[Berenice.]

“Oh, perhaps we could. I’m not really supposed to go out, but I can make exceptions.” Lana quietly replied, laughing at the roll of his eyes as his name was called. “Don’t be too late.” She watched him leave and then looked to Adeline who seems disappointed. But that didn’t last for long. She bounded around the bakery as she exclaimed that she was going to be a princess. Of course nobody took her seriously and if anything she was annoying the customers. But Lana didn’t really care. She’d let her have her fun. Her brothers still looked shocked, but Lana had to make sure to look calm. So she continued wiping down the few tables and counters to pass the time.
Surprisingly, night fell quite quickly for Lana. She told her father she would stay up a bit later to clean the rest of the bakery whilst everybody else went to their rooms for the night. She wasn’t really allowed out. Mainly because her father didn’t want the bakery to get a bad reputation if Lana decided to go out more often. So she had to be quiet and couldn’t be out for too long. With that said, Lana very quietly tidied what was left out in the bakery as she waited for Theo’s return.

When night finally fell, Theodore had escaped the prison he called home by taking his usual path of hopping over the stone wall and followed the short path through the tree line. He took his time to get down there, not in too much of a rush. It wasn't too late, and he wouldn't keep her up too long either. He messed with the strings of his shirt, having dressed in the common clothes he had stashed away in his room to blend in again. Of course, that would be a little harder with him being seen today, but it was dark and there was nobody else out at the moment. Thanks to his little fun today, he'd have to wait a bit before coming back out. Honestly, he should probably just grow a beard and only shave it when he was going to make public appearances, that may help. But then again, he wouldn't want to keep up with it. He was pleased to see light still coming from the bakery, picking up a slow jog to stop in front of the window. He tapped on it, waving to Lana inside. He motioned for her to come out, not wanting to make too much noise inside if she was the only one awake.

[Berenice.]

Lana was relieved to finally see Theo outside. She hadn’t been waiting long, but she didn’t want to spend anymore time in the bakery because she was just quite happy to go out somewhere else. She turned the light off in the bakery, hoping everyone would think she had gone to bed. Lana then tried very carefully to close to door silently and luck was on her side. “Alright then, farmhand. I can’t belive you hid all of that from me.” She wasn’t angry whatsoever and understood why he would just open up about being a prince, but she found herself feeling a bit silly as she had spent a portion of her day being rude to the prince after running into him. “You know, after you’d left, Adeline and my father didn’t stop talking about the whole situation. It was as if I wasn’t there when you arrived.” She laughed, remembering how annoying it was how they went over what had happened at least fifty times. “Adeline did say your guards were a bit scary. I was wondering why she wasn’t as talkative as usual.”

Theo greeted her with a soft hello after she had exited the bakery. "Can't believe you believed it. Well, actually I can." He teased, motioning for her to follow him back up the path. "But you must think I'm awfully clever, don't you?" He half joked. He let out a laugh about her father and sister, quietening it down with a hand over his mouth. "It's kinda odd, having people get so worked up about me being in places. Especially when they have no idea that they saw me beforehand." He said, clasping his hands behind his back. He hummed softly, understanding Adeline's wariness of his guards. "They're annoying. Follow me around whenever I leave the castle grounds. They're a little too intimidating for my liking, scare people off. There really was no need for them to be as gruff as they were just standing there today. But hopefully Adeline enjoyed the visit?" He asked, looking at Lana. The answer was quite obvious, but it was to be sure.

[Berenice.]

“Oh shush. Is that why Raulf was laughing away? If you want to be even more believable, I’d start by telling him to practice keeping a straight face. He doesn’t seem to do that very well.” She answered with a nod. “I mean, I did yell at you when we crashed into each other. And to be honest, even if I did know who you were, I still would’ve yelled at you. But it was still a surprise. I can’t belive I fell for your little lies.” She was quite gullible anyway as it was, so it just proved that point exactly. It was so like Lana to get caught up in the town’s drama because she believed everything. So, it wasn’t too much of a surprise that she fell for Theo’s lie. “Hey, it’s their jobs. You can’t really call them annoying for doing their jobs properly. It would be pretty useless having something like a clown as a guard. I’d love a guard. The amount of thieves in this town is actually unbelievable. Although, I haven’t seen as many this week.”

"It is. He was more laughing about my poor lies than anything else., but I'll tell him that. I'm sure he'd love some constructive criticism." He glanced around the dark street, the wet ground glistening with what little candlelight came from those perched near doors. It got a little brighter the closer they came to the square, the pub and inn still open — the pub itself buzzing. "That was a surprise. I'm not used to being yelled at like that. Not that I haven't been scolded before...." He looked toward Lana, shrugging one shoulder. "They are, but I don't think they should be so uptight. It doesn't give a good impression when everyone is scared of them. Sure, be intimidated by, they're guarding me for a reason, but tone it down a little." He waved his hand as he spoke. "I've a run in with one thief all the times I've come out here. He wasn't very good either, more shaky than anything else. One good shove and he was off. Maybe the thieves aren't as bad as you think. The rain's probably kept them inside though, which thankfully it's stopped. Hopefully it'll stop for a while, I'm quite tired of it." He muttered, head tilted up toward the dark sky. The clouds had gone, leaving the inky black of the sky with the stars speckled about. "It interferes with my sneaking out."

[Berenice.]

“Well, sorry for yelling at you I guess. I was just busy.” She dodged some puddles and made her way inside the pub, enjoying the coziness that it held. “Well, you obviously haven’t met the worst of the thieves, then. We’ve had our things stolen one too many times by them. It’s just started to become boring, so I’m always stocking up with ingredients just in case we have to re-supply in a rush. Fair enough if they need food, I guess.” Lana looked around the pub, somewhere she rarely went into because the bakery took up her life. “Well, now I know who you are, I don’t really know what to talk to you about. For starters, why do you sneak out? That’s a big risk, isn’t it? I would’ve thought you’d have a lot to do during the day.”

Theodore laughed slightly at her apology, shaking his head. "I deserved it, though I didn't really see you," He said, following her into the pub. It wasn't too crowded, mostly people milling around and minding their own, a few groups of men settled here and there to talk. He'd been in a few times, though Raulf had suggested that they not linger most of the time to not draw attention to Theodore. He moved to where the bar tender was cleaning up, fishing out a few coins to hand over for drinks. "It is, and I do, but it gets boring." He said, sighing softly. He waited till they were given drinks and moved to a little table farther off in the corner. "I do it because I can't stand to be kept inside all the time. I'm taught plenty, have a world of things to do. My father wants me to became a swell knight like he had been as a boy, prepare myself to be king, but....It's a nice position, really, and I wouldn't mind it, but I hate the fact that I can't do anything. It's a lot easier to just sneak out and have fun than have people tip-toeing around you and your guards when you come out. Plus, it's nice not to be fawned over if I look like a worked farmhand," He raised his glass slightly to sip at the drink, wrinkling his nose a bit at the taste.

Lana nodded as she listened to what it was like being a prince. In her opinion, she would hate to have such high status. It sounded like so much pressure. And she thought working in the bakery was bad! “Ah, I get why you’d sneak out, now. So, don’t you like the attention you get when you come here? You know, when people can actually recognise you? I can see how it might become a bit much, but I don’t know, you might like it?” Lana asked, then sat down at the table. “Oh, and I always to thank you for making Adeline’s day. I’ve never seen her so happy. But she told me that she doesn’t like the sound of having lots to do. I’m pretty sure she thinks that being a princess is just about having lots of frilly dresses.”

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it even a little bit. Sure it's nice, but can get a bit overwhelming fairly quickly." He admitted, glancing around the pub. "The only reason they recognize me is the damn clothes. None of these people have seen me up close as 'Prince Theodore'. All of it's been Tee. The prince is kept at a distance, hidden away." He muttered, eyes settling back on Lana. The corners of his eyes crinkled as he smile, nodding once. "Of course. I figured that might avert things even a little bit. As frilly as the dresses get, princesses have to do a lot. Lots of training to become a lady, sewing and things like that." He said, recalling things he'd been told. "And not all of them are chalked up to be the person they're so vigorously deemed as." He added, sipping at his drink again. His finger circled the top as he set it back down. "Tell me, Lana, what's something you'd prefer to be doing rather than working in that bakery?" he asked, head tilted slightly to the side.
