"Playing stupid with me is not something you want to do. I know that you have him, and keeping him from us is the most foolish thing that you could possibly do," he said in a threatening tone. From the doorway there was a shout, and Basil turned his head. Gritting his teeth he looked back at her. "You won't be able to keep him from us. We will get him back," he said, quickly running from the room. The others were going out the door, dragging the man who had been cut. Basil picked up the man's legs and they all scattered, disappearing into the darkness. The one helping him carry the injured man was letting out a steady stream of curses. "What happened? We were fine, we had her?"

"Your father ordered us back! I don't know what happened. You think any of us are happy about this? All of this was foolish anyways. We should have let the rest of them know about this. If we are found out they will not be happy with any of us. This was stupid."

"Yes. Yes it was."

She watched as the man ran past her. She ran to the window and watched as they dispersed. When the coast was clear she ran back over to the bed and looked under. There she could see a slight glare in Phleg's eyes. She held out her hand, "They're gone now, it's alright to come out now."

Phleg shakily reached out for her hand, coming out of the hole slowly. "Are you sure they are gone?" he asked with a tremble in his voice.

"Positive. I saw them all run out. They're gone."She reassured him and herself. She carefully pulled him out from under the bed then walked over to Gnash. He was still laying on the ground. He lifted his head up and his droopy eyes met Seraphine's as she petted him. She took a deep breath then stood up. "We have to leave." She walked over to her closet and pulled out her traveling bag. "They know you're here, I don't know how but they do, and they won't stop until they have you. There's no stopping them from coming back tomorrow night. We have to leave as soon as possible." She began placing some basic necessities into the bag. Once it was packed she set it by the door. Next she walked into her closet and pulled out a bag of coins. She sighed, "I guess this could count as a rainy day." Placing it into the travel bag she made her way back to the closet. She spent a while going through her cloths until she finally had something. She turned back to Phleg and handed them to him. "Here. We'll need to disguise you. We will be doing some traveling during the day. Even though we will be traveling away from people for the most part, we still need to be cautious. Can't have you walking around as you are. While you put those on, I'm going to go down to the lab and see what elixirs I have left that I can grab. I'll be right back."

She ran down to the lab and quickly grabbed what she could and safely carried them up the stairs. She put them in a satchel and attached it to the bigger bag. She walked over to Phleg and fixed the clothes that he didn't have on properly. When he looked up at her she looked back. "We have to do something about your eyes. They are a dead give away." She stood up and pondered for a moment. She walked out of the room then came back several moments later. "Put these on." she handed him a pair of dark sunglasses. "If anyone asks, you are my younger brother who is blind. You are to stay by my side at all times, is that clear?" We will leave just before sunrise. I need to make sure that they don't have scouts waiting in the woods. Let's get something to eat, then we should be able to go."

As soon as they finished eating Seraphine went outside and listened. After waiting for awhile she determined it was safe. She went back inside and threw on her cloak, then threw the backpack on her back. She bent down to Gnash and attached his leash. Then handing the leash to Phleg she asked, "Ready?"

The three of them made their way outside. The sun had yet to start rising, the cold bitter wind nipping at Seraphine's cheeks. She took a deep breath then began leading them out into the woods.

Phleg was uncomfortable in the baggy clothes, the glasses making it harder for him to see since it was still so dark outside. He was thankful for the slight extra warmth that the clothes provided though. He tightly gripped the leash, keeping pace with them as best as he could despite the impairment. He didn't ask where they were going, and he really didn't think that it mattered as long as they were away from the people.

Seraphine didn't know where she was leading them. She had no end destination in mind. All she knew was that she had to get her and Phleg as far away from the city as possible. They were trained to track though. She didn't know what to do to make it harder for them to find the three of them. She never thought that would be something she would need to know. She regretted not learning the skill now.

They were quiet as they traveled, not wanting to draw any attention to themselves. When it hit noon Seraphine made a point to find a small pond for them to rest at. She handed Phleg an apple and pulled one out for herself. She cut a small piece off for Gnash and threw it up in the air where he caught it in his mouth. The scenery was oddly peaceful and with the sun at its highest peak the weather was nice. No cold wind and not blistering sun. It didn't seem to fit the situation at all.

By noon, he was already exhausted. It felt nice to stop for a while though, and he sat with his legs stretched out before him. With the sun shining on him he started to grow sleepy. He had hardly gotten any sleep, and wasn't used to having to go so far so fast on nothing. It was a lot for the little celestial to take in. "Where are we going to go?" he asked her drowsily.

Seraphine was quiet, lost in thought. Where were they going to go? She pondered and took a bite out of her apple. She looked around and looked up. Then it hit her. "My family owns a summer home farther up north. It allows them to study the stars more clearly during that time, but the place is abandoned during the winter because they say it's too cold. We'll head there first. We won't be able to stay there long though. If the cloaked figures know anything about who's daughter I am, there's a chance they'll be able to find out about this place pretty easily. This will at least give us enough time to formulate a plan and figure out what we need to do. I don't know about you, but I'd prefer to not spend the rest of my life running and hiding."

Seraphine took another bite of the apple. The thought of her parent's summer home brings some concern that she hadn't thought about till now. When the cloaked figures find out that Seraphine has run away with the celestial being, what extremes will they take to find her to get to him? She's only heard rumors about this group, but based on what shes heard, she wouldn't put it past them to use her parents and get whatever information they could from them, using whatever methods they saw fit. She could only hope that they wouldn't go that far. After all, it could prove to be more risky to involve more people into their mistake.

After a few more minutes of resting Seraphine stood up, offering a hand to Phleg. "We need to keep moving. We won't be able to make it to the house before nightfall, so we will need to find a better place to camp for the night. Plus, the more distance we can put between us and them the better." And with that the three of them began to make their way deeper into the woods.

The thought of spending the night in the woods was daunting to Phleg. Walking through them right before dawn had been bad enough. It was enough to wake him a bit, his worries plaguing his mind. He really didn't want to get caught by the black cloaked figures. It was clear that they really wanted him back though. The fact that Seraphine didn't just give him up to them and left her house to keep him away from them struck him as odd as well.

None of this solved his original problem though, of which he had mainly been distracted from. He needed to get home, and he had no idea how he was going to do that. The only people he could remotely think of being able to do that were the ones that brought him where he was, and he didn't think they would be so willing to help with that.

The forest was quiet, with the exception of a few birds that could tolerate the cold. It was strange being out here with little sign of life. Hardly any of the trees had leaves and almost all the animals were hibernating. Seraphine felt as if it was just them out there.It was both comforting but also a little unsettling.

Seraphine kept them walking until she could see the sky turn from blue to a light orange. She looked around and found an open spot of the woods where they could safely make a fire. The only problem was, because it was open there would be no way to conceal the smoke. If they had been followed, the fire would give away their location, but with it being winter in Darma, there was no way they could go without on. Seraphine was stepping out on a limb and was just going to assume they hadn't been followed. She walked over to the area and set her pack down. "We will build camp here for tonight. We need to find some sticks to build the fire. Do you want to try and collect those for me? I'll be right by your side, but I need to see if I can find some rocks to keep the fire from spreading uncontrollably. The quicker we can get this done the better. Once the sun sets we won't be able to see much. Let's go." The two of them made their way to the edge of the opening and began collecting the needed materials. They had collected enough just in time. Seraphine quickly assembled the rocks and threw the sticks in the middle. She pulled out her simple fire starter kit and in no time had a small flame going.

"Excellent. Now that we have that we should be good." Reaching into the pack she pulled out some more food. She handed Phleg a piece of the dried beef and began eating her own. Then she stopped, "Wait, can you even eat meat?" She never really considered it. All she had been feeding him was fruits, veggies, and pasta. Since he looked like a goat, did that mean he ate like a goat, therefore unable to eat meat? Or does the fact that he is a celestial allow him to?
