xxxit wasn’t falling asleep that was rey’s problem, it was stay awake. she had vivid dreams that often developed into nightmares that she couldn’t control. she woke up at least four times that night and rolled over, catching to see if ben was asleep. he always was, passed out in the cot across the room from her. she had the urge to push their cots together, she would definitely feel safer that way. she didn’t though, she didn’t want to wake him up. she eventually feel asleep for quite a while. of course that wouldn’t last long. visions of palpatine, kylo ren, and herself as a sith plagued her sleep with nightmares. in one she was fighting herself, the other version of herself wielding a red double-bladed lightsaber. they were on a cliffs edge and below them was a void of nothingness. she fought for as long as she could but eventually the dark rey knocked her saber from her hand. she stumbled to grab the saber but the dark rey kicked her hard in the chest, sending her into the void. rey shot up out of her sleep, covered in sweat and clutching her covers.

Brown eyes flickered away from his lap when he felt something was off with Rey. He frowned and turned to face her bed in a cautious manner until she shot up. He blinked and frowned. She had a nightmare also? He turned in the bed and winced as he got to his feet and made his way carefully towards her. He knelt, being careful of his leg, near the side of her bed. He moved a hand to gently take hers. "It's okay.. I have them, too.. it's only a dream." He said softly, watching her face. He stayed there like that, watching the girl with a slight smile, attempting to comfort her.

xxxrey sat there for a few moments in the dark, holding onto her covers and terrified by the thought of the nightmare she had just had. she knew it was a dream but it just felt so real. she almost felt like cry, if she was being honest. she was unbelievably happy when ben came over to comfort and instead she held his hand for a few moments before leaned over the side of the bed and she wrapped her arms around neck and pulled him closer to her, resting her chin on his shoulder. she didn’t say anything yet, she just clung onto him. rey had always had nightmares but she had never had anyone to comfort her before so it was such a relief for ben be there for her. she hoped they one day the nightmares would stop but she was glad to have him here in the meantime.

‣ ʙᴇɴ ꜱᴏʟᴏ / ᴋʏʟᴏ ʀᴇɴ

Ben kept his gaze on her, giving her a slight smile when she noticed he was there. He glanced to their hands for a split moment and couldn't help the rather.. proud feeling he had to have her hold onto his hand for a moment. When the arms wrapped
around him, he blinked at the suddenness, but didn't jolt. His eyes flickered towards her and he smiled lightly. He carefully raised himself to sit on the edge of the bed, wrapping his arms around Rey, sitting there and keeping her close in a comforting manner. He rested his chin on her head gently and just waited, sitting there in silence, now and then rubbing her shoulder lightly with his thumb. His devotion to this girl was shocking to him, sometimes, but it was the only thing that kept him sane he found. As long as he had Rey, he hadn't need to worry about being lost as Kylo Ren again.

xxxrey hardly ever noticed when ben shifted himself onto the bed but she did feel his arms wrap around her as well. her head stayed rested on his shoulder as he comforted her. she started to get a little bit tired again as the adrenaline of being waken up so violently started to fade out of her system. "will you lay with me?" she asked him in a quiet voice, still laying against him. she knew the bed was small and that it would probably be uncomfortable but she just wanted to be able to get some sleep. she knew it wasn't morning or even close to time for the lights to come on because the lights would become progressively brighter for about an hour before official "lights on" time. everyone was expected to be up and ready to work by then. rey was not ready to be awake and she definitely wasn't ready to get any work done.

‣ ʙᴇɴ ꜱᴏʟᴏ / ᴋʏʟᴏ ʀᴇɴ

Ben stayed like that with Rey, resting his head lightly against hers. His gaze remained on her as he moved to his thoughts. Which were rather empty for once, he assumed it was the feeling of peace he felt when he was with the girl. His brown eyes blinked lightly when the girl spoke to him and he lifted his head off hers to look towards her face. He nodded gently with a light curve of his lips, "Yes." He whispered back gently. He then turned his attention to the small bed they sat on and gently pushed her away enough to adjust so he was ready to lay back in the bed. He looked back to her and wrapped his arms around the girl before laying back, gently leading her so she used his chest as a pillow, given there wasn't much of an option on this small bed. He felt his heart beating in his chest..as well as his ears. It was almost unbelievable to be like this with her. He glanced towards her and smiled lightly.

xxxrey moved back, her back touching the wall, to let ben adjust himself and get into the bed more comfortably. she didn't try to get under the covers, she was honestly to tired to try and do that. she just waited for ben to lay down and then she laid her head on his chest, letting him wrap his arms around her. she also had one of her arms draped around him. she could heart his heart beating in his chest as she drifted back to asleep. maybe she was too tired to dream, but she didn't have anymore nightmares as she slept this time. she had gotten at least a couple more hours of sleep before the lights in the rooms started to gradually get brighter. rey's eyes slowly opened. she had hardly remembered falling asleep on ben so she was a little surprised to find herself with him. she decided not to move until she knew ben was awake because she would feel horrible if she woke him up.

Ben's eyes remained on Rey for a while, watching as the girl drifted to sleep. At that, he found himself relaxing to the point of drifting to a light sleep. He kept his arms loosely wrapped around her as he breathed in and out slowly as he slept, but it was more so like a light nap and found himself awake once more about an hour before Rey had awoken. He lightly moved his hand to push hair away from her face as the girl slept. He blinked when he noticed that the jedi opened her eyes and let a slight smile go across his lips. "Good morning." He spoke softly, watching her.

xxxrey smiled up at ben after feeling him sweep the hair out of her eyes. "good morning," she said. she laid there for a few more moments before she sat up. "i guess we shouldn't just lay in bed all day, even though we did so much yesterday," she joked, stretching a bit. rey had always been a morning person, it started when she was living on jakku as a child. if you got up early enough, you were more likely to scavenge good items. she could never risk sleeping in late because she might not get food for the day if she found nothing. she slipped out of bed, going around bed and started to put her belt on and secure her lightsaber into it.

"If you ask me, we deserve to sleep for at least a good month." Ben mumbled in a joking manner, sitting up after she had. He turned in the bed so his feet rested on the floor before he stood and then took his own turn to stretch. He watched the girl for a moment before making his way to where he had abandoned his own belt, with lightsaber and blaster, at the other end of the room. He picked up the belt and attached it to his hip before stepping closer to Rey. He sort of watched her as he questioned himself how to word what he was going to say, "So... What exactly do you guys even do around here? Especially now that the war is over..."
