Phleg was asleep on the couch with Gnash on top of him, wrapped tightly in a warm blanket. With a full stomach and the chaos of the day behind him he was sleeping soundly. Until he felt a vibration and stirred a bit, trying to figure out what the noise was. Blinking in the dark he realized that Gnash was softly growling, his chest shaking. "Shhhhh, Gnash..." he whispered, trying to get the dog to calm down. He grew a little quieter, the dog's head locked on the window. Phleg stared sleepily, not understanding what was going on until he saw two shadows move past the window. Straining his ears he listened, watching Gnash who was tense. When there was a noise at the back of the house he shook the dog off of him so he could sit up, his hooves quietly tapping onto the floor as he slid from the couch. "Lets go," he whispered to the dog, letting him lead him through the house to go and find Seraphine. He moved as softly as he possibly could through the house. Although between his hooves and Gnash's claws it wasn't the most subtle action ever.

When they got to what he figured was her bedroom Gnash pushed the door opened and went in, Phleg following timidly, shutting the door behind him.

Seraphine jolted up when Phleg began to shake her from her deep sleep. She gasped and ripped her sleeping mask off her face. "What are you doing?! What's going on?!"

"Shhhhhh!" he hissed out. "I think there are people outside," he said quietly. As if on cue, he heard a click from downstairs.

The men quietly entered into the house through a back door that Basil had easily picked the lock on. They all crept inside, slowly going through the dark house to look for their prey.

She got quiet and listened. Phleg turned his head at a sound. Seraphine heard nothing. She still tried to remain quiet though. In a whisper she said, "Phleg I don't think anyone is here. The place is secured. Everything has been locked. I think you just heard the sounds of the night like the bugs or the animals, possibly even Gnash."

Something fell over downstairs and he gripped her arm. "They are in the house," he said startled. "Gnash was the one who woke me up, it wasn't him. Someone else is here."

"Really?" one of the cloaked men hissed in the dark.

"I can't see my own hand in front of my face!" another replied in an angry whisper.

At the sound of something crashing she placed her hand on top of Phleg's. She pulled the covers off of her and stood up. She pulled Phleg behind her. She walked over to a drawer and pulled a dagger out. She unscrewed the top to make sure it was full then screwed the top back on. "You and Gnash hide under the bed. Get in between the support bars, there's a hole you should be able to climb in where they can't see you if they look under. I'm going to check it out. Don't. Move. stay here." She quietly crept out the door, closing it behind her. She began making her way through the dark hallways toward where she heard the sound, holding her dagger at the ready.

Phleg didn't want her to go, but did what she told him to do. Sliding on his stomach he got under the bed, finding the place that she told him to hide and crawling up into the bars. Gnash followed him under the bed, and he kept a hand on the dog as he waited, tense and silent.

Basil was pressed in a doorway, his hood on and his cowl up so all that was visible was his eyes in the dark. For the moment he stood holding his breath as who he suspected was the girl crept past him towards where the others were. As she passed him he watched her walk, seeing the outline of a knife in her hand. Instead of disarming her, he headed towards the direction he had watched her come from. Quietly opening the door he slid into the room she had been in, closing the door back behind him.

Phleg heard someone come into the room, but he could instantly tell that it was not Seraphine. The soft booted foot crept into the room with practiced precision. He could tell that the person was searching the room, and he began to tremble. When the covers on the bed were shifted a bit he bit his lip, trying to keep tears from falling. The fabric of a cloak began to pool on the ground as the person leaned down.

Basil was not expecting to be eye to eye with a dog, and he certainly wasn't expecting it to lunge at him and latch onto his arm. The dog began to vigorously shake his arm back and forth, and he wasn't able to grab his dagger from his side as he was knocked over onto his side, trying to pry the dog's mouth from his arm and trying to keep himself from crying out.

Everyone in the house froze as they heard someone coming towards where the majority of them still were. Some of them ducked down, others moved into another room, and some just froze. One of them managed to get behind her, and was about to knock the knife from her hand when a loud thud and scrabbling sounded from the other room catching everyone off guard.

Seraphine turned around immediately at the sound of the thud. When she saw the cloaked figure standing behind her she took her dagger and slashed it across their chest and kicked them to the ground. She stabbed his hand as he reached for his dagger. His scream of pain caused more to move. They began to come for her. Some tripped over her miscellaneous items laying everywhere. For once she was thankful for the clutter. She grabbed the man's dagger and threw it at the closest one to her. It planted itself in the target's shoulder. This gave her the chance to make a run back towards the bedroom where the thud came from. Stepping over the man on the floor she sprinted. She threw the door open and saw another cloaked figure wallowing on the ground as Gnash refused to let go of his arm. She watched as the man eventually threw Gnash off of him. The dog whimpered as he slid across the ground.

"Gnash!" She turned her attention back to the man. She scowled at him and prepared herself for a fight as she watched him stand up."What are you doing in my house?"

Shakily rising to his feet he turned to the girl as she came back into the room. Behind her he could hear the others struggling to figure out what was going on. "Where is it?" Basil asked, reaching for his dagger, "We know that you have it. Hand it over, and we will leave," he said steadily.

From under the bed Phleg stared at the ground wide eyed and fearful. He tried to keep his unsteady breathing as quiet as he possibly could.

"I don't know what you're talking about 'it?'. There are a lot of things in this house that can be considered 'it. I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific." she growled. "Even then, I don't think my herbs and elixirs are worth hurting my dog over, or breaking into my house! You could just order them like a normal person."
