“It makes my complaints sound silly. I’m always complaining about how overwhelming the customers have been recently, but compared to the attention you get, it sounds silly.” She shrugged, then thought about his question for a moment. “You know, I think I could do literally anything else other than work in the bakery. Because I’ve been there all my life, it’s just become so dull and boring. Especially because I’m always with my family. Don’t get me wrong, I love them. But when you spend your entire day working and living with them, it’s just become too much. Though, I definitely don’t want to be a princess like Adeline does.” Lana confirmed and laughed at the idea. “I don’t have anything in mind, really. No jobs stand out. I’d disappoint my family if I did anything else.” As much as Lana would love to change jobs, letting her family down would stay with her for quite a while. “What do you think you’d enjoy if you weren’t the prince?”

Theodore shook his head a little, tilting his head back slightly as he did to get hair out of his face. "Everybody is faced with their own challenges." He told her, taking a glance around the pub. "Royalty does not minimize another person's struggle. I know nothing about what you do or how difficult it is. My problems seem a little more petty when faced with other things." He muttered, eyes coming to rest on her again. Which was true, he had realized that when he first started sneaking out. He realized that before when he'd come into the village when he was younger, though he didn't really think about it then. "I know all about spending time with family...Mine isn't as big as yours, so I have more time to be alone." he sipped at his drink again, setting the glass aside and leaned back in his seat. "Don't blame you. Being royal is pleasant and all, a lot of good things, but it's mostly appearances, learning what to say, meeting people, doing a multitude of things and doing them well. Being pampered is part of it, but trust me when I say that being looked after your entire life all day is quite literally the worst thing in the world. There's too much of me that my chambermaid has seen that I wish she hadn't," he shook his head, but laughed. He grew quiet to think about what she said, sucking in his bottom lip. He had ideas, but he would keep them shoved to the back of his mind. He was sure she wouldn't appreciate him using what little power he did have to get her things, whether it was good intentions or not. "Be a farmhand." he finally answered, shoulders dropping. "It seems much more simple than keeping up with royal things. Maybe work in one of these little shops." He admitted. He was quiet again, watching her. "I think you should find something else to do. Disappoint your family, you don't want to be stuck in the bakery all your life, do you?"

“See, that’s what I’d dislike about being royal. Meeting and having to have a good impression to so many people. Like, the sudden wave of customers left me overwhelmed. Never mind meeting new people or people with higher statuses than I’d ever have. You’re an exception obviously considering you did lie to me.” Lana then laughed at the comment about his chambermaid, then thought about the couple of jobs he had mentioned. “I just sort of want to ditch the whole shop related jobs. I’m sick of selling people things, even if it is just bread. Yes, being a farmhand would be different, but that just isn’t my thing. I’d rather do something I can tolerate rather than work at a place where I don’t fit in. Who knows, I might find something soon? I have my doubts, but I’ll keep an eye out. Escaping the town is on my list of things I’d like to do too. I’m bored of seeing the same things everyday. I love it here, don’t get me wrong, but I’m just bored.” Lana admitted, looking over at him after she had spoken. “But enough about me. I’m sure you’ve got more interesting things to talk about. Like, what would be the ideal princess to you? You wouldn’t belive the rumours hat spread around the town about mystery princesses or people saying that it won’t be long before you sweep them off of their feet.”

"Trust me, riding a few days or weeks out to another kingdom to meet another royal family is not the best." He shook his head, rolling his eyes slightly. "You're lucky in the sense that you only have to be bothered to deal with people for a few moments. It's worse when they come here and they get into all your things." He said,waving his hands slightly over the table in a representation of going through something. "I don't know, I think it'd be fun to farm for a while. Seems like good enough work, a least you'd be making something." He rested his chin in his hand, listening to her. As if he hadn't thought the same thing, but he was sure he would have no idea where to go even if he did manage to get out and run off. He sat up a little straighter when she asked about him again, his brows knitting. "The ideal princess? Oh," He obviously hadn't seemed to give plenty of thought to that. "I dunno. Maybe a princess who isn't worried about appearances, is all really. A lot of them are. Worry about how they're seen. Don't want to spend too much time out in the garden with a foreign prince lest rumors start," he made a face at that. But then he laughed. "People say I'll sweep them off their feet? Well, unfortunately for them, I'm not too strong. Can't pick up too many people at once. As for mystery princesses...eh," he waved his hand in dismissal. "Most who come through here are really only interested in getting married off. Daddy says they should and he's the king so it has to happen!" Theo muttered, hand coming to push his hair back. "Do people talk about me often?"

Lana nodded. Admittedly, working on a farm didn’t sound too bad. But she knew very well that it wasn’t the place for her and that she would end up really hating the job. “A lot of the people in the town say that all of the other princesses are brats. Which I doubt is true. But everybody insists they’re all nasty and spoilt. Maybe they are, I don’t know.” Lana then shrugged, but laughed at his question. “All the time. You wouldn’t believe it. There hasn’t been a day where I’ve walked outside that I haven’t heard your name. The days where I don’t, well, there’s usually something wrong. And with Adeline obsessing over the idea of being a princess, you can imagine how often I hear about that.” She didn’t mind all of the talk about him, but after a while it was starting to bug her, especially as Adeline was doing nothing else but copying and joining in with the gossip.

“No, no...They’re not all spoiled brats. Not at all. Some of them are extremely respectable, quiet. There’s a few that I’ve met in my lifetime that I’d rather drive a heated piece of iron through my skull than speak with, but many are not what everyone believes.” He told her, running his tongue along his bottom lip. “No offense to you, but I’ve come to find out that those in lower class standing tend to have romanticized and exaggerated views of royalty. It’s a bit ridiculous.” He then frowned slightly at her words. That was a bit weird to him. “Can’t imagine anybody really talking about me nonstop — especially when they’re talking about my love life.” he chuckled slightly, shaking his head. “I apologize if she talks even more about me now than before. But, hopefully she toned down the talk of being royalty, yeah? I really wouldn’t want to flatten her dreams, but it’s highly unlikely for a man in the position such as myself to go after anyone non-royal.” He hummed. “Let alone sneak out to talk to such people.”

[Berenice.]

“Well, some of the rumours about royalty in general obviously aren’t true then, from what you’re telling me. But I’ll let you go and find out for yourself what some of those rumours are.” She smiled, but thought of how weird it was that people actually spoke about him as much as they did. “People mainly talk about you because they dream to be royalty. And not for the right reasons. Most just want money and fame. As much as I’d love to have money, I’d never go to such extreme lengths. But I know many people who would.” She shrugged, nodding at what he said about Adeline. “She’s chilled out about the idea a bit, but she still can’t believe she met you. My brothers just make fun of her but she keeps saying you’ll come and stand up for her. But hey, if that’s the case then I’m grateful that you’re talking to me.”

He sucked in air through his teeth, pulling a face. "I think I'm a bit afraid to find out what they are. I'd prefer to live in blissful ignorance of what people think of me," he laughed softly. He nodded slowly at her words,t hough, letting out a puff of air. "Understandable. I was born into a dream. Money and fame isn't all that, to be quite honest. It's just hoarded and talked fondly about, rarely used to buy anything worthwhile, in my own opinion. Don't really want to bother with the swooning and fawning — hence why I come out into town in a poor disguise. Though, it works pretty well considering nobody ever really sees me up close most of the time." Theodore tilted his head to the side, an amused smile slipping onto his lips. "I may just have to come back on my own and stick up for her then. Tell her a little birdie told me she was getting picked on by her mean big brothers." He laughed, shaking his head slightly. He paused, running his tongue over his lip. "I don't want to keep you out too long, you know. You mentioned it. Don't think it'd be good to get you in trouble with your own father."
