xxxof course, rey would miss the people who had become her family while she was a part of the resistance but their mission was over. now she had the feeling that the only thing she could do to find her new mission in life was to leave the place and the people where she was comfortable. she and ben were meant to be together and work together on whatever their new purpose was going to be. she smiled seeing ben do the same. he obviously like the idea of leaving. she understood why, no one here was open to accepting him. she shook her head. "im not really sure. i just feel like there has to be somewhere that needs our help. somewhere where they wouldn't know us but would let us help them," rey suggested. "i don't really know any planets that could really use our help, but im sure they have to be out there somewhere," she said.

Ben paused a bit as he listened to the woman's response, turning to her as carefully as he could with a casted ankle. He frowned a bit in thought of her words. He didn't really know of how much help he could be, seeing all he had done most of his adult life was bring destruction to the galaxy. He looked to Rey in thought and worried his lip between his teeth. He knew that most likely wherever they chose to go, he'd have to face something of Kylo Ren's doing. He took a deep breath through his nose, mentally agreeing that as long as he had Rey, everything will be alright. "I only know of where the First Order bases were." He mumbled softly. "I don't even know where to begin in helping people, if I'm honest."

xxxrey stepped forward a bit and took on of his calloused hands. "i think we should start where the old first order bases were. we could help the people that were hurt before by the first order," she suggested. it seemed like a good idea. if ben could help the people who he had hurt before, it would be obvious that he had changed and that he was no longer kylo ren. she shook her head. "you don't need to know how to help them. helping people isn't always planned. i think it might even be better if we don't have much of a plan," she told him. "and i'm sure that you'll pick up on it quickly. you're a good person, ben, and helping others comes easily to good people with practice," she encouraged him with a smile.

Ben slightly tensed as he glanced down to their hands as Rey took his. Glancing back up at her, his gaze held a hint of uncertainty as he listened to her idea. He clenched his jaw as he felt a his nerves stirring with the idea of returning to the various bases across the galaxy and helping those he had harmed before. Honestly, he was shocked with the fact that her resistance friends hadn't locked him up. The fact they let him go so easily after claiming he was a man whom was in the process of changing... it was unreal to him. It shouldn't have been that easy for him as he was a mass murderer and tyrant. His dark eyes met her hazel ones and a frown tugged at his lips as he listened to her latter words. A good person? Him? He let out a sigh as he looked back down at their hands, remaining silent as he thought over the proposal. If she thinks that this was good for him in stepping away from Kylo Ren, then he'll try. He'd do anything for her now. "Alright." He nodded slowly, looking back up at her freckled face. "I'll try."

xxxthere was clear tension in ben, rey could plainly read it off of his face. she knew that he wouldn't be totally fond of the idea. she understood why. it must be heard to go back and face the people that you had harmed for so long. it was risky too. what if one of the leaders in these planets decided that he should be locked up? if that did happen, they wouldn't really be able to do anything without hurting them and that would just make everyone even more scared of ben and uncertain of rey. she looked up at ben's pondering face and a bright smile appear upon her lips when he agreed to try. she nodded. "okay, great!" she exclaimed, pulling ben into a hug, probably a bit too excited. "well, we can leave tomorrow then," she said. she started to think about where they should go first. "perhaps we should go to cantonica first. finn went their once on a mission for the resistance and i know it's a place where a lot of wealthy leaders go. if we could win over the leaders there, maybe it would make it easier for us to travel to other planets because they will be able to assure their citizens that we're not going to harm them," rey offered.

‣ ʙᴇɴ ꜱᴏʟᴏ / ᴋʏʟᴏ ʀᴇɴ

Uncertainty still remained on the former supreme leader's face as he watched the girl's slight burst of excitement erupt from her lips. His brows furrowed at the mere fact she shouted when she was only about a foot or two away from him, though he couldn't get mad at her even if he tried. Especially when she was excited as she was━ Ben blinked down at the scavenger as her arms found their way around his waist and into a hug. Naturally he froze for a few beats before, flustered, he moved a hand to gently rest it against her back and gave the girl a gentle pat.

He still wasn't used to all this affectionate stuff. Before Rey, the last affection he received was the gentle touch to his cheek that moment he had stabbed and murdered his father... and before that was probably the time he last saw his mother before becoming Kylo Ren. So, needless to say, Ben couldn't help but be tense at first but that didn't mean he didn't like it. Like a touch-starved child, he craved it...

His lashes blinked over his chocolate eyes twice as he looked back down towards Rey, listening to her next words quietly as to respectfully wait until she finished speaking before allowing himself to do so. He tipped his head to the side some, pursing his lips together as he thought it over. "I suppose that's worth attempting..." He spoke softly, his hand stilling on her shoulder blade. "Though we may need to find nicer clothes... We don't want to stand out when meeting the various leaders." He mused, "Seeing as they all will definitely be best dressed."

xxxthere was a realization in rey that she probably should have thought more about how ben felt about the hug before she pulled him into it. she wondered when was the last time someone had been physical affection to him before her. had it been his mother before she sent him away to be trained? she couldn't imagine that master skywalker would have given ben any affection, nor could she see him letting anyone in the first order be that close to him. when rey felt ben tense up for a moment, she thought about pulling away, but she could sense that deep down, he needed this just like she dd. that was only emphasized when he moved his hand and gently held her as well. for the longest time, all of her years living on jakku, she had longed for someone to hold her or even just speak to her kindly. it was comfort that she had wanted really, someone to tell her that she was going to be okay and she felt that she might have finally found that in ben because finally, someone would understand what she had gone through.

xxxwhen ben spoke again, she lifted her chin and gently rest it on his chest, her eyes looking up at his. she nodded. "you're right, they'd probably laugh at me if i showed up like this," she said lightheartedly, but she was clearly a bit hurt by the idea of being devalued just because of her clothes. however, she knew that ben was right. what world leaders would want to speak with someone dressed like a scavenger? "i'm sure we should be able to find something in storage. hopefully, something that will fit us," she suggested, looking back towards the base. "we'll have to be careful though, if anyone sees us doing this they're going to be suspicious," she reminded him. rey honestly didn't feel like being questioned by anyone and her urge to simply get away from all of this was growing by the minute.

The man's expression did not change much, only the slightest of a ghost on his lips, as he looked down at the girl as she tipped her chin up and settled it on his chest as though she needed the support to look up at him. The action brought some heat to his cheeks, though he paid no mind to it... instead, he focused on her words as she responded to his comment. He blinked some and frowned as she stated the people would laugh at her clothes ─ more so at the change he felt of her emotions through the force.

"I don't think they would laugh..." He mumbled quietly, silencing as she continued on, listening to her and following her gaze back to the direction of the resistance base.

The man nodded and returned his attention to the scavenger, "Alright." He simply responded, lowering his hand from her back as to allow her to lead the way. While he didn't see why the other's thoughts on what they were doing mattered, he understood not wanting to be stopped and questioned. The base made him uneasy for other reasons, so the sooner they got off this wooded planet, the better. He waited for the moment that Rey would begin to walk off before falling in to walk alongside the young woman.

xxx"maybe not, if they knew who we are," rey agreed with him, grinning a bit. rey's arms dropped to her sides as they agreed to go back to the base to look for nicer clothing to wear. she took this as her cue to start leading them back to the base, which she did swiftly. she couldn't say she was excited to change into fancier clothing. all she had seen looked too flashy for her taste, not to mention how restrictive it would probably be. if she needed to defend herself, how would she fight in an outfit that she would probably barely be able to walk in? she guessed that the risk of not being able to defend herself was just a risk she would have to take to get herself off of this planet.

xxxas the base came into view, rey noticed that there seemed to be much less activity outside than when they left. she guessed that everyone was probably taking a break to eat. as they slipped inside the building, the halls seemed to be mostly abandoned as well. the one person she did see walked out of a storage room, leaving to door wide open as they quickly made their way off to the makeshift cafeteria in the center of the base. without a word, rey slipped into the room, pulling ben in behind her. she hoped they'd be lucky enough to find clothing in the first room that they checked.

A subtly peeved expression tugged across the man's brows as his lips remained in the straight line that naturally sat on his face at Rey's comment. Well, if they knew who they were, they would probably be much too shocked to laugh at them. Kylo Ren and the Resistance's Jedi, Rey, together in a club? People would no doubt gawk and stare at them.

He silently began to follow the young woman at the speed that his bandaged leg would allow him. This was definitely going to be a huge inconvenience for him until his leg healed. He hobbled along just behind her as they reached the base once again, his chocolate gaze flickering slightly this way and that as he was still quite weary of being there. He was relieved to find it was much emptier outside than usual.

Ben's remained quiet as he walked into the halls of the base alongside Rey. The man slowed some curiously as he watched a rebel leave a room and hurry off in an opposite direction from them, which was much to his relief.

"Hn!" A soft huff of an exclamation left Ben as the woman's hands suddenly grabbed and tugged him into the room that the other had just left, stumbling slightly over his own feet. Once he adjusted his footing to stand confidently upright, he looked to Rey and then to the room surrounding them. Ah. It was a storage room. Honestly, he would be shocked if they happened to find any fancier clothes here. He always thought the rebels wouldn't care for such worldly things. All the ones he has seen were wearing basically rags and Rey was no exception.

Without a word, Ben stepped towards the first container and pressed the control button on the side to watch the lid open and expose the supplies inside. Some bacta packs, some rations, normal bandages... Maybe some blankets, but definitely didn't contain fancy clothes.

i have a lot of free time with work cutting hours, so hopefully that will help me get back into the swing of things. ;w;
