────────────────────────────────────────────────────────___As the darkness of the night had set in, and the tired, sore bones of Avatar Hamko dragged themselevs into bed, he couldn't help but struggle to stay awake as he contemplated what had gone wrong. Mako trained for hours, his airbending was getting better, thanks to Jinpa anyway, and his firebending he was born with it seemed. What he lacked was control, the singed edges of his clothes had confirmed that much. Learning and strengthening his airbending had given his fire so much life... but no amount of bending practice could get him to bend a drop of water or inflence the smallest pebble.
Air goes in, inflates the lungs, raises the diaphram and fills the stomach... he thought as he staired at the textured ceiling, remembering to breathe in deeply the way he had in training.
Slowly, the air leaves the body and the muscles relax, his thoughts began to get quieter.
___Mako was never good at meditation, Jinpa was always encouraging him to try it before bed, and surprisingly it did help get rid of some of his struggles when it came to falling asleep but the dreams never stopped. Every night when his body would sleep, repairing itself from the day of training, or fighting the extremists, Mako's mind would usually drift off into the lucid realms of his dreams which just seemed like continuations of his day. More bending, more fighting, he was tired though, exhausted in fact, and as he lay in his dream, chest heaving, he pulled off his mask and watched as the face of the white wolf fell into the dirt beside him.
___Hey,___The voice sounded familiar, but still so different from the memory he once had. Mako looked up to a man wearing a black wolf mask, he was offering a hand up.
I don't recognize you, Mako thought, but he must have been one of the animal spirits... wasn't he? Mako reached up and grabbed the other wolf's hand, the ties of his mask barely in his other hand's grasp. In the moment Mako's hand touched the other animal spirit, he felt what seemed like a surge of electricity surge through his body. The surroundings began to disappear around them, the city street became a glassy surface, one that he could see his reflection. It happened again, his raven hair had gone white and his icy blue eyes had grown as red as the fire he could bend. It only happened when he went into the Avatar state... but the black wolf was still there, so how could he be in the spirit world?
___The Man with the black wolf mask reached up with his free hand to pull the mask down, and just before Mako could see the face behind it, he woke up from his dream with a sharp gasp. In a bit of a panic, he tossed and turned in his bed, he couldn't seem to get his barring, but he stopped as his feet moved off of the side of his bed and touched down on the cold wood floors when he realized the light coming through his windows.
"Damn it! I slept in!" Pushing himself up off of the edge of his bed, and staggering to his closet. His legs, arms, and back were still sore from the day before but he made himself ignore it as he grabbed a clean, slate blue shirt from his closet and replaced his singed black shirt with it.
___Hamako was supposed to meet up with Jinpa and Haruto fifteen minutes ago, as swift, as he possibly could, the young man left his room, his eyes catching a glimpse of his reflection. His hair hadn't been white... it usually was after a trip to the spirit world... Mako didn't put much thought into it as he turned the corner of the hall and began to stagger down the stairs, practically hopping into his athletic shoes with each step. Running down the sidewalk, he slowed his pace as he turned the corner into an eggshell white shop front.
___"Good morning, Hamako," the teashop owner greeted him with a dip of her head and a smile.
___"Good morning," he replied, a respectful nod in return.
"My order is a little different today, I need three teas, a muffin and drink carrier if you have it, please," he requested, digging what little money he still had in his pocket.
___"Put that away, you helped me catch the family cat yesterday when she got out, it's the least I can do," she rejected his payment. The older woman had been kind to Hamako since his first visit, at first he had thought it was just her job, as he had to live with tea makers the second half of his life and had known the business, but he eventually learned that Janet and her whole family had been some of the kindest people in Capitol City.
___"Thank you, Janet, that's very kind of you, and I just live around the corner if you change your mind, or need anything," he smiled, thanking her as he took the teas and muffin as she passed them over the counter.
___"You're a good boy, Hamako, stay out of trouble!" she called after him, leaning over the counter as he turned on heel and began to make his way down the street.
___Mako, of course, had forgotten his phone by his bedside, he wasn't used to carrying it around just yet as he had been the son of a tea owner directly after being a pretty much homeless orphan with his brother. Money was never something he had much experience having. Mako noticed the yellow and orange fabrics of Jinpa's clothing first, then Haruto's signature black jacket that didn't stand out too much. Mako would have waved but with his hand's full it made things a little difficult. Finally approaching the pair, he set down the drink holder next to them on the edge of a planter box before passing them out.
"This one is for Haruto, black tea for your dark soul. I was hoping it would lighten you up a bit," he teased, flashing a toothy grin.
"And green hibiscus for Jinpa," he added, figuring she wouldn't want anything caffeinated.
___Hamako unrolled the small paper bag his muffin was in, separating the top from the bottom half before plucking a piece from the top and plopping it in his mouth. He had been starving, and this would hardly cut it, but it was better than nothing. Mako cleared his throat as a bit of a concerned look came over his face.
"I had the weirdest dream last night..." he said aloud, not sure if the three had been really close enough to discuss such a thing. Shaking his head he sighd and changed the subject.
"How are you two this morning? Sorry I was late," ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
