xxx"yes, it is quite beautiful and it works in all of the symbols of radia," she said. the princess always had conflicting feelings when she walked down the king's hall. she got an almost eerie vibe from the portraits hung on the wall of past kings, especially at that thought that one day her father's would be on that wall. thankfully, jaiyana would never have to ascend to the throne. unlike in the dark ages of radia, every time a king died another was elected by the council. in the dark ages, inheritance of the throne had been done completely through heredity. though the gaining position of king was now easier than it had even been, you still had to be well known to be nominated, which meant that nobles, rich merchants, warlords and generals were only really considered. she began her walk down the hallway. "i guess i could take you to the gardens now, if you'd like," she offered.

xxxSkylar gave a nod, his mind clouded by his own, anxious, thoughts. His eyes were captured by how grandiose each painting of the past kings were and how far upward the walls reached. Blinking quickly to get out of the hazy trance, he followed the princess out to the empty gardens, which he believed would've been somewhat filled, but then again, the waiters and waitresses were employed to serve deserts and champagne at the ball. The kingdom was shrouded in moonlight, so the gardeners were definitely not around. Skylar's mind then wondered what his father was doing, where he was, if he was here, watching and observing. He was always sneaking around in the darkness, doing unexpected things, as he was an undercover assassin. Skylar managed to run into a door, sending him back a few paces and removing him from the anxious trance he felt himself going in and out of. Forcing his feet to catch up Jaiyana, he continued to follow her, his eyes fixing on the teal fabric of her dress to keep himself tethered to reality.

xxxjaiyana made her way to the end of the hall but turned right before they got to the throne room, which took her to the large glass doors that opened up to the garden. she turned to skylar and saw that he looked fairly anxious. "is something wrong?" she asked him, worried for him. she didnt want to make him feel uncomfortable in anyway by leading him all around the palace. she slowly opened the doors and started to walk out onto the marble path that would lead into the gardens. she didn't want to take him into a dark path if he didn't want to, if he just felt uncomfortable being alone with her or anything like that. she looked up for a moment and could see all of the beautiful stars shining down on them, as well as the huge full moon, which was illuminating most of the hedges in the gardens.

xxxSkylar shook his head when the princess asked if anything was wrong, looking up to meet her eyes and then follow her out to the garden which was shrouded in moonlight. Sky looked upward at the stars and the full moon, which never seemed to dull, only get brighter. "It must've felt weird when you moved in here. This garden's at least ten times bigger than my own house," he stated softly, standing beside her and looking around at the hedges and the fountain in the middle, taking a few steps up to it and leaning down to look at the surface of the water, the steady flow of the fountain soothing him and his mind.

xxxjaiyana nodded. "yeah, before i came here id never worn a dress or even seen a radian rose. i use to live in by the river that splits the upper and lower parts of the village in a simple house where i could train with my mother and then, all of the sudden, i was here and i had all of these new responsibilities. everyone was telling me i couldn't do things that id been doing my whole life," she sighed and looked down at her feet. "sorry for just going on a complete tangent- ill just show you around the gardens," she said quietly, trying to force herself to smile, before walking down the stairs that let them onto the path which would snake around the whole garden.

xxxThe assassin shook his head again, smiling at her reassuringly. "No-no, it's fine. It's interesting to be able to listen to your opinions," Skylar joined her on the path snaking around the garden, admiring the flowers although it was dark. "It seems like everyone's forcing you to be ladylike," he said absentmindedly, looking back up at the moon. "You're probably not the happiest about that, since you were probably raised training to be a warrior like your mom."

xxxthe princess smiled. it was nice to get to talk to someone about her real feelings for once. jaiyana smiled and nodded. "yes, i feel like what i was suppose to be was stolen for me. of course im grateful for the palace, the gardens, the parties, everything, but i'd prefer to just be in a small cottage in the town, training to become a general like my mother," the girl said. she looked over at the huge windows and could see all of the people dancing. "everyone seems like their having such a good time."

xxx"Your parents must've have the best party planners in the land. The party was great for the short time I was in there," Skylar stated. "But then again, I can't exactly speak from much experience, I'm not a party person." The boy chuckled and allowed his eyes to follow the princess's. He stood a few steps behind her and tried to figure out a way he'd be able to discard his weapon, now not even caring what his father thought by now. Jaiyana didn't deserve to be hurt, especially by an outsider. He just couldn't wrap his thoughts around it. It wouldn't happen, not at his hands. Out of the blue, Skylar stepped back up beside her. "If you don't mind me asking, who was that man who you were talking to before I got you out of there?" Sky asked and shifted his gaze down to the princess, his face showing just the smallest sliver of a smile.

xxxjaiyana smiled. "yeah, they are pretty good at what they do, parties arent really my thing either though. i guess they try their best to impress all of their peers, it the best way to show how much of a royal you are," she chuckled a bit. she really wished she did fit in with the rest of the royals and her family because she knew she would have a great time at the ball, or any of their parties for that matter, if she was just like them. however, she couldn't help how she felt. she just wasn't meant a be a princess. she was snapped from her thoughts when skylar stepped by her sit and began to speak to her again. "as he proclaimed, ramon savany, son of general titus savany. the most fitting bachelor in the world for me apparently," she scoffed and rolled her eyes. "i hope he gets whats coming for him," she growled under her breath.

xxx"How ignorant can someone be to degrade a woman for just wanting to continue with her studies?" Skylar thought aloud as he took a seat beside Jaiyana, leaving a decent amount of space for the princess so he wasn't invading her personal bubble. He knew he'd much rather want an educated, strong woman instead of a brain-dead maid who only knew how to do what was considered lady-like. He admired Jaiyana and her want to stick to what she knows and not allowing anyone to change that. Skylar looked back up at the windows that allowed the two to see inside the ballroom, his eyes following the dancing couples inside.
