Monica woke up after Evan left for work. She got dressed and ready to attend her nursing classes.

Mary woke up at dawn, which was normal for her. She watched the sunrise from her window. Maria was still asleep, snoring and drooling on the pillow they were sharing. Mary didn't mind at all. She was feeling a little better, but she still needed her medicine.

Evan came in and got updated on his patients, he headed in to see the girls after a little while, they had already been fed breakfast and he had Mary's medicine in a needle since she didn't like pills.

[Boomer]

Mary and Maria were given eggs and bacon for breakfast. They were just happy to eat anything other than fruits and nuts. They finished their food quickly, then pushed the table back. Maria curled up and yawned, feeling sleepy from eating. She was about to fall asleep, but she saw Evan with another needle in his paw. The girl growled some as she hovered over Mary. Mary was a little nervous, but she actually pushed Maria off. She had learned that the needles would be part of her life, at least for now.

Evan chuckled softly, "It's either the needle or pills." he said as he looked at her, he gave the pups a soft smile, "And afterwards I will give you both some candy." he said with a warm smile.

[Boomer]

"Candy!" yapped Maria, jumping off the bed. She bounced around, excited to have something familiar. Mary looked a little confused. "Candy?" she said, pointing to her palm. It was her way of understanding what the pills were; little tiny "candies" that fit in Evan's palm. She hoped that Evan knew what she meant. It would take the girls time to remember language. Maria ended up grabbing onto Evan's sleeve. "Candy?" she asked, pointing to his pockets.

Evan chucklel, "Soon Maria.' he said when she tugged at his sleeve, he called Rachel to bring him the pills for Mary as he watched the pups, he smiled at them, "I am Dr. Duke." he said as he looked at the little ones, "I am going to be making sure you are both okay." he said as he smiled at the pups, setting the needle down on a tray.

The sisters looked to each other for a moment. They hadn't seen a doctor before; they didn't know what exactly doctors did. Rachel returned with the pills, then gave them to Evan. "I'll get her some water." she said, taking the empty cup from breakfast and filling it with water. Mary looked at the pills and tried to grab them. Maria stuck her paw into Evan's jacket pocket, hoping to find candy. Instead she found a pen, much to her dismay.

Evan chuckled as he watched, "Just wait." he smiled, he looked at Mary, "You can't chew these okay? Just swallow." he said, pantomiming to show her what to do before he handed her the pills and then the cup of water and watched her.

Mary watched Evan closely before copying him. She managed to swallow the pills without choking or coughing them back up. She set her cup of water on the table, slightly tilting her head. She was curious why she couldn't chew on the pills. Maria took the pen and looked around the room for something to draw on. She spotted some paper towels and tore off a piece before doodling on it. Of the little words they remembered, they could write their names and their birthday. Other than that, they didn't remember much.

Evan smiled at her, "They don't taste very good." he told her as he reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a wrapped candy for her., HYe looked over at Maria, "Want a candy?" he asked with a smile, holding one out to the other pup, he'd have tograb them some colouring suppiles.
