Erika - hunter - female - 28
located at the gathering - tagging none/open - feeling ouch
Erika had settled into a comfortable silence, catching bits of the conversations around her as she watched
the fire consume the logs that Samir had stacked. The crackling of the flames was a soothing, familiar sound,
but the unpleasant itch to leave and be alone was ever present, festering somewhere inside of her chest in
a place she couldn't reach. Without a true warning, the world and its noises faded into a buzz in the back-
ground of her mind. The sound of her own heart thumping at an unnatural pace flooded her senses and ringed
in her ears like an inescapable alarm. The near-painful prickling running along her spine was the tell-tale sign
of the moon's influence. The others must have felt it too, but for her it was more acute - she could feel the
moon pulling her and tempting for each of her cells to turn, to let go and shift. Clinging to shreds of composure,
she stood up abruptly and headed for the trees. Being inexperienced and barely in control of her form, she
was aware that resisting would only make the feeling worse. Her steps turned into strides, her shoes slipping
on the snow, half-melted by the heat of the fire.
Once she was obscured by the ebb of the shadows, away from prying eyes, she crashed to lean against one
of the trees. The pain was now tangible, stabbing at her spine and tearing at her sides. Her head was swim-
ming and she soon doubled over like a drunk on fourth of July before falling to her knees in the snow. The cold
wetness seeped through the knees of her jeans, clawing at her skin like a thousand small pins, but she was
too distracted to notice or care. She bit her lip to resist the urge to scream, tasting the coppery tang of
her own blood.
Erika could feel her bones cracking and twisting, each of them feeling like a thousand-degree fire was burning
at its core, scorching her flesh from the inside. From there, it wasn't long until a hulking black beast stood
in the snow, its once-torn and scarred-over shoulders heaving in a pained rhythm. Her breath formed tiny
white clouds in the cold air as the pain slowly receded from her body. Green eyes, glazed over by a newfound
wildness, stared at the light that seeped through the trees. The warmth felt inviting to the beast, but human
reason held the dark form back - she couldn't guarantee that she would stay in control among the crowd.

━ " 'M hungry..." Sebastian mumbled to Aiden, already eyeing another of the marshmallows. He hadn't exactly eaten dinner insomuch as occasionally snacking on things while waiting for the bonfire to start. Needless to say, his high metabolism and penchant to not eat consistent meals made him ravenous -- even if he tended to keep that fact to himself. Noting Aiden's expression at the sweetness of the marshmallow, however, he grabbed a graham cracker instead. As he nibbled at the cracker, he watched as many of his packmates slunk into the woods to shift. He probably should join them, he knew; it would certainly be warmer than sitting in his snow-sodden socks and jacket. It was too easy to tamp down the urge, though. Also, he didn't really want to leave Aiden's side yet, especially since his brother wouldn't be joining them in their shift.
His ears pricked as Aiden mumbled something to him, and he turned to look at his brother. With a faint shrug, he answered. "Not really... I mean, kinda, but I don't have to leave if you don't want me to." He met Aiden's gaze briefly, silently hoping his brother would ask him to stay. He wasn't keen on running with the rest of the shifted pack without Aiden beside him. Especially not with Judd as cross and keyed up as he was.
Rather than wait for Aiden's reply, he ducked his head and looked to Frieda. His gaze flicked to the cigarette in her hand. He gave another shrug, silently wondering how Aiden would mind it. "I don't mind it, but..." He trailed off, letting the rest of his words be carried away by the night air. His graham cracker eaten and gone, he hugged his arms close to himself and pressed his back against Aiden. His brother hadn't seemed to mind to contact so far, and if he did now, he would surely let Sebastian know.
