"Dave, I am already always stressed anyway," Karkat said with a small laugh to try and ease the tension, "Look. I always failed as a leader with my friends, but I always wanted the best for them. I feel like this my chance to do better. And I would do anything to keep you happy. So stop worrying so much about upsetting me. We're roommates now, so we've got to look out for each other."

Dave rested his forehead on the palm of his hand, his fingers running through his almost white hair.
"I'm just really terrified at the possibility of me making you unhappy," he sighed.

"I know it's scary," Karkat said quietly, "But you know me, I can't keep my mouth shut. I'll tell you if I'm mad or upset. Living with you makes me happy, and I don't think you could upset me right now."

Dave looked up at him and smiled slightly.
"Thanks, man," he sighed, obviously feeling a little bit more calm than before. "It really helps a lot."

"Let's order some food, yeah?" Karkat said, seeing a waiter walking towards them. He had absolutely no idea what most of the stuff on the menu was, but chose something he thought he'd like.

Dave sat up straight, letting out another sigh.
"Sounds good," he muttered, taking one last look at the menu.

With his food ordered, Karkat relaxed in his seat a little bit, and pulled out his phone to answer yet another message from Kanaya and another one from Terezi.

After the waiter left, Dave immediately got his phone out to respond to texts from Rose and John.

Karkat was surprised to find a message on his phone from Jade, and replied quickly before looking up at Dave. The lights of the restaurant were making Dave's pale hair look like it was almost glowing, and Karkat couldn't help staring for a second at how good it made him look. Suddenly realising what he was doing, he shook his head quickly and turned away.

"Hey, Rose's and Kanaya's wedding is soon, right?" Dave asked, stuffing his phone back into his pocket.
