↪↪ MIRAI
xxxleader of banata - nonbender // mentions: shou, yura // tags: rikka, cai, lee, zyri
xxxThe pair moved through the city, choosing the roofs rather than the streets. Mirai's mask was distinctive, but nobody outside of Banata knew what her face looked like - that was the benefit of wearing the mask, but the down side was that she could be picked out in a crowd if she raised her hood. They had almost arrived back at their current base when Rikka's phone buzzed in a call from Lee, who evidently was worried about where the two women had disappeared to. Mirai was always first at base, so she couldn't fault him for concern, though she had no doubt that any member of Banata could take care of themselves even if they had run into a spot of trouble. She followed Rikka across the last couple of buildings before landing neatly on the roof of their warehouse, cracking open the latched door to drop down into the top floor space. "I've got plans for tonight--" but her words were cut short as a familiar voice rang through the warehouse from the ground floor entrance. Lee was the loudest of the lot and really lacked tact, but she supposed it didn't matter so much since this was their safe house. She smirked under her mask, striding across the floor littered with bird droppings, to lean out over the edge of the metal railing to look down on the others. Sure enough, Zyri and Cai had returned to base as well. "Welcome home," she called down to them, before straightening up - she meant business now, raising a hand and gesturing for the others to join her and Rikka in the upper level. The warehouse was temporary, as their bases always were, and didn't boast many of their personal belongings, nothing that could give away any information about the group as a whole. But, the upper level did have a well-worn table sitting by the red brick wall under a skylight, where they had drilled a bullet board up with a map of Republic City. They never marked anything on it, if the cops ever found this base of course the group would be compromised. It was this map now that Mirai turned to, drawing her hands behind her back as she heard footsteps approaching to listen in.
xxxWhen everybody had gathered round, she pointed to the map. "Just so we all know," she started, "Rikka froze a man in the this morning, so best to avoid this area for now, the cops are sure to be a tad more vigilant." Smirking behind the mask, she moved her hand across the map, her posture pin-straight now as her tone became more serious. Her index finger rested on the street where she had seen the Northern Water Tribe Princess going into a fancy apartment with an unknown man. Tapping the worn map with confidence, she kept her finger over the street as she turned to look at the rest of the gang. "We're going to ambush the Princess of the Northern Water Tribe tonight, right here - it's a bold move, but she doesn't appear to be exceptionally protected, she only seems to have a companion with her. A boy that looks like a skunk, I couldn't quite figure out which element is his, but it's likely to be water since he's accompanying the Princess." As she withdrew her hand from the map, Mirai spoke naturally with her hands. "We kidnap the Princess to get the council's attention. We'll release her if they agree to adjust the political powers held by the Avatar to what I purposed two months ago. The Avatar should not have the power to side against any other nation, and they should not have any political influence in the laws and regulations of any region - all nations must be free to make their own laws, to suit their own people, without the Avatar's influence."

Leaning back in her chair so only two legs were on the floor Cai listened to Mirai's kidnapping plan. It was a bold move, but it was time for some action. The plan was solid. They had been practicing for something like this for months now. Their smaller stunts only did so much. Something this big would get a lot of attention. If kidnapping a freaking princess was the only way to get their voices heard or at least start the discussion in the first place then so be it. Cai chewed on her lower lip as she thought over what to do with the unknown party.

"As much as I am all for this plan I would feel more comfortable knowing who this second person is. Don't get me wrong I'm always down for a good fight, but in order for this to go smoothly we need to know all of the facts. I'm willing to do some recon myself if needed." Cai leaned forward letting the two chair legs down on the floor placing her elbows on her knees resting her head on her crossed hands. She looked to the other members to see if they were thinking the same thing she was. “Besides what do you want to do with the unknown? Are we taking them out or bringing them with us?”

Rikka looked at Mirai curiously as she explained that they had plans. She was about to ask more about this plan as she heard Lee's voice blast through the warehouse. Rikka rolled her eyes and leaned back on the wall as Mirai instructed them to come up. She waved off Lee's concerned look she was aware she probably looked like a hot mess with the blue tear stains. Nothing a make up wipe and a brush couldn't fix. Growing up as well as Mirai had been close to her family so had Lee, she dared to say perhaps Lee had a tighter connection to the refugees than Mirai considering she disappeared for so long, so he deserved to know as well.

Rikka listened to the plan in detail now this is exactly what she needed, today she had figured out how to remove the water out of almost anything, the first steps of blood bending which she was more than excited to share with the rest of the group, although they would all have to wait until they went into battle. What an entrance, watching everything around you die before getting kidnapped. Completely unnecessary, but effortless and Rikka was a master at showing her power. " I gotta say Mirai you never fail to impress me, its a bold plan, risky but bold. Not only will it cause tension with the council but the water nation will be looking for an explanation. The princess getting kidnapped right under the authorities eyes will have the other Nations questioning just how much under control does the government have things."

She thought for a second about the other party and just shrugged "I say we end him right there. Against one of us he might be a match but against all of us there is no chance. It's five versus two, two distract and the other three take the princess. We have everything even the government wishes they had, training and combat styles they haven't seen in centuries and better yet, never before seen weapons" She put up her finger as to excuse herself and walked into the next room. Luckily for them she had finished working on her experiments the night before. She came back into the room with some objects covered with a protective sheet.

"I know you guys have been complaining on me training you all on traditional fighting styles I swear it's for a good reason. Eventually we will all be able to use these which is the goal but for now what each individual excels in will have to do." She took out a staff that had two metal balls at the end of them. "Zyri due to your flexibility and size you have been able to master air bending style fighting pretty easily. So you will be using this electric glider, when its in its staff form you can create an electricity shield with it electrocuting anyone who touches it just by spinning it. It also will turn into a glider by pressing on a button in the middle" She demonstrated by lifting the staff up and spinning it above her head. Once she caught speed the balls started to glow blue creating a shield with the circle motion of the spinning. She stopped spinning it and the staff turned off. She handed it off to Zyri before reaching back to the pile and taking out a boomerang.

"Lee you will be using the boomerang considering you've been the best at it so far. This one will open up like a switch blade when it reaches a certain speed, it will bring out three spear like blades that will cause extra damage even if it just swings around a person. I won't be demonstrating it since it's pretty self explanatory just throw it like you have been in training" She went back to the pile, a glimpse of excitement in her eyes taking out a sword made out of stone. "Cai this one is just for you. The goal you've been able to control your lava bending particularly well, you've also been pretty decent at sword fighting. The trick of this weapon is that you will be able to heat up the stone. The molten rock will be un bendable to other earth benders and I think the damage this can do is pretty self explanatory."

She looked over at Mirai "And you, you have your precious guns. I will be using fans similar to those the Kyoshi warriors used but I have made them into energy weapons as well" she said taking out the fans. She looked over at Lee who had a certain look on his face as expected. Although she loved exceeding expectations she loved messing with the kid. "Lee wipe that stupid look off your face you act as if I don't come up with mind blowing things on the daily"

Lee smirked knowing well he irritated Zyri and Cai, its what he did best. He looked up hearing Mirai's voice, he smiled and waved at her going immediately up the stairs as she waved them all over. He was the first one to make it up the stairs of course. It wasn't a competition but for Lee almost everything was a competition. He got in the room where Rikka and Mirai were sitting. He had to do a double take at Rikka.

She had blue make up dried up down her cheeks, had she been crying? What exactly had happened this morning? He gave her a concerned look which was ignored by Rikka. Then proceeded to give Mirai a questioning look, before he could get any answers Zyri and Cai joined them upstairs. He listened to the plan, he just wanted to make sure he knew what was going to go down so he could do his part without mistakes. The whole political value this had didn't really matter to him. He'd never really kidnapped anyone before, usually it was seen as a bad thing but they needed this, plus he knew they weren't going to hurt the princess.

He rolled his eyes as Rikka sided with killing who ever was with the princess, of course he wasn't phased by that it was something completely typical for her to say. He listened to Rikka as she went off about how she had trained them and how they had the upper hand. He knew she took that with pride, he raised a brow when she mentioned weapons. What weapons? He gave everyone a questioning look as Rikka went off into the other room. Soon coming back with a bunch of items.

Lee watched in awe as she explained each item. He liked to think he was pretty smart but definitely not smart enough to come up with those concepts or ever even make them into a reality. He was dumbfounded as how she always managed to pull something off. He held the boomerang in his hands and studied the carved details of water nation symbols in them. This wasn't just some metal slapped on metal she had taken time to make these come together as if they were artifacts that needed to be in some museum.

He suddenly felt much more comfortable and confident with the plan, Rikka did have a point by teaching them these fighting styles, their opponents wouldn't be able to even scratch the surface to what they were up against. Rikka had also been heavily training both himself and Cai on bending and how to apply all bending styles to their element allowing them to work as a great team mixing their bending. His thoughts were interrupted by Rikka he rolled his eyes. "Sorry I couldn't hear you, your ego is a little too loud" he teased and smirked at her. "Good job though these are sick"

yura ☁︎ naqi

[gender] female [age] twenty [nation] water [alliance] none yet [ location ] apartment -> street [ tagged ] shou

Hearing her friends stomach rumble Yura suppressed a smile, with all the time they'd spent on the road she'd figured he would be hungry by now. Just as well they eat anyways, as Yura listened to Shou rattle off several of the options nearby the princess could feel her mouth begin to water at the thought of getting to sit down and eat. With all the excitement and nerves of travelling here, Yura had eaten very little in comparison to when she was home. Pulling her phone out from her back pocket Yura waved Shou upstairs "alright, alright, leave all the decisions to me why don't you." she called to his retreating back. Turning her back to the soft breeze from the balcony Yura followed Shou's example and scooped up her bags still flicking through the list of restaurants and admiring the sheer variety that existed in the city. Though she was up for trying something new Yura felt that maybe her stomach would welcome something familiar.
Turning the screen to black Yura tossed the phone as well her belongings onto her bed and looked around her room, it seemed fine and well furnished but it also felt blank. The idea of blank space pulled at Yura, yes, not only to help her friend but to give herself room to grow, that was why she was here. Why she'd argued with her father and convinced him to let her come along, even if she could still see the doubt in his eyes. Blinking away the memory Yura began to unpack pulling out an array of traditional water nation clothes and hanging them up in the closet, looking over the furs and thick cloth that made up her daily wear Yura already felt herself sweating. When faced with constant snow and chill of the north pole Yura welcomed layers but as they'd moved further south Yura found herself ill-prepared for the warmer climate. Maybe she'd have to go, little ba sing se fashion mall, like Shou'd suggested earlier. Maybe once she'd gotten more used to the city she could go on a quick excursion to the mall, definitely didn't want to bother Shou with a silly shopping trip. For now, at least she'd get by with the two or three thinner tunics she had.
Hearing a familiar voice call out for her from the hallway Yura rolled her eyes and replied in kind "Coming, babe!" before tucking her phone away and meeting Shou outside their rooms. Linking one of her arms through his Yura pulled her friend down the hall and towards the door, "You really think I'd let my dear friend starve?" she asked feigning offence. Back on the street, the princess felt a little more confident, she at least knew which direction she was going thanks to Shou's balcony tour and the address of narook's seaweed noodlery still in her mind she began to move them into the crush on the street. The Northern Water Tribe was by no means a small place but once again the sheer volume of people amazed Yura, even the sky seemed more cluttered with buildings. "So I was thinking narook's seaweed noodlery, so I can try some of my sister tribe's cuisine," Yura informed Shou as they passed through the street, "but I'm also not against getting dessert somewhere else." she added with a wink. If there was anyone to be trusted with finding the perfect dessert it would have to be Shou.

haruto kuroda

Nodding in agreement Haruto began to feel some of his frustration boil over, being one step behind Banta was not going to help the Animal Spirits catch them. However, other than regular patrolling and monitoring police reports the fire prince felt trapped in a loop lagging just behind a group of thugs. His own thoughts in turmoil Haruto found himself shifting his gaze from the crime scene to Jinpa as she gave him advice about having a better day. Smile and a laugh huh? Feeling the corners of his mouth twitch in amusement Haruto raised an eyebrow at the air bender "I'm quite capable of both," he answered, "I just don't always have a reason to." he added a gleaming smile spreading across his lips. The image of a perfect gentleman was seemingly all Haruto could achieve, though his smile was there it was practised and surface level. Another neat trick learned in the halls of his home. Allowing it to dissipate just as quickly as he'd summoned it Haruto didn't feel the need to pretend to be happy when Jinpa was around. The young woman had an uncanny ability to figure out his true feelings anyways. Nodding at her assessment Haruto felt a soft tug of irritation, Mako knew exactly what he thought about him being late.
No sooner had he dropped the smile than intending to get back to business when he noticed someone catch Jinpa's eye, turning to confirm for himself Haruto felt his body relax a little as he recognized his friend. Even if he was late, at least he brought tea, Haruto thought, accepting the cup and the tease that came with it. Glancing at Jinpa as she chimed in and elbowed him in the side, thankfully not hard enough to spill his tea. Taking a sip before replying Haruto smirked "At least I have no illusions about my soul." he replied in good humour. What they called dark and doom and gloom Haruto called reality, people were greedy, selfish, and manipulative. Maybe there were a few good ones but the fire prince was under no illusion that he was one, he was just trying to do his best in his own way. Brow creasing at Mako's mention of a weird dream, this wasn't the first time his friend had mentioned weird dreams. His suspicions only furthered by Jinpa's comment on the spirit world Haruto ignored her quip and focused on Mako's face. He seemed tired but also unwilling to discuss what he saw. Taking another sip of the strong warm liquid Haruto placed a hand on his friend's shoulder "You know, as the avatar" he began softly, "you'll need to get better at sharing." flicking his eyes briefly towards Jinpa he added chuckling "and air bending."

___Hamako narrowed his eyes slightly, contemplating his response. Did I go to the spirit world? he wondered, it certainly seemed like it... but his hair... maybe that only happened when he was awake? "Hard to say-" he sighed, remembering neither of them had seen him dip his foot into that realm yet, or after for that fact. "Something kind of happens when I go there, and it lasts a few days... so lack of change in hair and eye color says no- but it was very similar... just in my dream, I was at the end of my rope, not able to keep fighting and the there was a-" he cut himself off as he realized what had been going on witht he police. "Woa, what did I miss?" he asked, taking another bite of his muffin.
___Mako laughed and shook his head, his smile fading a little as she mentioned Haruto's frown. "Honestly if not for the tea I would be on the same page... training all day, and then training in my sleep isn't the perfect picture of rest," he sighed a bit. "Yeah-yeah, half baked avatar's more like it..." he nearly growled. "Still not a drop of water, or dirt claud moved, not even in my sleep," he grimaced. "So- what's on the schedule today," he asked looking at both of them before looking out over the scene in front of them.

"Part of the exercise is to make you find a reason to smile-that's one of my secrets!" The smile the firebender showed her was one she had seen many times, but it still left chills on her skin. It may not be apparent to others, but Jinpa found it more disconcerting to see a fake smile, so carefully crafted to seem just right for the occasion, and feel his ocean of dark and serious emotions behind it, than his normal, quiet and brooding personality. It almost broke her heart to see someone unable to find even an ounce of genuine happiness.

Eyeing up the cops across the street, Jinpa sighed to herself and looked down at the ground as Haruto and Hamako traded jabs. She felt proud of far Hamako had come in his air training, but she knew as well as the others how much there was left to go. Not to mention she was well-aware of how much the avatar worried about his struggles with the remaining two elements. That was often something she felt held him back more than Hamako was aware of, his mental doubt could seep into other parts of his life and even hinder his bending with fire and air. Jinpa was just as worried about his mental state as his physical and spiritual. "Well, let's not let these wonderful drinks get cold! We should drink them now before we continue. That will give us time to discuss what we plan to do." She slipped between the two young men before her and sat down on a small window sill cross-legged, with her staff in one hand and drink in the other. "Besides, we need them to leave before we can get any real information." The air bender was careful to cover her mouth with the coffee cup as she spoke, in case someone was reading her lips. She removed the lid and blew on the drink lightly, using her bending to assist in cooling it down enough to drink before she took a long sip. The light flavour and aroma almost danced in her mouth as Jinpa let it distract her from her concerns regarding Haruto's personality and Hamako's bending-those could be addressed at a later date. "This is really good, thank you Hamako!" She flashed a sunny smile and gestured to Haruto's drink. "Want me to cool it down for you? It might stay hot forever in your hands, Mr. Firebender!"

It did not take the authorities long to clear out-they had been at the crime scene before even Jinpa had shown up and had enough officers to make quick work of a small, isolated incident such as this. Once they left, Jinpa jumped down from her perch, letting the momentum carry her into a light jog across to the other sidewalk. Whoever had been inside the ice had been freed, but not all of the ice had been cleaned up, and she could take a look at the way the edges of the ice prison were shaped and could guess as to where the attacker had been in relation to the victim, how big it had been (and guess at how much energy would be needed for something of that size). "Well, it doesn't look like there's any specific identifying evidence left here. Either that means they were good enough to not leave anything except their ice, or the police have it in their custody now." She looked towards Haruto "What do you think we should do? Head back to base and talk or see if we can track them down?"

the decision for the noodlery was exactly what shou wanted to hear. the noodlery was quite cheap, but pretty much the only restuarant that the family could afford when he was younger. it was a treat, and I mean a rare treat for them to ever go to a restaurant to eat. usually it was rice, bread, potatoes, and on the off chance chicken. even those meals were sometimes sparse. going to the noodelry was almost like reliving an old memory. now, he was not with his birth family, but instead with the one of the closest people he had to family. shou was more thankful to have yura with him in republic city than she knew, and it took everything for her father to let her go, with a little behind the scenes convincing of course. he would most likely not get done what was needed if he was on his own. yura kept him straight, and she also gave him something to fight for in a way. without her by his side, he would most likely resort back to his ways of crime in the end. that or he would become some big shot probender with no sense of modesty or manners. so either way, not a great turn out.

shou happily allowed himself to be pulled out of the apartment and down the street. he, of course, knew where he was going and was quite surprised that yura had picked up her sense of direction so quickly. they were headed straight to the noodlery, straight to a mouth-watering meal that'll leave him in a food coma, save a little room for dessert. with his arm still encased by yura's, shou floated through the crowd of passersby yelling for cabs, yelling for friends, and simply yelling for no reason. he looked down at yura as she mentioned trying the southern tribe cuisine. "I'm honestly quite surprised you've never visited the southern tribe before. not that I have either, but being born into the sister tribe you'd think you would have visited at least once before. you won't be disappointed in the meal, and I know the PERFECT place for dessert. it'll knock your socks off...even if you aren't wearing socks." a curious crime scene came into view on their path, but shou thought nothing of it. things like that happen in republic city and there was nothing that could be done about it except cleaning up the mess and doing some heavy investigation. even then it was possible that the culprit would never be caught. for example, shou and his brother got away with 50 too many crimes back in their teen years. investigations rang throughout the city, but they were never caught. that is until another street rat sold them out.

deep into his past, shou hadn't realized that their journey to the noodlery was over. all of a sudden a huge 'open' sign lit up his face and invited him into the establishment. he pulled yura in quicker than a cheetah chasing after prey and asked for a seat for two. after being seated, shou ordered water, yura ordered her drink, and the waitress left the two to decide on their main course. shou, having already been here, knew his order would be simple: a bowl of seaweed noodles and a side of blubbered seal jerky. nothing hit the spot better than some chewy, smoky blubbered seal jerky...nothing except dessert...but that came later. he put his menu down and took a moment to envision what the restaurant looked like nine years ago. now, there were many more paintings for sure, more customers, and a more uniformed staff. "it's crazy to see how much this place has changed since I've been here. honestly, since the entirety of republic city has changed. there's always been an overload of people, but now it looks even more packed. I hope you grow to like it though like you'll grow to like this food! what are you getting?"

a familiar voice rang in zyri's ears as she was greeted with a 'welcome home' by their fearless leader. yeah, zyri held the title of co-leader, but she more fit a rank of....second in command. she didn't have the drive or in depth plans like mirai, though she did have the cunning and sly personality to follow out those plans. they worked well together, as did the rest of the team. they were like a pack of strays that no one wanted, but some how banded together to create a seamingly unstoppable force, one that was no to be reckoned with. zyri sauntered up the stairs after the others, taking a seat on the arm of the worn out sofa that provided uncomfortable seating for a few members of the group. mirai started her announcement which turned out to be a plan that was marked with some daring actions. kidnapping the northern water tribe princess? first off, why was she here without protection?second off, why does this make shift bodyguard look like a skunk?

two questions that would probably never be answered were pushed to the back of her mind when mirai spoke of the hypothetical outcome of this ruse. if this kidnapping really did bring banata to their end goal of cutting the avatar's political power to almos zero, it would be remarkable. "I think you've really outdone yourself on this one mirai. I guess that's why you're in charge!" zyri hit mirai with a playful wink before cai brought up a good point. what would they do with so-called skunk boy? would they let him go in order to send the message? would they capture him too? according to rikka, straight-up murder was also an option.

an objection was on zyri's tongue, but she suppressed the thought as rikka mentioned new weapons. zipping her mouth, she listened to each of rikka's weapon explanations. each one was built with such intricacy, detail, and research. zyri received a peaceful looking staff, but she knew it was anything but that. she was content with rikka's praise of her flexibility and air bender fighting style mastery. she always enjoyed a little appreciation of her hard work here and there. the words 'electricity shield' definitely sparked no pun intended zyri's interest. the demonstration of the weapon was all it took for zyri to be hooked. she took the weapon from rikka with a grateful glance and immediately began scanning the staff. engravings in the wood signified the symbols of an airbending acolyte and the cloth in the wings was a fan-like fabric. a truly magnific weapon, indeed. zyri was itching to try out the weapon immediately but knew that she must hold off until their next battle ensued, which would be soon if they were going to go through with the plan to kidnap the princess. "well I'm sure I speak for the others, too, when I say thank you. these are magnificent weapons rikka, your talent never ceases to amaze me. but you knoooooooooow...those fans really do match with your complexion well. and you know what else it would fit with? non-runny, non-blue, non-staining pink eye shadow." a sly smile slid onto zyri's face as she leaned closer to rikka and said "you know who to come to when you're ready for a change." teasing rikka with brighter makeup ideas was zyri's true specialty to be honest and her favorite pastime.

___"Good idea," Mako nodded, taking a seat next to his seifu. Leaning back against the window, the young avatar tilted his head a bit to whisper to Jinpa quietly. "Need them to leave? Why don't I just light a fire under their-" he paused, moving his hand a little lower, a bit close to Jinpa's leg as it was hiding under the leg she had crossed over the other and a small ball of fire forming in his palm. As predicted though, he quickly put his flame away as a few pedestrians walked by. "Darn... Oh, you're welcome, I will have to pass the thanks on to the Tea Shop across from my building, I've gotten to know them pretty well and they gave these to me on the house," he replied, sipping his own tea. Hamako hadn't been with the tea makers he once lived with for long, but in his time there, he did learn a lot about the process and properties of a good tea.
___Mako found that it had actually help calm some of his unruly behavior, having to learn about and craft tea with his foster family- it was a gentle approach, one that he had steeped into, like tea. Living in the air nation hadn't lasted more than a few days so it was definitely progressing. Mako looked up at Haruto, a smirk on his face as he wondered if he too would have benefitted from some tea education in his past and what could be going on between the two. Groups usually grow close when they work together, but Mako couldn't help but wonder if the pair were getting closer than he was to either of them... part of his problem was through all the training, he still felt like that was all he did.
___Following Jinpa down the street to the scene, Mako rose a brow and looked between the two. "But why not melt the ice?" he wondered. "They wanted to be found perhaps?" he ventured further. Again, Jinpa looked to Haruto, further confirming the interest he thought they had for one another, which only confirmed his own ideas that he should be working harder on his bending since they were likely to spend time together without him, what else was he going to do? "Maybe one of the others saw something?" he smirked, his hand moving to his mask, tucked under his shirt.

yura and haruto

yura ☁︎ naqi

[gender] female [age] twenty [nation] water [alliance] none yet [ location ] street -> noodle house [ tagged ] shou

The crime scene they passed on the way to the noodle house unsettled Yura but didn't seem to phase the people around them, a common occurrence in a city like this perhaps. Despite her excitement, the princess could also feel a pit of fear begin to form in her stomach, everything was so unknown here. When Shou spoke about living here as a child she felt that she knew her friend less for it, she didn't ask him about the past never wanting to hurt him by reminding him of all the loss in his life. Shame reared its ugly head as Yura pushed down her own sense of loss, her father hadn't even announced it yet but she could feel it coming. Glancing at her friend Yura shrugged "You know the chief, he was worried I'd embarrass him" she answered truthfully, by the time she was twelve Yura had stopped asking to accompany him, "I believe you, you've never been wrong about a dessert before" she claimed confidently.
Pulling away from the scene before them Yura was now looking for numbers printed above doorways as they got closer and closer to the noodle house. She was so focused on the numbers that Yura didn't even notice the storefront until the neon lights flickered into her vision and Shou finally took over. He seemed excited to be here and before she knew what was happening Yura found herself seated at a table across from Shou holding a menu. Glancing down Yura examined her options, maybe something simple would be good for now, though the smells wafting from the kitchen were absolutely tantalizing Yura didn't want to overindulge especially since they were getting a treat after. The item descriptions had many ingredients Yura recognized making the princess feel more at home, though at opposite ends of the world it seemed that the sister tribes were truly sisters. Even if she was from the north Yura felt a sense of pride when the south had risen against tradition to establish themselves as an equal power, it made sense as the world around them changed, traditions had to be questioned and their purpose understood. Easier said than done of course. Her eyes flicked up in response to her friend's words and Yura smiled "Well I was thinking of the seaweed noodles and the plate of sides to add in" she admitted placing the menu back on the table, considering his words Yura absentmindedly traced a design along the wood surface "This place is so different from home, but that's what's exciting! And on top of that, I'm here with you!" Giving her friend a wink Yura sat back with a smile, Shou was a second family for her, and whatever they faced here they'd face it together.
When the waitress came back to deliver Shou's water and her sweet tea the pair placed their orders, taking a sip of her tea Yura could feel the cool liquid go down her throat and spread. Being used to the constant cold of the north the water nation princess found herself in the unique situation of trying to stay cool, soup probably wasn't the brightest idea to this end but it reminded her of home. Soon enough their food came and Yura could feel her stomach growl as the bowl was set down in front her along with a plate of seal jerky, sea prunes, and some thinly sliced halibut. Adding a few pieces of each into her noodles Yura eagerly dove into her meal, trying not to slurp too much Yura glanced at Shou with bright eyes. "This is great!" she mumbles into her hand, it wasn't like anyone here knew she was a princess so Yura felt free to relax her etiquette just a little. If she were home her mother would be making her sit up straighter and would shoot her a look if she made any sort of sound, without that constant pressure the princess was beginning to unwind. Sipping the last spoonful of soup Yura glanced at her friend "That was delicious, I think I've found my favourite place to eat." she declared leaning back truly content, "I don't know how I'm fitting dessert in but I'll try" she added with a grin.

haruto kuroda

[gender] male [age] twenty-one [nation] fire [alliance] animal spirits [ location ] crime scene [ tagged ] jinpa, mako

Letting his two teammates sit back on a windowsill Haruto takes another sip of his tea enjoying the warmth of the tea in his hands and the bold taste. However, the best tea Haruto had ever enjoyed was the shop that Mako's adoptive family-owned and the reason the two men had even met in the first place. Mako was one of the only people who Haruto considered a friend when they'd met Mako didn't know who the fire prince was and more importantly he hadn't cared when he found out. There'd been countless people in the young prince's life that treated him differently once they found out he had a crown and a title so now that he was here in Republic City, on a secret mission no less, it was a chance at true anonymity. Besides if things kept going the way they were Haruto wouldn't be Fire Lord.
Jinpa's voice brought Haruto back to the pair as she offered to cool his tea, rather than a response Haruto merely took another sip of his tea and looked over as the last few officers left the scene. It seemed that most people around the area had gone back to usual too, crime wasn't uncommon in this city and especially with Banta gaining momentum there'd been a rise in reports. Adjusting the strap of his bag Haruto followed behind Jinpa and the avatar as they looked over whatever was left of the scene. True enough it appeared that whoever had been trapped inside would've lived, and like Mako said they hadn't melted the ice before they'd left. Either they were trying to kill this person or "It could also be that they needed to leave or risk being caught or seen." Banta members were difficult to locate they knew how to hide in a crowd and how to make quick escapes, "but if we need to know for sure," Haruto added looking around and spying a woman sweeping the street in front of her store.
Approaching her with an easy smile on his face Haruto gave the woman a small bow "Hello miss, I was wondering if you saw what happened?" he asked her curiosity sparkling in his eyes. Jinpa was the exception, this woman seemed to believe his smile and friendly tone as most people did. His practised persona was something that Haruto didn't like relying on, it was easy to manipulate people but it was exhausting to try and keep it up. People were truly exhausting, especially in a packed place like Republic City. Listening to her explanation of the events Haruto managed to get a better picture of the situation though not the whole story, based on how the streets usually were it was understandable that she hadn't seen the entire thing take place. With a final bow and a murmured "Thank you" Haruto turned back to his teammates as the smile fell from his lips.
Draining the last of his tea from his cup Haruto rejoined Jinpa and Mako around the now slowly melting ice. Tapping the side of his now empty cup Haruto's eyes landed on the ice "Sounds like this wasn't planned," he began moving his gaze to his companions, "the woman I spoke to heard the man shouting before it all got out of control." he explained. Though it wasn't much to go off of Haruto glanced at Jinpa remembering her question, "it might be worth it to have a look around to see if we can pick up their trail." he answered if this wasn't planned perhaps it was closer to their base. Though it was admittedly a small chance there was still a chance, however, he wasn't the leader of their so-called group. Dark gaze flicking to Mako, Haruto wanted to know what he thought about all this.

Watching Rikka hand out her newest inventions Cai couldn’t help but grin. The things that Rikka could come up with never ceased to blow her mind. She was truly an evil genius. The glider for Zyri fit her perfectly. Honestly Cai wanted to try it out for herself. She had yet to get the hang of the movements that were in air bending. Being elegant was something Cai was never good at. Cai had to cover her mouth when Rikka gave Lee the boomerang. It was too perfect. Sure it came with a lot of cool features – I mean who didn’t love blades – but the fact that it was a boomerang was just perfect. Apparently she wasn’t very good at hiding her amusement based off of the glare that Lee gave her. She finally pulled herself together when Rikka called her name.

The first thing that Cai thought when Rikka was describing her sword was that she wasn’t worthy of such a thing. Rikka always made sure that each person’s special abilities and talents were a factor in her creations. The sword was a masterpiece. It was light enough that she knew she wouldn’t have too much of an issue using it for long periods of time and it was perfectly balanced. Part of Cai wanted to ask Rikka how she knew to create such a piece but at the same time she knew it was for the best that she didn’t know. The blade itself was a gorgeous shade of gray. Just by looking at it she knew that it was sharp enough to cut through just about anything. She took a step back from the table to make sure that she didn’t hurt anyone as she tested the sword. The blade danced with her perfectly like the two of them were the same being. Once satisfied that she would be able to wield it with ease she pushed her energy up the hilt and to the blade itself. Sure enough it started to heat up as more energy was pushed into it. Soon the blade was molten rock. Cai did the same movements as before. It felt differently which made perfect sense but still moved with just as much ease. Satisfied for now Cai let the blade cool down completely before putting it back in its sheave.

“Yet another perfect work of art Rikka,” Cai reached over and pulled the grumpy water bender into a quick side hug before dashing out of her reach. “Now can we talk true strategy for this kidnapping?”
