Karkat, having remembered the route home, followed it easily, keeping himself at a slow enough pace that he didn't leave Dave behind. He reached into his pocket to fiddle with the keys in his pocket, listening to the sound of them clinking together and feeling them scrape softly against his fingers. A few moments later, he stepped off of the busy road and onto smaller streets with much less people.

Dave couldn't help but be surprised that Karkat remembered the way home. He still looked around the streets to see if they were going the right way, though.

When they got to the house, Karkat unlocked the door, and wandered inside. He pulled his jacket off and threw it onto a hook on the wall nearby. It was getting late, and so he put the lights on to brighten the house up a bit.

Dave immediately walked in and flopped face first onto the sofa, without bothering to take off his jacket.

Karkat watched Dave in concern. Not wanting to bother him, he walked off to the kitchen and got himself a glass of water. As a last minute thought, he got another glass of water, and put it next to Dave in the living room quietly in case he needed it. Then he gently moved away to go off to his own room.

Dave forced his arm into the sofa the slightest bit so that he could see Karkat leaving. "Thanks," he called after him.

Karkat looked back over his shoulder, and smiled at Dave. Still smiling at himself, he turned and headed up the stairs. He curled up on his bed and hugged a pillow to his chest, blinking tiredly. Reaching around, he grabbed onto his headphones and put his music playlist on once again. There was a book by the side of his bed that Rose had recommended, and he started to flick slowly through it.

Dave sat up tiredly, and took large gulps from the glass of water. He then got his phone out to respond to unread messages.

Karkat squinted at the book for a while, stumbling over some of the words and wondering why Rose could never recommend him books that were easy to read. He was distracted by a call from Kanaya, and rolled over onto his back to answer it. He talked to her for a while, listening to her discuss wedding plans for a while, and then she left to go and talk to Rose. Karkat hung up and put his phone down, before rolling over and laying back against his pile of pillows.

Dave could hear Karkat moving around the house faintly. Finishing his water, he decided to call Rose for a bit.
