Alex waited patiently, her senses still on high alert for even the smallest of steps or the shallowest of breaths.

[Boomer]

Alessa's gaze focused on the sunset. Soon the sun dipped below the trees and was gone. As night fell, Alessa found herself becoming tense. She lightly pulled at Scarlett's stringy fur.

Soon, Martha emerged with a platter decorated with three bowls of chili and a side of cornbread.
"Who's hungry?"

[Boomer]

Alessa placed Scarlett by her feet. "I am!" she announced. Alessa's tail began to wag as she saw the food in front of her. It smelled great and she couldn't wait to eat. She even forgot about it getting dark and Kit possibly showing up.

Martha passed the consumables out and sat by the two. She then dipped her cornbread in the chili. She bit down, a please expression washing over her face.
Alex sipped at the chili, glad to be eating.

[Boomer]

Alessa happily ate her chili and cornbread, although she didn't eat them at the same time. She only mixed foods on the second or third time eating them, as she wanted to make sure she liked the food on its own the first time. Alessa ate a bit quickly, but was careful to not have food spill out of her mouth or all over herself.

After the group finished up, Alex stretched her arms in a yawn. Martha chuckled.
"I better see if I can get those beds set up tonight."

[Boomer]

Alessa had finished eating first and took her dishes into the kitchen. She washed them and set them to dry, then returned to the dining room. "I can do the rest of the dishes." she offered.

Alex tense.
"I-I can help.." She began to rise from her chair.

Martha stepped outside to find a few other staff members.

[Boomer]

"No, I got it." insisted Alessa. She took the dishes and went back to the kitchen. She really did enjoy washing dishes. The pup scrubbed each dish and put them on the counter to dry. She smoothed down the fur on her paws to cover her burn scars.
