It was a bright day, the sun high in the sky and casting warmth all over the kingdom, accompanied by the humidity of a looming storm, the clouds far off in the distance. It was more of perfect day than anything, much better than the rain they'd been getting lately, which had prohibited the prince from completing his regular tasks. It hadn't been too much of a bother for him, considering he didn't always have the energy or interest to practice swinging a sword or copying hundred year old words, or running around and doing God knows what to keep him busy. More importantly, that rain had kept him from doing what he was doing now — climbing over the lowest part of the garden wall, another boy on the other side waiting for him. "Did you forget how to climb jagged stones, Theo?" the boy called, a teasing tone to his words as he watched his friend struggle over the wall. "I didn't forget, they've just gotten loose. And you're no help! I'm the prince, shouldn't you be hoisting me over this wall?" He grunted, finally flinging his leg over the edge and letting himself drop to the ground below. The grass was still a bit squishy, though it was mostly just wet dirt. Theodore wiped a hand over his forehead, pushing loose hairs back and then started down the worn path around the outerwall that lead towards the village. "It's been a few days, I'm sure the vendors have got some things to sell. I'm sure the produce will be good enough with all the rain!" Theodore called to Raulf, the other, boy catching up to him. Theodore had ditched his finer clothes, wearing some of Raulf's. They were a bit small, fit snuggly on him, but they helped him blend in with the people who lived down the hill from the castle. "I think that some of those men who duel are going to be in the square today. That'll be entertaining," Raulf suggested, running a hand through his own dark, curly hair. The two made their way down to the square, careful to not be noticed slipping out of their spot in the thin tree line before making their way into the crowd. It was busy and a bit crowded, something Theodore tended to forget. But all was well, as he found a vendor selling apples, buying one for both him and Raulf before they weaved their way around people to the town center, it becoming apparent that what Raulf had mentioned was true. Things were being set up as a crude ring, just a place where people, mostly men, could give a bit of entertainment and duel each other with wooden weapons (or real, depending on how serious they were), or even just taking some time to wrestle around. It was all good fun to Theodore, and he enjoyed how people laughed and watched with glee. "Seems like they're still setting up. We could go else where for the moment. Perhaps the pub? I wouldn't mind a drink or two." he said, beginning to leave the crowd of people. He'd just stepped out of the mass when he crashed into someone, letting out a gasp of surprise and immediately reached out to grab whoever it was. "So sorry!" He said quickly, offering an apologetic smile to the girl he'd run into.
((I hope this is alright! There's no need to write as much as that, just as much as you can get out, even more if you like !!))
