"not too sound cocky or anything but i think so, too," he said with a slight grin. he unwrapped his arms from her when she pulled away to look at sam, his attention returning to the baby again. "yeah, it is," he agreed quietly. "he has a good temperament for a newborn." admittedly, romeo never thought he'd be a father at this age, several years ago having no interest in children or marriage. it was interesting to see how time changes. he stepped away from rosie to pick up a toy bear that had fallen onto the floor. it had been given to them at the baby shower, even though several weeks ago giorgia had stitched up the bear's arm when one of the dogs got into the nursery and ended up chewing its arm off. he was quiet as he squeezed the toy, as if he thought it was going to make a noise, all his thoughts circulating around both sam and what philip had told him earlier.

"He does, I hope he's always this well behaved," She said wistfully, watching Romeo as he walked away. "Well, I feel like I ought to ask, what did you find out from your friend?" She asked, still leaning against the crib, reaching a finger down into the crib, and quickly felt Sams tiny fingers all try to curl around one of hers.

indentit was endearing to watch the baby attempt to grasp one of rosie's fingers with his hands. in the hospital, romeo had amused himself by doing the same thing since it seemed that whenever the babe was awake and you offer him one of your fingers, he'll automatically grab it. his hands were so tiny compared to an adult's, too. he sat down in a recliner chair by the window, immediately leaning back in it as he kicked his legs up with a groan. he was still holding the toy bear, resting it against his chest. he didn't hesitate to make himself comfortable. at rosie's question, he blinked several times, having thought they decided to temporarily put it aside for now. he sighed as he rubbed one of his hands along his face. "philip was telling me that he might have found the guy who killed my uncle. it was so long ago, honestly; i haven't thought about him in such a long time. we never found out who did it during the time so it was always one of those unsolved cases, you know? anyway, the problem is that the guy is a made man and, listen to this, he's a part of richie's crew. so he's untouchable unless i go to richie himself and ask permission to make the guy fair game. every problem that comes up now seems to involve that troll, i swear to god. i just-i need to think of how to handle this and i'm nervous anthony is going to run down there with his hair on fire and do something he'll regret."

"Why don't you just hire someone to kill him for you?" Rosie asked, "send a goon, someone you can drop instantly to hire an assassin, get the guy killed, and walk away looking like you don't know a thing about it. Wouldn't hurt to knock off that friend of yours too, bury the lead." She shrugged, "or, I've got some old contacts I can dig up, I can send one of them after your guy, get the problem sorted, and it'll never come back to you."

indentromeo was quiet for a few moments as he pondered her words. "that could work," he mused, instantly jumping to the option that could solve his problem quickly. however, after a few more seconds, he frowned. "but then that would leave anthony. i know he wants to get this guy himself, a kind of eye for an eye situation. but then that means i'll have to grovel at richie's feet to give the green light and i know he'll refuse just to be petty. not that i even blame him, i'd do the same thing." if someone he hated came to him asking for permission to kill one of his made men, romeo would refuse just to be spiteful and torture them so him and richie were similar in more ways than one. hiring a goon to take out tommy gallo would solve this whole situation and give him a leverage over richie but, admittedly, it wouldn't give any of them the closure they needed, especially anthony. anthony would hate romeo for a long time if he went down that road, he was a very grudgeful person. "why can't there just be one week where i'm not put in situations like this?" he whimpered, finding himself becoming very tired of having to be the middle man with neither option leaving any parties satisfied. rosie's suggestion would solve this problem quickly and avenge his uncle's death but there would be no satisfaction with it, no type of closure to ask tommy gallo why he did what he did. he was torn about what to do and being don, he couldn't be torn because he was the one who had to make these decisions.

"You mob men make murder and work so complicated." Rosie sighed, "send Anthony then, if you do things correctly, no one will know who killed this man of yours. A few simple steps and it looks like a random hit, I'm sure this guy has plenty of enemies out for his head. If it wasn't for Sam I'd offer to go with Anthony, I'm sure I'm much better at cover ups than your lot." She grinned down at Sam in his crib, "and mommy can't bring you on a murder trip, can she? No she can't," she cooed, tickling the baby's belly, drawing a tiny giggle from the baby.

"but it is complicated. there's certain customs and traditions in the italian mob that you follow so there's not constant bloodshed and power struggles. if anyone could go around killing whoever without consequences, i'd probably already be dead and someone would have taken my place as don." he wasn't going to try and sugar-coat it. he sometimes forgot that rosie wasn't of italian heritage and didn't grow up in the same type of organized crime as he was. she was probably used to just whacking someone and that was that. but it was different in the mafia, where decades of customs and rules have to be followed. if they could just go around killing anyone, it'd be an endless bloodbath. he began to feel frustrated at the situation; there was no way in hell he'd allow anthony to kill tommy gallo without an approval from richie because he could already see the outcome of the situation. if such a situation occurred, he'd rather kill anthony himself than let richie get his hands on him because at-least romeo would make it quick and painless while richie would make him suffer. he watched as rosie tickled sam's stomach, causing the babe to show amusement. "i'll figure something out," he mumbled, getting up from the recliner and putting the toy back on the dresser. "i'm going to take a shower." he figured rosie would probably linger around sam for a while and he needed to just think by himself for a while, finding himself becoming irritated as was usual for him. "i'll be out in a few minutes." he made his way over to the sliding door that connected the nursery to romeo and rosie's bedroom, sliding it open so he could step inside.

Rosie watched as Romeo departed, looking down at Sam again, "what do you think, Sammy? Should mommy do something stupid and upset daddy?" She questioned calmly after Romeo shut the door behind him. Sam looked up at her, wide eyed and innocent, "okay, you're right. I couldn't leave him again, or leave you ever." Perhaps it was too soon for Rosie to talk to herself and pretend she was talking to the baby, but that's where she was at this point.

indentromeo found himself standing in front of the bathroom mirror, slowly beginning to unpeel the bandage on his lower torso. it was nearly seven in the morning, romeo having woke up earlier after finding it difficult to stay asleep without feelings of soreness beginning to bother him. he had checked sam in his crib before going into the bathroom, now beginning to scope out the nasty bruise that had formed on his lower torso. it's been several weeks since sam has come home, romeo having taken some time off to be with him and rosie. it's also been several weeks since he's received news from philip about tommy gallo. having decided to take matters into his own hands and listen to rosie's advice, romeo ended up hiring several italian hit-men from sicily. it was an old trick his father used to do, where he hired goons from italy to carry out a risky hit for him. italian goons are easier to hire because to them, taking someone out is a quick and simple process with no strings attached and the american money given to them for completing the job is worth more over in italy, doubling the profit they receive in the end. not to mention, when they hop on the next flight back home, there's no way the cops could even think that foreigners had something to do with it. romeo had sent the three hit-men to florida, where they ended up killing tommy gallo in broad daylight at the pool deck of a miami hotel by shooting him several times in the chest. while romeo and his family would never receive closure of why gallo killed his uncle and who could have possibly told him to do so, killing gallo guaranteed anthony's safety. not that anthony agreed with that at all.
indentit didn't take long for anthony to connect the dots that gallo's murder, which quickly made wildfire throughout the mob community, was romeo's fault. several days ago, when romeo's mother invited her sisters to come and meet the baby after several weeks of sam becoming comfortable in his new home, anthony ended up attacking romeo. giorgia and the women had been outside in the backyard when it happened, romeo having been in the kitchen and the only reason anthony managed to get in as many hits as he did was because romeo's soldiers had been outside. it was when stella opened up the sliding glass door to get a juice-box did the realization hit and the men managed to pull anthony off. anthony had been so angry, romeo now understood why some became scared of him when he got angry because anthony's rage had been like nothing romeo had ever seen from him before. he had been yelling curse words at him, some words things children should never have to hear, while also calling him a coward and saying that romeo's pride cost him the closure he could have received concerning his father's death. he didn't hurt romeo too bad but he got a few good hits in, having bruised his lip and also causing a gash on his cheek that needed stitches from where he punched him and his ring made perfect contact with romeo's skin. he had also stomped on romeo's stomach, which given how strange his ribs have been acting had knocked the air out of him and now caused the nasty bruise on his torso to form. lana had ended up dragging anthony out of the house and they've been gone for several days, presumably at a hotel to get anthony away from romeo. romeo took a deep breath as he looked at his reflection before he grabbed an ice pack from the counter, pressing it against the bruise. he winced as he accidentally licked his bottom lip, disturbing the bruise. "dammit, anthony," he sighed, breaking the silence of the bathroom. he turned on the faucet to create some noise and to also wash his face, careful not to disturb the gash.

Rosie stirred at the sound of the faucet, becoming more sensitive to sounds in her sleep to be able to hear if Sam needed anything. She turned to see the light on in the bathroom and frowned, climbing out of bed, the sheet pulled around her shoulders as she wondered over to lean against the doorframe of the bathroom, "a girls gonna start taking offence if you're always gone by morning," she joked sleepily. Despite his first few weeks of near silence, Sam seemed to finally come into his own as a whiny baby, which meant Rosie was getting about half as much sleep as she usually did. "Maybe you should go talk to him, with Lana in the room of course. So he doesn't kill you or anything."
