lightningpaw listened intently to fawnpaw and was genuinely surprised when she remarked on the storm. with a sly smile, he pushed the odds. "bet you can't last ten minutes."

the molly rolled her eyes. "oh, don't get ahead of yourself. the fate ocean would always flood our camp before you were born, you see. she tried bringing them with her but kept dropping them. and, a mother wouldn't kill her daughter's kits."

"betcha i can," fawnpaw said dangerously low, but in a playful matter. she pressed against his side, becoming stuck up. "just you watch."

"stop with this water reference!" the apprentice hissed, anger rising. "spiritkit just died and you knew what venombite was capable of. you have blood on your paws. denying your involvement with jaykit's brothers death - that's foul. you're no better than a rogue."

"exactly," loudbreeze gave a warm purr. "i'm going myself to see my kits, and i won't turn and head back." getting to her paws, she patted leopardpaw's back with her tail, silver fur rustling as she followed the direction of the patrol.

she gave a low purr, trying not to make herself obvious as she touched her nose to his cheek. she turned away, tail flicking. "what's redpaw doing these days as skybird's apprentice?"

the tom smirked at her affection. without reciprocating it, he shrugged. "probably plotting something nasty." he replied, tail laying across her flank.

the molly halted, turning her head. "yes, but you staying there touching the water too long will grant your live to starclan, and no cat will ever see you again. you take away your nose, you will be hurt, but not for long. it depends on how long you're there, but you'll know how much time you have left. come with me if you'd like."

"like what? killing floatstar again? no offense to your brother but i'd like to see him try," fawnpaw meowed in response.

leopardpaw considered the options. she wanted to see spiritkit again. she expected the kit would have something to say. "i want to see him." she said finally, joining loudbreeze.

while lightningpaw exhibited similar behavior patterns to his more cinical brother redpaw, he wouldn't put it past the crimson apprentice to go ahead and attack their leader again. "you know he already took one of floatstar's lives and he kept trying every moon after that." his voice sounded only mildly bothered.

"oh yes, rosepaw goes on and on, it's actually quite annoying. he has five lives left he's not dying anytime soon," the molly poked out her tongue and sighed, rolling her eyes.

"when you wake up, i won't be there," she meowed quietly, curling her tail around the apprentice before letting go and moving out of camp, following the scent of the patrol and the two passed cats.

leopardpaw eventually reached the area where she would meet spiritkit. pressing her nose to the water, she waited, darkness enveloping her.

"yea, but how many times until redpaw finally stops?" he asked, toying with the possibilities. "at this point, i'm sure he's ready to drown the old tom."

with most of the clan having been absent in the clan site, the tom slithered back from the darkness, his body littered with new bloody scratches. a deep gash on his shoulder was open. he fought the temptation to wince. slipping into the medicine den, the crimson apprentice attempted to prepare his own herbs, not certain which were which. he hissed loudly, tail lashing.

spiritkit saw leopardpaw and squealed, running towards her and away from the cat he sat with. he pressed against her, then frowned. "where's jaykit and ma?"

the brown cat didnt reply, white face showing a frown as the patrol stopped. "that's.. true. and after skybird left for ten moons? i don't trust myself."

the molly came in, seeing redpaw hiss in frustration. she dropped her new herbs and padded over to him, dragging her tail across his flank, blinking quietly as she sighed to the apprentice. "go take a seat."
