Outcast 1x1 with the_kiiwii

Penn awoke in the morning, a little bleary-eyed. He yawned and stretched alittle before curling back up in his blanket. He glanced sleepily at his clock. There was only a few minutes left before it was set to ring. Penn grumbled to himself, he really couldn't be assed to go to school, he just wanted to sleep in. He'd still go to school, just...later in the day. It wouldn't be the first time. Penn reached out and turned his alarm off, totally forgetting about Avalon and the fact he might want to get to school on time.

Penn smiled to himself and cuddled back into bed. He'd get up in like, another hour. Shower, eat then go to school. Him mum worked early so she was already out of the house hours ago and his brother that did live at home wouldn't care or tell on him, he had college stuff to worry about. Penn managed to lull himself back to sleep in a few minutes.

Avalon slept for a while. His alarm always woke him up because without it he could sleep till noon. He moved a few times just in order to change his sleeping position, but instantly fell back asleep each time. He was surprisingly comfortable curled up in the blanket that had the faint test hint of Penn's scent on it... Not that he noticed. Avalon was so tired he probably could have slept all day if it weren't for him waking up in the middle of a dream.

Avalon yawned and slowly sat up. It took him a moment to remember where he was, due to the strange surroundings. His face tinted pink as he recalled being in Penn's room. The harpy yawned and slowly stood up. He glanced at Penn's sleeping form then to the alarm clock. He expected it to be around 6 or 7 since his alarm hadn't gone off. But it was almost 10. Avalons eyes went wide as he shook Penn awake. Or at least attempted to.

"Penn! Penn wake up! We're late it's almost 3rd period!" he exclaimed in a panicked tone. Avalon was sure the school had already called his father, he was dead when he got home. His father would definitely kick him out for good, or at least until his mom got back... Which wasn't for another week. His heart rate was picking up and his mind was racing. He was dead. Avalon continued to shake Penn.

Penn woke up to Avalon shaking him. In his sleepy state, he thought it was for an emergency at first but when he realized he was talking about being late for school Penn relaxed. "Eh, I've been later." Penn yawned before sitting up in bed and stretching.

So much for waking up in an hour, Penn thought to himself, he found it funny. "I think I might just call it a day and stay home, relax, maybe shower if I can be bothered." Penn wasn't freaking out since instead of giving the school his mums number, he'd given his brothers, so he'd get the phone call and Penn could just write a note with some excuse.

He did feel bad about turning the alarm off for Avalons sake. It probably wouldn't look that great to no show on your second day of school. "You can stay here to if you want?" Penn felt it was right to offer, since it was his fault Avalon was late and he didn't want him to walk into class and have to explain himself. That would be embarrassing, something Avalon clearly couldn't handle.

Avalon had no idea how Penn could be so nonchalant about the situation. Avalon knew his dad would be so pissed. Avalon was having a freak out and it was obvious on his face. He had no idea what to do. If he showed up to school he would be embarrassed but at least he wouldn't have skipped all day. Maybe he could just avoid home? But he also couldn't make Penn let him stay longer. He wouldn't have anywhere to go. Avalon and no idea what to do and all of the doubt was making his eyes water.

Avalon looked at Penn, he desperately tried to wipe his eyes so that Penn couldn't see the tears. He didn't want to seem so weak in front of him but there was no hiding it. "I don't know... I cant... My dad.. he'll freak out. I'm sure he has already tried calling me, but I'm going is dead. There is no way I... he'll freak out. The school has his number because my mom is always out of town. He... He's gonna kick me out till my mom gets back!" Avalon said. His nervousness was evident in his worried tone. Avalon had no idea what to do.

He plopped back down on one of the cushions. He burried his face in his hands. He sniffled. The harpy boy want crying but he wanted to. Not only was his father already pissed but now he would be ready to actually strangle Avalon.

At first Penn thought Avalon was just being dramatic but when he started to tear up Penn felt like a massive ass. He honestly didn't think about if Avalon would get in trouble from being late. He should have, Avalons dad kicked him out over an argument, no surprise he'd freak over missing a day.

Penn got out of bed and sat down next to Avalon, gently putting a wing around him. "Sorry Av. I should have woken you up earlier." Penn didn't entirely blame himself, if Avalons dad wasn't such a jerk and threw Avalon out, he would of woken up on time at his home.

"Um..if you want, I can ask my mum if you can stay longer? I mean, if your dad does kick you out. We have my brothers old room you could use or you can stay sleeping on my floor " Penn smiled a little. It sucked to see Avalon worried about this. It should be his dad that should be worried. He kicked Avalon out at night and then he doesn't show up to school? Anything could have happened to him! Penn doubted that Avalons dad cared at all.

Avalon instinctively leaned into Penn as the other boy wrapped his wing around him. He took a deep, shaky breath. n-no it's not your fault. I don't want to be your problem also. I don't want you to get tired of me so soon...I said I would be out of your hair today, and I'm going to keep my word, don't worry about it." he said, trying to make his self sound like he could deal with what was about to happen. Avalon lifted his head to look at Penn.

"I should go home... I should at least try and explain things... It won't change much but I should at least try." Avalon sighed. He pushed away from Penn and stood up. "um thank you. Thank you so much for letting me stay." he said with a sad tone.

As much as he didn't want to say any of that it would best. As much as he wanted to shout thank you so much for letting me stay! And agreeing, he could drag Penn into his own issues and make another person he cared for hate him. He didn't want to get a nice person stuck in the mess he called his life.

"And I uh hope you enjoy your day off... I'll see you at school tomorrow..." he said faking a smile. Then Avalon realized that he was in Penn's room, and wasnt sure where to exit. "Um, can I leave through you're front door? Or window?" he asked, highly embarrassed that he had forgotten that well he didn't really know where he was.

Penn looked sadly at Avalon as he got up to leave. Penn honestly didn't mind if Avalon stayed, he wasn't a problem at all and his mum wouldn't mind. Avalon seemed crazy polite, his mum would love to meet him. She'd say he was a good influence on Penn, something Penn couldn't argue with.

"Are you sure you'll be fine Av? The way you're speaking about it.." Penn didn't like how Avalon sounded. It was a little worrying.

Penn sighed. He couldn't force Avalon to stay, well, he probably actually could but that would be wrong. "You can go out through the window, it's quicker. Don't..don't be afraid to come back if you need to. "

Avalon gave Penn a strained smile. "Yeah you're right. I guess I can't assure you that I'll be fine but I can at least fake it for now." he stated simply. Not even going to pretend that he never his his true emotions. It was a normal thing for him. His father had always taught him to lie, and Avalon was sure it was for moments like this. When someone questioned if something was wring. But he couldn't lie to Penn about this. Penn's aw through it, he wouldnt be okay but he could at least tell people he was.

Avalon opened your Penn's window and stepped into the door frame. "thanks again. I'll see you... Hopefully tomorrow." he said with a nod. Avalon didn't want to come to Penn when it went as horrible as he expected. Scratch that, he knew for a fact the one person he would want to see was Penn, but he didn't want to force him to accept Avalon. He didn't want to make Penn help him.

With that Avalon's smile disappeared, into an obvious look of fear and then he jumped from he window. Spreading his wings he glided up and away from Penn's cozy home. Avalon knew he was going to regret saying no to the angels offer to let him stay another night.

Avalon took as long as he could to arrive at home. But when he did the boy tucked in his wings and landed gingerly on the front porch. He crossed his arms, and took a moment to compose himself and tried to think about how to explain to his father what happened. Then he noticed hi father's black car in the long driveway. That made things even worse. that meant he stayed home from work, so he was that pissed already... Avalon gulped and grabbed the door handle. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before pushing the door open.

Penn felt horrible as Avalon left. He wished Avalon had stayed, for his own sake and to make Penn feel less guilty. This all could have been avoided if he wasn't a lazy ass and turned the alarm off. He was so used to his friends crashing and sleeping in, he never thought it would be a problem.

Penn sat for awhile, considering following Avalon but he had no idea where he lived. Maybe near the park? It was worth a shot but did Avalon even want Penn there? He had offered him a place to stay but he declined. Penn sighed and climbed back on his bed. He hoped if things did go bad, that Avalon would be okay and accept his offer to stay here.

He was pretty bummed out, after a while he decided he should shower and then eat something. He grabbed the cushions and took them down stairs and placed them back on the couch before showering.

Amerecia immediately rushed towards the door. Her face was full of worry as she tried to convince him to turn around and leave, so that his father could calm down first. Avalon simply shook his head and gently pushed her to the side. Things would only get worse if he avoided the issue. Event though he was scared... No, that was an understatement. He was terrified of what would happen next. But his fear was justified. He and seemed how angry his father got over small problems and he could only imagine what would happen after he messed up something big.

As soon as the door shut he heard the familiar sound of pounding claws scratching the floor as they grew louder and closer. Soon the angered harpy man stomped up to his son. The distaste on his face was overwhelming. Avalon gulped as he got closer. Avalon could see his fathers clenched fists, his hands were shaking. Avalon the realized how much restraint the man was showing in order not to punch his son into yesterday. "WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN!? First you dare not to do the one simple thing I ask of you then you skip school the next day!" He shouted. Spit hit Avalon in the face. "I-i didn't mean to, last night after you ki-" his explanation was interrupted. "I don't care if it was an accident! HOW DARE YOU not go! You are useless! Good for nothing. A disobedient spoiled brat! I do so many things for you each day and you dare to skip school!" His voice was rising.

"Father..." "Don't you dare call me that!" His father shouted back. "Yest...yesterday I stayed the night at a friend from schools house. He willing let me stay, and I forgot to set my alarm for school. Please, I beg you, this wasnt on purpose, please understand!" Avalon tried pleading. However his words seemed to do nothing but anger his father even more. "To hell with you!" His father muttered, along with any and every swear he could think of. "What did I ever do to deserve a horrible son like you!? First you force other boys to be with you. I bet you got on your knees and agreed to do anything for so he would let you stay. No one in their right mind would ever take you in you little wh***!" Avalon chose to block out the last profain name he was called by his father. "Then you can't do the simplest thing I ask you to do! I work my butt off every single day to pay for you ungrateful child and this is what i get!? You have anything any kid could ever want but you can't even appreciate that! Then you skip school and dare to come back and try and make an excuse for yourself!" Avalon's father screamed.

Every word his father said was like a dagger to the heart. It was tearing him apart. None of it was true... "N-no you have it wrong! He offered to let me stay... Nothing happened! He isn't like me!" Avalon tried to explain but has father just seemed angrier and bsfore he could speak Avalon shouted. "Whatever! I'm done with this. Just get it over with! Slap me, hit me, beat me, kick me out! Whatever it is just get it over with. I can't... I just can't stand this anymore!" Avalon finally broke down. Tears swelling in his eyes. He had finally stood up to his dad. Just once... And it led to this. "If thats what you want!" His father shouted, his hand swing forward and hit Avalons cheek. The red haired boy stumbled back, and gulped. His breathe strained and staggered. His father's claws dug Into his arm, his claws cutting a few feathers and he shoved his son outside onto the porch. "I dont ever want to see you again!"

And that was it. Avalon heard the lock click along with more shouting he assumed was aimed at Amerecia. Avalon gulped, he wiped the tear from his eyes. He didn't know what to do. He didn't have anywhere to go and he didn't want Penn to see him like this even though he desperately wanted to see the angel. Avalon knew he would end up next to Penn's house, staring into his window contemplating wether or not to knock on it; and Avalon ended up doing exactly that.
