WERE NOT BORN WITH IT
deep in the heart of a dragon poacher's camp, candence was born with great
expectations to become just like her father and slay dragons. she was raised
to be a killer; she can fight with nearly every weapon and do it efficiently.
she's studied dragons for as long as she can remember and knows nearly eve
ry breeds weaknesses and strengths. but when candence was 20 years old,
dragon riders moved through her village and slaughtered any that tried to s
top them from freeing dragons. she watched as her father, the great dragon
slayer, was cornered by a beast he put in a cage. the creature simply sniffed
at her before taking flight and leaving her father be. but her father was lege
nd: the riders knew who he was. they cut off his head as she watched, and
she was next; they had learned of his protege and only surviving child. but a
dragon, hardly the size of a bobcat and barely grown, protected her by chas
ing off the riders. the hatchling stayed with her as she mourned the death of
her village. for 3 years they stayed together, surrounded by the death. until
eventually, she began to ride him and track down the riders that slaughtered
her family. despite being dragon riders and liberators, their path of violence
and cruelty wasn't the way it was meant to be. her family captured dragons
and sometimes killed them, but these were beasts that killed and burned vil
lages as they grew up; there was only one solution for something so powerful
that, that they didn't understand; trap and kill before they killed you. in her
heart, candence believed her village could have changed if given half the c
hance.

being born out of wedlock when her father was married to the chieftess, there was mixed react
ions when the chief came home from war with her in his arms. her father has black hair and her
father's wife is a stark blonde, so when she was born with fiery red hair, there was no mistake t
hat sandra was not the chieftess's daughter. sandra is the outcast of her village. most would rat
her they live in peace and ignore the war waging between dragon riders and dragon poachers,
but sandra snow disagrees. her true last name, her father's last name, stoneking was stolen from
her at birth. because the chieftess refuses to recognize her, she has to take the bastard name,
snow. sandra never met her true mother, and despite the war, she desires to have her own child.
most in her village consider her to be strange, saying that dragons should be left alone to meet
their fate and that a direwolf is no pet. it's like jon snow as a girl

a glance in the past
ambrose was a young child when
dragons were rediscovered. for
nearly a decade, the people
of his small island nation waged
war between one another. on one
side were dragon riders, the other:
dragon hunters. his parents stayed
out of the war, and were killed when
he was 19 by dragon hunters. after
this, he decided to take a side.
when he was 22 years old, he led an
ambush on a dragon hunter camp,
liberating the caught dragons. it was
there he met frigga, his dragon. he
nursed her back to health, and the
two have been bonded ever since.

└─────────────┘
┌──────────────┐

dragon information
frigga is a species of dragon known as
the sparkclaw. a strike class dragon,
this species of dragon is known for
their ability to conduct lightning in
place of fire. they are a sought after
species, as their scales go for a high
price on the market. they come in
variants of grey, red, blue, and black.
they are hard to train but are loyal to
those humans who gain their trust.
they are capable of short-distance
fighting and excel at it compared to
long-distance. their name stems
from their ability to strike an
individual with their claws and leave
lightning-type wounds in its place.

personality
ambrose wears his heart on his sleeve and is an optimist at heart. he dreams big and
goes out of his way to see they become a reality. he sees the best in people and wants
nothing more than to see humans and dragons live in peace. he is rather stubborn, as
once he puts his mind to something he must see it play out. he can be crass at times,
especially in moments of stress. he enjoys making others laugh and has an arsenal of
jokes up his sleeve to turn frowns upside down. also, he is a fantastic strategist.

ederra grew up in what she
considered to be a dragon utopia.
the chief of her village was
proud to protect dragons and
their people would often go out
on raids on well-known outposts.
there came a day when the hunters
finally found the village, a mole
within the chief's inner circle ratting
them out. when the assault began,
she was forced to hide. at the end
of the massacre, ederra was the
sole survivor of her village, alongside
larkin, the sole surviving dragon.

dragon information
larkin is from the swiftstrike species,
a subspecies of the razorwhip,
and a member the sharp class of

covered in metal-like scales, which
come in variants of silver, blue, and
white. this species of dragon is well-
known for their striking blue fire
they shoot, as well as their ability
to fly quickly and change directions
with uncanny precision. they are
better at close combat, due to their
razor-sharp claws and spikes cover-
ing their tail. larkin is protective of
ederra, and refuses to allow others
to ride her. she is also prideful.

personality
ederra is a vengeful individual with the sole goal of getting revenge for the deaths of
her people. she is a secretive, manipulative young woman who isn't afraid to get what
she wants. she's slow to trust, and even when she does, she may betray others to get
something she wants. underneath the vengeful spirit, ederra is hurting, holding out
the hope that she'll be able to one day tear down the walls she's built around her. she
keeps people at a distance for fear of losing them as she did her village. she longs for
a time when she can finally settle down and have a family of her own.

CANDENCE DELACROIX

STATUS. lone survivor BASICS. 23yo, female COMPANION. dragon, jorah LOCATION. the mountains

life was gone from the mountains; no mouse stirred or rabbit twitched. the only sounds were the crunching of the frozen snow beneath her feet and the beating of wings above her head. as a hatchling, jorah was too small to frighten any manor of species. his flames were the only thing that saved her the day dragon riders destroyed her village and cut off the head of her father. the dragonslayer. candence knew he would die some die, but she thought at the jaws of a dragon, not by the hands of riders who were supposed to stand for peace. she had been tracking these riders for months, but somehow, they were always one step ahead. jorah was still young, only three years old, which meant he had trouble listening like any young dragon. he flew far above her ahead and sometimes disappeared for whole nights. it worried her because of the dragon hunters, but candence would never attempt to tie her dragon down. she loved him and had raised him from the day he was a hatchling: he was her son, maybe the only son she would ever have. he had changed the way she felt about dragons being killers and heartless creatures. jorah would have changed the dragonslayer's mind, too.

candence looked up at the sky and as if summoned, jorah let out a loud chirp and circled before bursting through the trees (and breaking a few). he landed close to her side and a purr rumbled deep in his throat. she touched the side of his neck and traced the scar jorah had gotten the day he saved her. an arrow had pierced his still soft scales and nearly killed him. jorah purred and lowered his massive neck. she climbed onto it and held on tightly, holding her breath as the dragon beat his wings and lifted her into the sky. a tree branch hit her on the way up and she winced, touching the cut on her forehead tenderly. but the moment they surfaced above the trees and she could see the whole world, she forgot about the bloody wound. "fly low, we don't want anyone to see us." she told him, not really sure if he would understand. but he never got too high in the air anyways; both of them knew the consequences of being known in this world.

as the sun began to set, jorah's head lifted and his eyes searched the land. she suspected he was looking for a cave to hide in. candence pointed toward a mountain peak and pulled jorah's neck. he circled just above it before landing smoothly and crouching down so his mother could climb off. she stroked him gently and brought her face to his, listening to his loud purring. he approached the cave with a suspicious twitching of his nose. candence tried to go first but jorah pushed her back lightly with his tail, checking for danger. by the time she had curled up on the cold ground, the only separation between the hard rock and her boy a mammoth's fur she had gotten from her father, the sun had disappeared from the sky. jorah wrapped himself around her loyally, his head up as he watched the entrance. "it's okay, you can sleep. we're safe here," she murmured drowsily, before dozing off.

SANDRA SNOW

STATUS. chief's daughter BASICS. 27yo, female COMPANION. direwolf, mira LOCATION. stoneking's camp

sandra smiled as the chieftess walked by, receiving nothing but a cold glare in return. her shoulders slumped slightly as a whine sounded behind her. "don't worry, mira." sandra told her direwolf. "scowls and glares never hurt anyone," ever the optimist, it was hard to get her down. but still, today was her nameday, and she was old enough to take control over the village. she was her father's only surviving heir, but she was no heir at all: just a bastard with the last name snow. even bjorn, her father, recongnized his daughter. but the chieftess never would. if her father died while he had no heirs, the village would cease to exist. the stonekings legacy would disappear into ash.

"come on, mira." sandra would find no celebration for her birth here. the red-head began walking out of the camp before she heard a distant call behind her. she turned around and a small smile crossed her lips. a small, blonde girl ran out to her arms and wrapped herself around sandra. "well hello, lily."
"happy nameday!" the little girl cried. lily's mother, the village's healer, came scrambling over. she had a baby in her arms and another smaller boy trailing behind her. she had the largest family in the village and the second best claim to the throne with her three grown boys. she was the chief's brother's wife; sandra's aunt. there were whispers of the magic that kept her fertile.
"lily, come away now. that direwolf will hurt you." her aunt pulled lily away by the arm, refusing to meet sandra's eyes and appearing hesitant as she stared at mira. sandra waved good-bye to her cousins, wrapped her other hand around mira's muzzle as the direwolf growled lowly.
"they already don't like you, mira." she warned, though a small smile played on her lips. "you'll hurt them," sandra mocked her aunt, laughing as mira stopped growling and looked up at her with a tilted head. "only if they hurt me, right?"

sandra walked toward the stables, saddling her horse. he was shorter than most of the stoneking's horses, but leaner and much faster. he was her gift last nameday, yet she had still to name him. they were war horses and many would die come spring. she pulled his mane and pushed on his flank with her heel, urging him forward into the woods. the horse snickered and bolted, lurching sandra forward. the red-head glanced at mira, who ran several paces behind them, but followed loyally. she lead her horse toward the lake, hoping that with any luck she might see dragons fishing there. they intrigued her and invoked the fear of all the gods in her, but they were so beautiful. like nothing she'd ever seen before. she wondered how much duller the world would be without them. as she approached the waterline, the corners of her mouth lifted into a smile. she watched as a dragon dove into the water, resurfacing with jaws full of fish. she took the fish to three young hatchlings on the shore, who chirped and purred as they ate their food. she dismounted her horse and tied his reins off on a tree, sitting down cross-legged on the bank of the lake. mira lay next to her, her throat rumbling as sandra stroked her between her massive ears.

Ederra
    22 | lesbian | larkin, her dragon | location: dragon hunter's ship

pressing the tip of her blade to the dragon hunter's throat, the young woman smirked at him. "i'll ask you this one more time: where were you taking these dragons?"

she'd been staking this ship out for a little over three days, watching with a keen eye on the men and women who had stolen a shipload of dragons from a nearby island. said dragons were now free, courteous of herself and larkin. the rest of the ship was slowly starting to go up in flames, so she didn't have long for this little interview before she herself had to be on her way. "i will never tell you," the man spat, though she heard a gulp in his voice when she pressed her blade just a bit more. watching him for a moment, she could feel the heat on her back as the flames grew ever closer. the two held eyes for a moment, before era lowered her blade.

"keep your secrets then thief. but know this, i will find where you were taking them, and i will burn it to the ground," she spat, before mounting larking. keeping her heels into the dragons' side, the two took off, heading northeast, the direction the ship was headed. wherever the ship was headed, she would find it on her own. no use in keeping the man on a burning ship to die. she was better than the hunters: she didn't want or have to kill for information. the burning ships and bases that laid beyond her were more than enough proof of her threat to the dragon hunters and their operation.

the two soon found land, landing within the forest on the side of a mountain. sliding off of larkin, ederra landed with a thud, letting out a soft hiss of pain. one of the hunters had managed to get her with an arrow, but it was nothing more than a graze. she'd look at it more closely when the two were safe. the dragon let out a low chirp, pressing her head into her side. "i am fine larkin. it's nothing, let's find somewhere to camp for the night," she instructed the other, heading off deeper into the forest.

soon the two came to a clearing, the mouth of a cave just a bit of a climb away from it. ederra looked towards the caves opening, feeling a breeze go through that shook her to her core. she wasn't used to the cold, from a tropical island farther south from where she currently was. shaking her head, she looked towards her dragon. "that looks like a good place to rest for the evening," she told the other, but got a growl in response. frowning, ederra looked at the dragon, then at the mouth of the cave again, before sighing.

"fine, outside in the cold it is then," she groaned, going over to a tree that was a bit hollowed out. she sat down, curling into the tree for some hope of protection from the wind. tossing and turning for a few minutes, she watched as larkin finally came to lay in front of her, the others' metal-like scales not helping ederra's cold predicament. shaking her head, she crawled up and over the dragon, standing to head towards the cave.

"don't care if you're claustrophobic larkin, i'm not trying to freeze out here," she spat, heading towards the mouth of the cave once more. the dragon let out a bark, flying up and landing in front of her, growling. "oh no, out of the way larkin, i'm not playing this game with you right now."

Ambrose
24 | heterosexual | frigga, his dragon | location: at a lake outside stoneking's camp

the young man's smile spread wide across his face as he watched the young hatchlings with interest. he had been frequenting this lake for quite a while, making sure to steer clear of the nearby village as he came to watch the hatchlings. it was a species he hadn't seen much of, so he wanted to gather as much information on them as possible before he moved on in his journey. frigga laid basking in the sun, snorting and flicking her tail in annoyance as the hatchlings jumped all over her. one hatchling grew a bit bold, biting into the dragons' tail. frigga sat up suddenly, causing the hatchlings to fall off her back. she growled lowly at the one who bit her, before stalking to ambrose's side. chuckling softly, the man patted her head, before grabbing her face and shaking it gently back and forth.

"oh is the big, mean frigga annoyed with some babies?" he teased, receiving a glare in response. he let out a hearty laugh, letting her go as he grabbed his notebook from his satchel. he took some notes of the hatchlings, noting how quickly they had been growing over the past two weeks since he had first noticed the eggs. satisfied with his notes, he put the notebook away before looking at frigga with a smile. "come on girl, let's go for a dive," he told her, hopping onto the dragon's back. he'd never get over the rush of emotions that coursed through him every time the dragon took off into the air. he felt like a giddy child each time they soared up towards the clouds.

they circled a few times around the area, keeping to the clouds for cover in the event they were spotted. since their arrival however, it didn't seem there were any hunters around. one could never be too careful however. they soon came to a stop, frigga hovering far above the lake they had once been next to. patting the side of her neck, ambrose pushed himself to his feet, balancing as he stood on his girls' neck. he trusted her to catch him. though, doing this over water always calmed his nerves. "ready girl?" he asked her, getting a concerned chirp in response, "come on frigga, you got this. i trust you." with that, he leapt off her neck, letting out a loud 'woo' as he dove towards the lake. was this dumb? potentially. but he loved free falling and the rush he got from being off frigga's back.

whistling loudly as he continued to plummet, he glanced up towards his feet as he watched frigga come diving after him. he smiled wider, before looking back down at the lake, suddenly keenly aware of how close he was too it. eyes wide and the fun of the fall gone, he looked back up at frigga who's fear matched his own. "frigga!" he shouted in fear, closing his eyes as he mentally prepared himself to slam against the face of the lake. he held his breath, before it was knocked out of his chest as claws wrapped around him, jerking him and away from the lake. opening his eyes, he let out a breath of relief as he was suddenly feet away from the water, hovering above it in the safe paws of his dragon. patting her leg, he looked up at her as she bent over to look at him.

"thanks girl, that was close," he laughed, before letting out a startled yelp as she dropped him into the water. when he resurfaced, the dragon was back on the shore, tail flicking and a look of satisfaction on her face.

CANDENCE DELACROIX

STATUS. lone survivor BASICS. 23yo, female COMPANION. dragon, jorah LOCATION. the mountains

"don't care if you're claustrophobic larkin, i'm not trying to freeze out here," it was not the words that roused her from her sleep, rather jorah's loud roar as he defensively placed himself in between whoever was making noise outside. a rumbling sounded and another dragon chirped, it's voice distinctively different from jorah's. "relax, jorah. it's a dragon-rider. they're a friend." even as she said this, candence unsheathed her knife and approached the entrance of the cave with caution rather than curiosity. jorah purred as she touched his neck, though his eyes were wide with mistrust as he glared at the woman and her dragon.

"this is one of the mountains warmer nights." candence called out to her. "i guess you aren't from around here, are you?" jorah's growl rumbled deep in his throat as candence ran her hand over his scales, his eyes still trained on the new-comer. in her other hand, the knife was held securely, though she wasn't holding it threateningly. there was blood from a wound on the woman and she stiffened slightly, wondering when she had gotten into a fight. "an arrow hit you?" she asked carefully. "i've got supplies if you need bandages, but you'll have to tell me why you got hit." she suspected she was a woman that just simply liberated dragons at the risk of her own life, but that made her all the more cautious. people like that were dangerous; in fact, the brunette was probably more deadly than she looked.

SANDRA SNOW

STATUS. chief's daughter BASICS. 27yo, female COMPANION. direwolf, mira LOCATION. stoneking's camp

mira left her side as she wandered through the words, presumably to hunt. sandra was left alone as she observed the hatchlings, smiling as she watched a dragon rider interact with his dragon. watching as his dragon lifted him into the sky, she let out a small gasp as he free-fell. just before he hit the water, his dragon snatched him away from the lake surface. of course, he still ended up soaking wet in the water, which made her chuckle after she remembered to breathe again. dragon riders were stupid, sandra acknowledged that, but they intrigued her all the same.

she stood up and brushed the leaves off her pants, unraveling her horse's reins from the tree. she walked him toward the dragon and his rider, a friendly smile on her face. the stonekings were renown for many things, but their inviting and warm nature was not one of them. she supposed she was a snow, though, not really a stoneking. but she had been trained in the art of combat well, and somewhere around here she had a direwolf. somehow, though, she doubted a man who spent his time watching hatchlings was going to hurt her. "are you okay?" sandra called out tentatively.

Ederra
22 | lesbian | larkin, her dragon | location: the mountains

the dragon growled at her again, before turning at the sound of another dragons' roar. era's eyes widened in surprise, looking between her dragon at the mouth of the cave. "oh now you warn me," she teased, getting an annoyed huff in response. larkin's tail wrapped around her protectively, the other getting low as the woman and her dragon came to the entrance of the cave. she glanced up at the other, tilting her head to the side as she studied the two beings standing in front of her. laughing slightly at her words, she nodded.

"you'd be correct. i came from an island that would rarely get cloudy bar the hurricane season," she informed the other, stroking larkin's side to calm the other. the dragon didn't take her eyes of jorah, growling at the younger dragon. "be calm larkin," she instructed, continuing to stroke her. listening to the other's words, her hand went protectively to her side, suddenly cautious of the other's offer. she glanced at her, before looking around. this could just as easily be a hunter's trap. she'd known some to force dragons to serve them, and she could never be too careful to a stranger offering a hand.

"i just got finished destroying a hunter's ship off the coast of this island. they got the drop on me, caught me off guard, thus the wound," she answered, studying the other carefully. sometimes the truth was helpful, she just needed to be sure not to give too much away. you could never go wrong believing someone was stronger than you. better to over prepare than go in blind.

Ambrose
24 | heterosexual | frigga, his dragon | location: at a lake outside stoneking's camp

by the time he swam back to shore frigga had resumed basking in the sun. shivering slightly as he walked up to her, he crossed his arms over his chest, trying to warm himself back up. "really? you still had to drop me in? was this about the hatchlings?" he asked her, stroking her muzzle gently. he pressed his forehead to hers for a moment, before pulling away. he went to her side where his satchel was, shuffling through it to find a pair of clothes to change into. he stripped off his shirt, throwing it onto frigga's side for the moment as he grabbed a dry shirt from the bag.

ambrose was glad he started with his shirt, as the sudden call of another's voice startled him. turning around quickly, his face flushed as he noticed sandra standing not too far from him. how long had she been there? oh jeez, had she watched him get flung into the lake by frigga? he sure hoped not. "oh, i'm good. great even!" he said, smiling nervously. he leaned against frigga, but the dragon huffed, rolling away from him and causing him to stumble. he gave the other a tense grin, straightening back up and offering his hand that wasn't holding his shirt.

    "i'm ambrose."

CANDENCE DELACROIX

STATUS. lone survivor BASICS. 23yo, female COMPANION. dragon, jorah LOCATION. the mountains

”a dragon liberator, then.” candence chuckled to herself as jorah’s head turned and his breaths became more quiet. he was intruiged by her and no longer felt she was a threat. “this is jorah and i’m candence dela-“ she stopped, clearing her throat abuptly. her last name, her family name, had only ever been known for killing and imprisoning dragons. “cadence delamay. jorah’s been mine since he was a hatchling.” she smiled as her deagon purred, bobbing his head as if he agreed with her sentence. “what island do you come from?” candence inquired, beckoning with her hand for the woman to come nearer to her.

“once, i was supposed to be a maester.” a lie, but a good one. “so i studied many wounds and how to heal them.” she disappeared inside the mouth of the cave to retrieve some items from her bag. when she came back out, jorah was purring at the older dragon larkin and sniffing him. “forgive him, he still has the curiosity and naivety of a hatchling sometime. jorah, come away.” her dragon made it a point to huff but obeyed and laid down at the tree line, his gaze focused on candence’s nimble hands as she thread string through a needle before dousing it in a pure alcohol. “can i help?” she asked, smiling softly.

SANDRA SNOW

STATUS. chief's daughter BASICS. 27yo, female COMPANION. direwolf, mira LOCATION. stoneking's camp

in her village, no one paid much attention to the chief’s bastard. not even her father would for fear of retaliation from the chieftess. sandra should have a half brother or sister by now, but there were rumors that neither her father or his wife could have children. this was dangerous, especially for the stoneking’s name. but what could she do, as a snow and a woman who would take the name of her husband? should she have one, of course. it was all but forbidden for her to marry in her village.

not used to being paid much mind to, sandra averted her eyes as he reached out with his hand, laughing to herself as she tenderly shook his hand. “i’m sandra snow.” she introduced herself, her blue eyes still lowered. pushing her red hair out of her face, she stroked her horse fondly. “do the hatchlings let you touch them?” sandra asked curiously, almost with envy. she had no desire herself to touch them, but it intruiged her as she observed how others interacted with the beasts. “i’m glad you’re okay, i was worried you were going to meet a not-so-nice end there.”
