"i, for one, am not one for dances or gems but i do know how to work a sword," she said with a smirk. "well, i guess i should be letting you go now, you've probably got some important business deals to negotiate," she said kindly. "it was a pleasure to meet you, mr. davids," she commented, giving him a courteous curtsy before she began to walk off. her steps were light as she made her way away from the man, not thinking anything of his presence other than that it was odd for the son of a blacksmith to be at a royal ball. whatever, it wasn't really her business to question anybody, the guards had let him through after all.

xxxThat went well enough, he thought to himself as he walked off.Skylar managed to get his father a few deals after that, with one of the general's son and some random, yet wealthy, man. This still wouldn't please his father sunce he never fulfilled his task at hand. Every so often, Skylar looked around for the princess to make sure that the princess as still there and even check if she was going off alone, to which he'd follow her. This was harder than originally thought, the assassin thought. How did his faher mae this look so easy? Maybe it was because his father was an emotionless, killing machine.

xxxthe princess pushed her way through the crowd making her way towards the door. she couldn't wait to get out of this hell-hole. jaiyana was suddenly stopped when someone grabbed her arm and pulled her back. she was flipped around to see a noble man smiling down at her. she was a little nervous with him staring at her. "it's nice to see you, princess," he said with a devious smile, lifting up jaiyana's small hand and planting a kiss on her hand. "uh, hello," she said with a nervous smile. "your father must have told you about me, i am ramon savany, son of general titus savany," he said with a charming smile. "oh, yes, of course," she said to him, trying to be polite.

xxxIt wasn't his place what was going on between the princess and one of the general's sons, but Skylar definitely looked concerned about it. Glancing over every-so-often turned into two or three times per minute, waiting to see if he needed to scoop in and save her. All of the other nobles, including the king and his wife, were caught up in conversations and didn't really even look to be paying attention to the princess The assassin sauntered over to the wall he was closest to, leaning against the wall and looking around the room, glancing around the room and tuning into to the conversations going around him. Eventually, he got bored and walked back over to the plentiful table with food and champagne, drinking another glass of the bubbling liquid and glancing over his shoulder at the pair once more.

xxx"well, since you know my family, you must also know that my father is extremely rich and i believe that i would be a great husband for you, princess," ramon said, giving her a cheeky grin. jaiyana had never been more uncomfortable in her life. "well, uh, yes. however, im currently not looking for suitor. im currently focusing on my studies and marriage would almost certainly suspend them," the princess said, giving him a nervous smile in response. she could see the anger on his face, he was fuming. "all high and mighty aren't we, princess? well, you might as well burn your books, court ladies aren't good for anything but having children and you'd do well to remember that before you get yourself hurt," ramon growled. jaiyana honestly didn't know how to respond to him and stood their breathless. "nothing to say now, huh?"

xxxNow he saw it. Although the princess's back was turned to him, Skylar pushed through the crowd hurriedly, calling the princess's name to get her out of the situation. He was acting more of a personal guard than an assassin. "Princess Jaiyana, sorry to intrude, but I believe your mother's looking for you," he tried to stand up as straight as possible and sound as official as possible, looking like a servant so that this son of a general would believe it. The princess herself may not've believed it, but it was definitely a way to get her away from this man that's obviously angry.

xxxstill shocked, jaiyana didn't hear skylar calling her name the first time, but when he came up to her and said that 'her mother was looking for her' she knew that he had seen what was happening to her. "oh, yes, it must be tea time, goodbye, sir," she said flipping away from him and rushing off with skylar towards a door that was hidden in the wall. "thank god, you saved me from having to endure one more moment with that pompous sexist moron," she growled. she couldn't believe what he said to her. she stopped at the hidden door, leaning back against it so she was facing him. "is there anything you want in return for your assistance before i slip out of this damned place?" she asked him with a grin.

xxxSkylar smiled gratefully, laughing softly as he kept by her. There wasn't much that came to his mind, but one specific solution stood out from the others. "Could I possibly tag along with you in leaving? If I have to talk to anymore posh nobles here, I might just have to tarnish their relation with my father," he said, glancing over at the princess, then out at the crowd. The chances of her allowing him to tag along was slim, but hopefully she accepted. Skylar felt the guilt returning to him again, being reminded of his laborious task his father'd pinned on him.

xxxjaiyana smiled. "yeah, i can give you a personal tour," she said with a small giggle, raising her eyebrows a bit. she pushed open the door behind her and lead him into a large servant kitchen that was currently packed with refreshments and other supplies for the ball. "this is one of the hidden kitchens, they aren't really used unless theres a big event going on," she said with a shrug before she started walking up the stairs that lead out of the kitchen and up to the actual palace. they finally made it up the long, narrow staircase and opened another hidden servant door that lead into a grand hallway. the ceiling was extremely tall, made of smoothed stone and the floor was made of polished marble with a long purple carpet rolled down the whole floor. "this is the king's hall, not all of the hallways are extravagant as this one," she said with a smile.

xxxThe weight of the knife hidden inside of his suit jacket became immensely heavy. Skylar managed to keep calm as he followed the princess through intricate passageways as she began giving him a tour of the castle, which he didn't really expect to be given at all. As Jaiyana and Skylar entered the King's Hall, the extravagance of the halls became even more beautiful than the last. "Whoever originally designed this castle seriously deserves a million awards; every room is more beautiful than the last," he commented quietly, staring up at the ceiling and just admiring how the castle really embodied Radia, with all the precious gemstones embedded in the walls and how bright everything seemed to be.
