Knees drawn to his chin, Basil rested in the soft firelight. Everything was quiet, save for the light breathing of the sleepers. The weight of what they escaped made a wave of nausea wash over him. Only he and Ulicia would know just how lucky they were to have made it out. He knew something was off with his mother. There was a strange sense of guilt in not trusting his gut. The image of his mother crumpled in the floor lingered in his mind. Even though she had left him, and once again betrayed his trust, he couldn't help but hope that she was okay. Even that came with its own guilt.

Ulicia's sleeping form drew his attention once again. With slight hesitation, he said a silent prayer for her. Even in his mind it felt clumsy and unsure, and he didn't know if would even do any good. He didn't know what else to do, though. If ever there was a time for the Celestials to be watching and listening, it was then.

Ulicia sat up, gasping for air as if she had been drowning. She grabbed her throat and began to cough violently. Seraphine shot up from her deep sleep, grabbing the fire stoke she had placed beside her. Seraphine quickly surveyed the scene and made her way to Ulicia.

"Ulicia, can you hear me? Are you ok?"

She weakly nodded her head in response, unable to utter any words yet.

Basil was taken aback when Ulicia shot up, eyes widening at the sight. When he managed to move he bumbled to the kitchen and grabbed the pitcher of water and filled a cup, taking it over to Ulicia. He was at a loss, torn between fear and thanking the Celestials for the timing. More than anything he just felt relief. He leaned down, offering the cup to Ulicia. "You had everyone worried," he said, an almost imperceptible tremble in his voice. Phleg had sat up, drowsily rubbing his eyes. The rest of the house seemed quiet, though, and no one else had come out to see what was going on.

Ulicia grabbed the glass, hands shaking. She took a quick sip. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry you all. I... I had no idea that would happen. I'm not really even sure what happened." she looked around, "Where are we?"

"We're on a farm. I suppose we are safe. The walls haven't come down around us yet," he said, returning to his spot.

"I'm glad you're okay," Phleg said groggily. "I'm pretty sure you're the only reason we made it out."

"How long have we been here?"

"Not long, we arrived earlier today."

"How long are we going to stay?"

"We haven't really thought about it. Our main concern was you. We didn't want to travel too much with you being in that condition."

"In that case, since I'm better now, we need to get moving as quickly as possible. The longer we stay in one spot the more we risk being found again."

"Are you sure you can handle travel right now? Just because you're conscious, I wouldn't say you're better."

"I'll be fine. If Basil can travel with broken ribs, I can travel in my state."

Basil didn't like the topic being turned back around in his direction. "I'm not the one who magically opened a door, though."

"You have broken ribs?" Phleg asked.

"They are a lot better than they were," he said, waving it off again.

"My point still stands. I can travel."

"How about we see if you can even stand first?"

Ulicia nodded her head then hesitated. "Um, could I hold someone's hand to sturdy myself while trying to stand?"

Phleg got up and offered his hand to her. "Go slow," he said, more of a demand than he meant it to be.

"If you aren't ready, a day may not make that much of a difference," he said, knowing good and well that ever moment they stayed still was dangerous.

Ulicia took Phleg's request, and went slow. At first she when she tried she fell back down to her knees. She was determined though. She took a deep breath and stood up all the way with Phleg's help. "I should feel better after a night's rest, but we need to leave tomorrow. I may have to take frequent breaks, but it's better than staying in one spot for too long."
