Echo gave Eric an un-amused look. "It itches." she complained, tapping her finger in annoyance. She rolled her eyes as Eric tried to reason with her, once again being as stubborn as a mule. Eventually, she sighed and leaned back in her bed. "I know." she said slowly and looked into her lap. "You know I don't like things on my face though." she whispered and scratched at her scars. She stared up at the ceiling, feeling her abdomen begin to throb again.

Kita couldn't help but chuckle quietly. "I understand. That's why I made sure you didn't look. It would only make things worse." she held onto his hand and led him out of the exam room. "Should we go check on the others. We should probably come up with a game plan. We haven't exactly had a chance to discuss our circumstances since we got here." She peered into Echo's room and shook her head. It was obvious Echo was ready to bust out of there.

Cinder thought for a moment. "Your face is probably plastered everywhere right now. They probably think you escaped." She took a deep breath and looked up at him. "I mean. He said I'd pay. Maybe they plan on an interrogation. It could give me an idea of the layout of the place if they transport me. I could scout it out." she shrugged. Due to her training, she knew that she could handle it. Though the idea scared her.

Eric rolled his eyes “stop complaining, love.” He whispered and gently brushed her hair from her face “I know, but this is to help you.” He told her and kissed her forehead gently. He looked around the room and walked over to the bags, pulling out some chips “want something to eat to get your mind off of it?” He asked, taking the small bag of plain chips over to herand placing it on the bed.

Calvin nodded and followed her quietly “yeah.” He whispered, walking with her and looking around “I think we should stay honestly.” He whispered “these people can keep us safe and away from anymore harm.” He added, gently squeezing her hand before lifting his hand and knocking on Echo’s door lightly.

Nathan tightened his arms around her and nodded “okay, we’ll wait a while.” He whispered, pressing a kiss to her forehead “but if you get hurt while we’re here, I’m letting Zae bash some skulls.” He have her a small grin and laid his head against her shoulder “we’ll go with your idea, love.” He told her and smiled at her. He rubbed her back and hummed very softly, sensing her fear “it’s okay.”

"I'm just stating my opinion!" she yelled after him as he walked away. Echo shook her head when he offered her food. "Thanks. I'm okay though." she messed with the blood transfusion tube and thumped her head back onto her pillow. Echo jerked her head to the side when she heard a knock on the door. To her surprise, it was Calvin and Kita. "Hey guys." she said quietly and gave them a small smile. It was relieving to see that they were both okay. Kita walked over, waving her tails slowly.
"It's good to see you feeling better."
"Yeah. I'm glad I'm not dead either." Echo ran her hands through her hair and then looked to Calvin. "I see they patched you up as well. How's your shoulder?"

Kita nodded in agreement. "I'm hoping we can stay as well. I don't know how Echo will feel about it though. I mean, they are free to do what they want." she watched as Calvin knocked on the door and slowly stepped inside. Kita waved to Echo and Eric before walking over to the side of Echo's bed.

Cinder nodded. "Okay. Try not to worry too much while I'm gone. I don't think they'll kill anyone." she pressed her forehead against his. Truth be told, she had no idea what would happen. "I love you." Cinder said quietly, wrapping her arm around him. A while passed before she heard the door to the prison open. She lifted her head and held her breath. Four guards stopped at her cell. One banged a pole on the metal bars, causing Cinder to flinch. "I'll see you later." she whispered into his ear and stood up. Cinder held onto Nathan's hand as long as possible before she was forced to let go.
"Get out here!" the guard barked. Cinder stepped into the light, squeezing her hand. The three guards darted into the cell, seizing her shoulders and shoving her arm behind her back. Cinder winced but remained quiet as they shoved her out of the cell. She sneaked one last glance in Nathan's direction before turning away, ready to memorize the various hallways of the agency.

Eric growled softly and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him after Calvin was done speaking "the tubes are helping you, getting upset over them isn't going to help you any." He said lowly, staring into her eyes before moving away and sighing "I'm going to go get my bandages changed." He said and walked out of the room.

Calvin nodded "yeah, but I want to stay here, my family is here." He told her, of course he wasn't talking about his actual family, they abandoned him a long time ago, he was talking about the heroes who took him in and he learned to love. Once Echo spoke to him, he smiled "yeah, they did." He mumbled "eh, numb.. they gave me like four numbing shots before they stitched up." He told her.

Nathan nodded "I'll try not to." He whispered then hugged her tightly "I love you too." he told her, managing to quickly kiss her cheek before she began moving away from him, he let his arm go out as far as it could so he could hold onto her just a bit longer. He closed his eyes and tried not to let his anger get to him when they yanked her arm behind her back, he slowly opened his eyes, catching her glance before she turned away.

Echo looked away from Eric as he scolded her. "Okay. Okay." she said quietly. Normally, there would have been a snarky response that followed. However, it was a different story when Eric scolded her. "Sorry." she whispered and watched as he left. Echo looked over to Calvin and nodded. "I'm glad it's at least numb for the time being." She fixed the tubing around her face and then stared at Calvin curiously. "Family? Real or adopted?" she realized how personal the question was as soon as she asked it and kicked herself internally. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." she added quickly.

Kita walked back to stand next to Calvin, shouldering him gently as she did so. She too was curious when Calvin stated "Family" but didn't want to pry. However, Echo took care of that when she blurted out a question. Kita rolled her eyes and shot the girl a glare. "You're just all business aren't you?" she replied sharply, ready to stand up for Calvin if needed.
"Sorry. Sorry. Sorry." Echo put her hands up in a surrender position.

A few hours later, the prison gate opened and a guard walked in with Cinder in his arms. He carried her babydoll style up to the cell and unlocked the door. The guard placed her down gently on the ground before securing the door and leaving the prison. Cinder stirred and opened her eyes. Her lip was busted open and her eye was black. She managed to sit up, using her arm for support. "Nathan." she whispered and stared into the darkness. "Good news. I know the way out now." she whispered, her voice heavy with fatigue.

Eric walked down the hallway, his eyes darkened with the obvious anger he was feeling, he walked up to the nurse's station and leaned against the desk a bit "hi." He said, taking a deep breath to calm himself before speaking again "could you changes my bandages?" He asked softly, his eyes lightening up as his anger slowly faded away, all his sudden movements before had caused his side to begin bleeding again and it was soaking the bandages.

Calvin watched Eric storm out then slowly turned his attention back to Echo "yeah." He mumbled before tensing up and looking away. He slowly sighed and looked back at her "adoptive you could say." He spoke in a low and hurt tone "my actual family abandoned me." He added, coughing to cover up the sadness that was thick in his voice "I don't mind that you asked, it's just a bit of a sensitive topic." He told her, looing towards the door as Samuel walked up to the doorway "uncle Calvin!" the little boy shouted cheerfully and ran over to him, jumping into his arms "hey buddy!" Calvin smiled happily.

Nathan looked at her and quickly moved over to her after the guard left "good job, love." He whispered, walking up to her and scooping her up into his arms, carrying her further back into the cell, sitting down and resting her on his lap "good job, baby." He whispered again, changing the little pet name he used "are you okay though?" He asked softly, able to see her a bit through the dark.

“Eric I-“ she watched as he stormed out of the room, instantly feeling terrible for having upset him. She looked down into her lap, staying quiet as Calvin spoke about his family. Echo nodded as he finished, not looking up at him. She didn’t say anything and messed with the sheets of her bed, hoping Eric would come back soon. However, she knew he needed his space.

The nurse looked up to see Eric and gave him a smile. “You seem upset. Everything okay?” She straightened her scrub jacket and messed with her hair. “Well. If things don’t work out between you and her, I’m always open.” She winked at him before grabbing medical supplies. “Yeah I’ll fix you up. This way.” She grabbed his arm and led him into a room. The nurse set down the gauze and took off his old bandages. “Mind if I just Stitch this up?” She asked and looked up at him. “It’ll heal better.”

Kita nudged Calvin with her shoulder again before grabbed his hand. She understood how hard it was to talk about these types of things. Seeing how upset Echo was, she stepped back towards the door. “Right... well, Calvin and I can come back later maybe? And discuss things? You seem upset and I know you’ve had a long day.”

Cinder managed a small smile, relieved to be back with Nathan. “Yeah. I can show you once-“ she started to cough a few times, wincing at the pain in her chest. “Once we get out of here.” She finished and wiped her bloodied nose and lip. “Just... give me a second to catch my breath.” Cinder was exhausted from the long session and rested her head on Nathan’s shoulder. “I’ll be alright. It wasn’t too bad. Just some electricity and some really annoyed heroes.” She smirked before looking up at him. “Are you okay?” She asked before starting to cough again.

He closed his eyes as she removed his bandages, only opening them again as she asked him a question "go ahead, anything to let me get back to being.. well, me quicker." He said and smiled at her again.
