our makeup artist's case) and they feel the sparks every time they

Originally born in Nebraska. He now resides in Las Vegas as a world renown make-up artist.

Julian adores dogs but his apartment complex does not allow them. He has a fat cat named Tom however and he loves him to bits.

Julian has a tendency not to speak unless spoken to. He is not being rude, he just is daydreaming or caught in his thoughts. He is always willing to strike up a conversation if someone chooses to do so. He likes to talk and tell stories to his clients as he does their make-up to keep them entertained. He takes his craft seriously and will fight anyone who doesn't say it's a real job. He is proud of every look he creates and each one is crafted to perfection. However, he is not good under pressure and will crumple easily. He tends to run from confrontation.

He is looking for a new client to work for as his old client was not treating him correctly nor paying the right amount.

charlie sighed, a soft sound that barely made an impact to the serene environment of the bookstore he had managed to find. his manager had chased him off when he had tried to help with the makeup, something he was quite terrible at despite the fact he had it done almost everyday. their last makeup artist had quit, but not for any terrible reasons. they had quite the bond - a brother/sister one. she had left because her fiance was moving to the other side of the country, basically. they planned on settling in, then a few months later there would be a wedding. a perfect soulmate match, one that wouldn't be mulled on by society...

his fingers skimmed the pages of his book until he found his page, head tipping to the side in interest. the cashier at the front of the bookstore was asleep when charlie had entered, and when he leaned past the shelves to check again, she still was. he sighed, mentally marking his page and standing up to stretch. it was.. nice outside, the weather wasn't the worse although that seemed to attract more people out from under their rocks. he spotted a child with his mother and smiled, wondering if his soulmate would ever want kids. charlie was good with them and had thought about adopting a slightly older one because he wasn't sure he could take care of a baby.

charlie shook his head, slipping out his phone. he wanted to help his manager, but he didn't really know where to start.. had they posted how they were looking for a makeup artist online? he was only curious. the bell over the door jingled softly, and the cashier mumbled out something about having a good day as charlie left. he stepped out of the way of a young couple before beginning to weave through the crowd. he was practically jogging as he made his way back to the set were his manager had been frantically working with the producer and other staff members for at least two days. geez.. were good makeup artists really so hard to come across?

Julian had been watching television a couple of months ago when he first saw Charlie upon the screen. He had been guest starring upon an episode of one of his favorite dramas. He had loved his acting skills so he had researched into his different roles on different sit-coms, movies, etc. He realized that he was actually quite a large star. That was how he had found out that Charlie's agency had lost their last make-up artist and were currently looking for a make-up artist to fill the role. He hummed as he read through the requirements, knowing full well he fit all of them as he was one of the most well known makeup artists in Las Vegas. His name was on make-up brushes, pallets, and other products. He was a household name in the industry and was known on most sets. He also had his own YouTube channel and Instagram and was quite popular. He was offered job after job and took quite a bit of them but had to reject a lot of them. However, this job called to him so he packed up his supplies and headed down to the station.

The set was quite busy and a buzz when rumours of him coming down were heard. He met with the producer, Charlie's manager, the set designers, etc as they wanted him to get adjusted as soon as possible. They discussed pay and his role and duties. He was used to it all. He haggled with them until he got a good price for his services and soon he signed a contract. He had been sitting down with Charlie's manager when Charlie arrived upon the set. He stood up as Charlie arrived. "Hello, Charlie. I'm Julian Mateo, your new make-up artist..." He introduced, offering his hand for a shake with a smile. As they shook hands, he felt a little shock as his tattoo stung on his ankle. He ignored it and smiled at him as they shook hands.

charlie paused when he saw the small groups of people (fans maybe?? for who??) scattered across the front lawn of the building charlie was currently working in for his next movie. or show. honestly, they never told him anything! it was unfair. why did he have to be kept in the dark? just because he had played one prank! he pouted as he slipped around back, pulling open the access door with just a tad more force than necessary. it banged quite loudly behind him. oops.

the staff were still buzzing around like worried honeybees. nothing had changed, really. what had charlie expected, a movie star? with all those fans out there... yes. he sighed, running a hand through his curled mess of hair as he stepped through the dim, narrow hallway and shot apologies to the busy bees he knocked into. actually, it seemed everyone was more into something now.. charlie ducked under the doorway and passed a trio of gossiping girls. he glanced over their shoulders and saw one was holding a blurry photo of a man's back. his shoulder tingled a bit and he unconsciously rubbed it.

charlie managed to turn his gaze away and keep walking. he turned the corner and lo and behold, a new man was standing right there. why did he look so.. familiar? charlie shot a look of utter betrayal to his manager when his new makeup artist introduced himself. had his manager just.. let him do all that to his face?? was this a game to her?? charlie scowled darkly, a new idea blooming in his mind. for now, he just turned to the pretty makeup artist and let his scowl do a one-eighty into a smile.

something harsher than an tinge, more like a shock, assaulted his shoulder for the split second they shook hands. he rubbed his shoulder again when they parted, trying to look more nervous than anything else. c'mon, he was an actor for pete's sake! he could look nervous.. besides, it was probably just a.. bug, or something. no need to worry anyone. "hello, julian," charlie murmured, a soft smile on his face. julian... what a pretty name. "i hope we work well together."

Julian looked over at Charlie as he approached him. He could see the look of shock and betrayal upon the man's face as he approached where he and his manager were standing. He was guessing that Charlie was not informed of him coming to join the staff at the station. He flashed Charlie a pretty smile as he looked at him. He could see Charlie's scowl change into a smile. He noticed him begin to look nervous and he giggled, placing a hand over his mouth with a smile. "I do hope we work well together as well, Charlie." His name rolled off his tongue like sweet honey. He liked it. "I am guessing that your lovely manager did not tell you I was coming to join the staff?" He asked, flashing his manager a charming smile which caused her to giggle. He looked back at Charlie. "I've heard much about you from your manager and I've seen quite a lot of your stuff..." He smiled as he looked at him. He could see various members of Charlie's staff, mainly women but some me, watching them interact and typing furiously at their phones. They all wanted to be the first one to type that they had met THE Julian Mateo. He chuckled. How sweet.

charlie willed his heart to slow down as he listened to julian's voice, they way he said charlie's name.. ah, geez. he ran a hand through his curly hair and blinked hard, letting himself relax. he untensed his shoulders and nodded, lips morphing into a pout when he glanced up at his manager for a spit moment. "she let me put stuff all over my face then kicked me out.. i had to wipe it off on the way to find someplace to hide out. it was embarrassing!" he whined. ugh, imagine if someone had seen and taken a picture.. he could get laughed at or worse, someone would make him into a meme or something again. yes, again.

charlie allowed himself to look around, curious to how things were settling. like the trio from before, many were whispering to each other and tapping on their phones. he glanced up at his manager, but she was just smiling with her eyes in crescents and a pleasant smile on her face. he shivered thinking of what the staff would be put through when julian and charlie weren't around.. or maybe just julian. charlie had seen the horrors of his manager's anger before and, well, he hadn't been scared off yet.

"but.. um, i hope you don't mind if i ask.. why did you come to work here?" and maybe there was an underlying hopefulness in the words, but charlie just didn't know why. he was nervous and anxious and ugh, he was acting like a wallflower that had just managed the courage to find punch at a high school party. he had plenty experience with all kinds of people, so why was he so uncertain of the way he was speaking? what if he offended him? this man literally had the power to make or break him right now.

Julian chuckled as he looked over at Charlie. he had to admit that the man looked quite cute when he pouted. He nodded as he explain the situation and he smiled. "Definitely a fashion faux pas." He commented. "Your manager showed me photos of what you had done to yourself..." He chuckled and reached forward, wiping a bit from the corner of his eye. "Some still lingered." He spoke as he stepped back. "You are lucky that nobody else got photos besides your staff. " He commented as he looked at him. When he was asked why he came to work with the company he chuckled. "I had heard that your last make-up artist had quit." He spoke. "I was scrolling through comments on my social medias when some of my fans encouraged me to check out your company. They said that you all needed a professional and since I am the best in the business here in Las Vegas I decided to come on down. Your manager seemed very nice and so are your staff..." He continued. "She named the right price and allowed me to write my own schedule and contract so I agreed. So here I am." He grinned.

charlie made a sound of angry indignation, glancing up at his manager. "you double-crossing scoundrel," he mouthed, watch as her mouth upped into a closed lip smile. she waved a hand and was soon stalking over to some staff members, so charlie turned back to julian with the best puppy eyes he could manage. they practically screamed "pity me". he jumped when the finger rubbed the extra makeup of his eyes. "didn't have a mirror," he murmured in defense, perhaps a moment too late.

julian's phone vibrated in his back pocket, reminding him he owned one. he should follow julian at some point. would doing it now seem weird? no, he would do it tonight and just say something about needing to stay in touch. yeah. "ah, so your fans convinced you? i'm glad." he smiled, lips curling to reveal dimples. "i will remember to thank them for bringing me such a worthy makeup artist." his legs were beginning to get tired, so he motioned to a clutter of chairs against one of the farther walls. "ah, sorry. how about we sit and get to know each other more?"
