Lapis sat on the edge as Peridot did. She blankly gazed outward and onward. The more she looked out, the more.. eerie it became. There was a sense of tragedy behind all of this. Each attempt to push those thoughts away were in vain. But, at least something that was once so horrible turned into something pretty. She nodded. "Earth is pretty great." she chuckled bluntly and leaned back on her arms. She tilted her head up to look at the sky. At more of those strange little land masses floating higher above them. "Last I've been here, there was no living thing other than the gems. But now, it's like one big garden. It turned into something nice."

Peridot beamed at the other gem’s comparison. “Yeah, exactly! Maybe the past wasn’t all that great for this place, but now it’s blossomed into something beautiful…” she smiled, her voice full of awe as she craned her head to scan over all the bushes and vines below. She was somewhat blind to the tragedies of the war, of course, she knew it had occurred, but she was created after the events of the wars. Her perspective on the whole ordeal was viewed from a very analytical viewpoint, not emotional in the slightest. So naturally, she wouldn’t understand the impact this place had on her barnmate, but she tried to sympathize with her either way. And now, she seemed much more focused on the beauty of these plains. “Sort of like us!” She joked proudly, pointing to the bright dandelion star on her chest.

Lapis laughed a little at that, looking down at her own new outfit. Just like us. "Heh. Yeah." She smiled, but then it slowly got smaller as she looked more and more at the field, and thought more and more about what she came from and who she once was. More specifically, the debris that littered it. It was so weird, this feeling. She saw the beauty that surrounded every inch of them, and got a sense of awe and comfort from it. But then the weapons and things were there. She even wondered if there were still fragments of broken soldiers here. She imagined a lapis for a split second. Sitting right there next to a berry bush. Hers. What would've happened if she was stepped on a second time. There it was, cracked in pieces. It was shattered like glass and split into sixteenths. She sighed silently, staring blankly upward. Her face turned into a hardened scowl towards the sky. Quit. You're fine, you're here now. Not then. Now. But try as she might, the little sensation never waned. It was frustrating. So, she went back towards the field and focused on a butterfly. It fluttered gently and effortlessly over a bush. She imagined strings pulling them along like a puppet, its movements were so erratic. "Wonder what else is out there." she blurted suddenly, changing the subject and looking out further.

She grew quiet as they looked out at the fields, dangling her feet over the edge of the island as she leaned forward to peer down at the fields below. Peridot hummed quietly, though the extent of her musical knowledge was the friendly little tunes that Steven would crank out on his ukulele. Her exposition had changed a ton from when her and Lapis has first met. Back then she had come off as intimidating and straight-forward but now she seemed almost jejune, absentmindedly toying with the soft grass below her and curiously observing the new area with wide eyes. “Yeah, me too.” She said quietly, before looking up at Lapis. “Wanna go check it out?”

Lapis gave a tiny smirk in return. "Sure." Getting up to her feet, she conjured her wings and flew a few wing beats over Peridot, reaching for her arms and plucking her off the island. She took the smaller gem across the field for a short while, mostly seeing the same thing. She kept glancing back to make sure she didn't lose where the warp pad was. She really didn't want them to get lost because of her. So, they didn't stray too far. It was mostly the same for a little bit. Not really much else other than what was already around them. All except for one thing. It was a strange.. pyramid of some sort. Point-side down. Was it an abandoned base? "What.. is that?" she asked, her eyes widening slightly. Lapis lowered them both down, placing Peridot down a ways away from the thing before flying over to it. She hovered before it for a moment before landing. There seemed to be a door there. An entrance. She approached with caution, tapping it once. Then she noticed the triangular cavity. "Huh."

As she was gently placed back on the ground, Peridot gazed up at the mysterious temple, eyes wide with awe. “Woah.” She poked her head inside of the dark entrance, only to be greeted with a massive room with a high, rounded ceiling. As she tilted her head up to inspect the interior of the pyramid, she noticed the massive mural stretching across the insides of the pyramid. The images depicted were unfamiliar to her, but were interesting, to say the least. “I’ve never seen anything like this before…! It sure is archaic,” she noted, her high voice echoing through the dark room.

Lapis was greatly surprised to see the door just suddenly open for Peridot. With the cavity, she figured a key or something was required for sure. There probably wasn't anything for it after all. Either that, or the Crystal Gems must've been here before. That means it must've been safe...! Right? Either way, she wasn't complaining. She followed after, walking up the steep slope of steps towards the room. The chamber was big, rounded in shape, and covered from wall to wall in magnificent carvings, depicting events of the past. She recognized what it meant after a long hard gaze. There, the rebel leader stood fighting against someone else. Her troops below her. This was the war. Below it were triangular shapes with soldiers inside as well. "Who built this?" she asked curiously, gazing at everything with an excited stare. The second thing that caught her eye was the pyramid in the center. It was floating above a pedestal. That.. was off putting a little. With such an important place like this, she expected it to have more than just a little pyramid inside this gigantic exterior. "What's that?" Lazuli approached slowly, only stopping a few feet away from it. She didn't know if touching it was a good idea. So she didn't.
