Down in the Valley 1x1 with Ravenshadow17

Lightheart padded along silently for a bit, taking care of where she placed her paws. She glanced at Nimblestar.

“Was there something you wanted to tell me?” She asked remembering his earlier behavior.

"Huh? Oh... nothing, really." Nimblestar said, looking towards her. "I wanted to ask about... what happened, but I can understand if you don't want to talk about it."

Lightheart sighed heavily. “I probably should talk about it. I haven’t yet... No one really to talk to it before now.” She took a deep breath to steady herself.

“I grew up in a small clan in a forest north of here. It was relatively peaceful and we were all incredibly close. My brother had just been announced deputy and I myself had only been a warrior for a few moons.” She let out a shuddering breath and stopped walking, glancing down at her paws.

“It happened in the middle of the night. A fire was started by two-legs. An accident, if their panic was any hint. It hadn’t rained in weeks and the forest was dry. The fire spread uncontrollably. We tried to escape. We just.. we were surrounded... I was the only one to escape.” She whispered, her voice heavy with grief.

Nimblestar listened in silence. As she finished he nodded dismally, saying. "... I'm so sorry, Lightheart. I know what it's like to loose your family."

Lightheart looked at Nimblestar sadly. “Does it get easier?” She asked quietly, her eyes cloudy.

"Well... in some ways, yes- but your never truly the same. Things will never be the same again." Nimblestar answered, flicking his tailtip slightly. "Sometimes it hurts more than it does at other times." He added, stopping for a minute to look into her eyes. "... But you have to remember they wouldn't want you ti give up. So you don't." With that he was silent and walked on.

Lightheart nodded. “You’re right. They wouldn’t want that. Thank you.” She said earnestly as she caught up.

Nimblestar gave her a sad smile and nodded, before looking on ahead, seeing Chickenpoppy stop to wait for them to catch up.

Lightheart noticed Chickenpoppy waiting and picked up her pace a bit. “How close are we?” She asked once she had caught up.

"It's going to take a bit to get there." Chickenpoppy responded. "At least ten more minutes."

With that he headed off again, this time taking his time so as to not use up his energy so fast.
