creekwhistle meowed a thank you to the two, before turning to thunderstrike as floatstar padded away. "isn't this exciting? you could change the clan, and protect my kits in the process!" as the only queen, she did have to admit she felt terrified for not her, but her sons.

she scooped the leaves into her mouth, keeping the gaze with him before turning around and spat them out near the entrance before padding back, and searching for some dock leaves for the red tom's scratches. she padded back, chewing them into a pulp and removing the cobwebs as she rubbed it onto his wounds. "sorry if it stings," she whispered, looking back up into redpaw's eyes. "for me," she began a new statement, voice soft again, "give up. he will die when starclan wants him to die, and not the other way round."

the two toms stared at the mighty apprentice, mouths gaped. "do you think we'll have to leave?" spiritkit asked, placing his pure white paw onto leopardpaw's, eyes shining with small hope that they won't have to.

redpaw's emerald gaze followed rosepaw as she moved around the den, attending to her responsibilties as a medicine cat apprentice. while he was stuck up and arrogant, a flicker of admiration flashed across his eyes. "we'll see," he said, leaving the future ambiguous.
he clenched his teeth together as the scratches stung.

𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐊𝐄 : floatstar + creekwhistle
the sunset orange molly trembled softly. she was now deputy. the rank swirled in her brain and she attempted to capture it. turning back to creekwhistle, she exhaled, "wow." she watched floatstar depart and left him alone. he certainly needed the space on his own. "yes, i do. this feels very...life changing. i will protect your kits creekwhistle." she declared, laying her tail on her the blue-grey feline's shoulder.

𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐊 : rosepaw + redpaw
the tom continued taking inventory of the supplies. at the rate to which redpaw was injuring the clan, their cobwebs would be under threat.

"no, no, of course not." leopardpaw assured the kittens. "violence doesn't last long." she said, pressing her nose into their foreheads. one thing leopard was thankful for was that the kits hadn't developed an opinion towards the ugly scars riddled across half of her face.

she sniffed his wounds as she pushed away the remaining leaves with her hind paw, looking deep into redpaw's eyes. she sighed, flicking her ears as her fluffy body pressed against his for a split moment. "you're done," she looked over at whitedusk, flicking her ginger tail. "can you come check if i did this right?"

creekwhistle stayed quiet as she felt the molly's tail touch her shoulder. she looked over at thunderstrike, dipping her head as she moved closer to her. "wow, thank you, thunderstrike," she whispered wholeheartedly, looked into her eyes.

"of course she will," jaykit hissed, moving his tiny body to sit at leopardpaw's paws. "she's too nice and pretty to not protect us, you can tell she's loyal! look at that..." the tom trailed off, staring at her face in admiration, "look at that... er... scar?" he looked questionably at leopardpaw. "is it a scar? ma has those, but on her legs."

redpaw was more than happy to be cleared for departure. the den smelled of odd herbs and the way rosepaw demanded better of him made his fur bristle righteously. slipping away into the cover of night, the red tom slunk beyond the border, searching for a suitable meal.

𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐊𝐄 : floatstar + creekwhistle
thunderstrike nodded to creekwhistle. "you have my word." the breeze tugged against thunderstrike's rich coat and she glanced around, her turquoise gaze landing on the mysterious tom. "FLOATSTAR!" she yowled, springing to her paws, "FLOATSTAR!!"

𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐊 : rosepaw + redpaw + skybird
whitedusk stopped within the midst of placing marigold in it's designated corner for a strong unnatural breeze barrelled through the camp, assaulting the medicine den with a furious gust of wind which knocked several herbs onto the ground. "s-starclan?" the loyal medicine cat asked aloud, approaching the mouth of the den, his gaze falling upon the mysterious cat at the clan entrance. he recognized the golden eyes. "skybird!" he gasped, his gaze shooting up to the nightsky, searching for a sign from starclan that the long lost warriors return was their doing.

leopardpaw was grooming both kittens when the howling wind demanded her attention. "y-yes, they are scars. of course i would protect you." she told spiritkit, nuzzling into his tiny body, purring against the kitten's warmth. "look jaykit and spiritkit, there's someone here!"

from the falling day to the arrival of night, a warrior rose from the ashes of buried memories. he now stood, a mystery shrouded in a large shadow casted by a large redwood from above. the moon, hoisted high into the dark night sky greeted the warriors return with a pale shiny ray of light which sliced across his face, framing his deep set golden eyes which peered out at the clan.

the blue molly looked wildly at thunderstrike as she saw skybird approach. she instantly sprinted back to leopardpaw and curled around her kits, looking up at the apprentice. "t-thank you for taking care of them, y-you're welcome to stay..." she said nervously, ears pricked up as she heard the commotion begin outside.

the tom instantly came rushing forward, ignoring his sore chest as his big paws landed heavily beside thunderstrike. then he froze, tail flicking as the moon landed on a tom in front of him. he purred heavily. "oh starclan, you have yet to fail me," he began to laugh, padding towards skybird. "oh, skybird, welcome back, my faithful deputy." instantly he turned to whitedusk, watching as rosepaw padded beside her. "come see if he's hurt. he's been gone for ten moons."

thundestrike observed the two toms reunite. she sighed, feeling the weight of a new rank lifted from her shoulders. the deputy was home. padding to floatstar, thunderstrike spoke carefully. "everything shall fall into place. you can sleep well now."

leopardpaw considered approaching the stranger but judging on creekwhistle's reaction, she prefered to stay by a queen. there was an established trusth that the apprentice forged with the mother, and she was already taking a liking to the kits. "i-i'll stay here with you guys." she said, curling up beside the grey molly.

skybird embraced his leader with a loud purr as he raked his nose against his shoulder. skybird was larger in size and looked more worn from his time out in the wild. "it's great to be home floatstar." he said, deeply touched by the reunion. "i've taken after myself but you're welcome to anyways." he told rosepaw.

creekwhistle purred as spiritkit curled up into leopardpaw's paws. she looked deep into leopardpaw's eyes, grinning softly. "thank you for taking great care of them. you'd be a great mother, someday," she whispered as she rested her head on her paws. "spiritkit and jaykit obviously love you," she looked at one of the sleeping toms.

the tom's enthusiasm and excitement decreased as he looked at the orange molly. "oh... thunderstrike i'm so sorry," the older tom meowed quietly, looking into her eyes as his tail flicked across her pelt. "i didn't know this was to happen."

"no, it's ok floatstar. i'm happy!" she said, reassuring the tom by pressing against his pelt, desiring to be close to him. "i wouldn't have made as good a deputy anyways." she joked casually.

leopardpaw blushed softly at the kind comment. "oh," she said, now peering down at the kit curled between her paws, "they're gonna be great warriors...you're a good mother, defending your kits and demanding the violence to stop. i hope harm never befalls them...which is why with starclan's presence here tonight, i swear on my life i will protect jaykit and spiritkit on their journey to becoming a warrior and beyond!"

skybird blushed softly at the attention. "i'm ok," he tried to convince the new medicine cat apprentice, "what's your name little one?"

floatstar wrapped his tail around her waste, tugging at her gently. "do not joke negatively, thunderstrike," he grumbled, ears twitching. "there's always room for a great deputy, it'll be your time sooner or later, or in another life."

the blue cat opened up one eye, resting it on leopardpaw as her tail curled around the smaller cat. "thank you," she meowed peacefully, flanks heaving up and down as spiritkit fell asleep. "and thank you, for promising to protect them." her tail flicked around jaykit, who mewled in sleep, complaining it was cold. she blinked her gaze away, staring at jaykit. "i hope you get to mentor one of them."

she stopped sniffing, looking up at skybird. "my name is rosepaw, and you're skybird, floatstar won't shut up about your absence. i remember seeing you maybe once as a kit, but never more."

thunderstrike shivered against her leader, eventually finding warmth in his embrace. "you're right." she said, finding herself pressing against his body, tail curling around his. "you should rest floatstar," she noted, yawning herself.

at the mention of mentoring, leopardpaw nearly leaped to her paws. she was too deeply focused on the slumber of the kittens that she scarcely remembered that she herself, would in due time and with the reminder of a full moon above the clan, that she would soon become a warrior. under venombite's mentorship, leopardpaw would be fostered as a full clan warrior. "yes, i would love to mentor either of them." she said, closing her eyes, her head resting on her paws.

"starclan brought me home. a starry figure guided me when i was lost." he revealed, his gaze imploring upon the young cat. "you are serving my clan well?" he asked, jokingly, hoping that she didn't consider him already an unfit deputy. "serving them more than i have, i reckon."
