── RHYS THE COMPANY MAN
❝you're ─ you're really cool.❞

Rhys is pacing back and forth, biting his lip with his hand to his chin. He's not sure how long has passed at this point, but knew at some point they pulled him away from Zer0 to stitch up his cheek. He swiped his tongue over the dry blood that stained his lips, too worried to even notice. ❝What if he's not okay, buddy? What do I do then? I won't be able to forgive myself!❞ He's rambling to Warrior as he speaks, even if the beast isn't listening.

He jokes about death. Him dying, saying that it should have been him. In fact, at some point he knelt by Warrior and kept patting it and telling it in a baby voice, ❝It should've been me, buddy! I should've been the one on that bed! Yes, it should've been me! Yeah, me!❞

Time had passed since then. Rhys is still pacing, not even noticing Zer0 regaining consciousness. At the moment he was trying to stop crying, hugging himself as he had to cope with the fact that Zer0 was hurt and he could've stopped Jack.

If it wasn't for Warrior, neither of them would even be here. He continues pacing, shaking his head and mumbling to himself.

Zero can ear Rhys's baby talk from where he laid, huffing a bit as he first locates his helmet on the bedside table, grabs it and carefully slips it on before looking around. He finally just grabs one of the many pillows on the bed and shifts himself before throwing it at the back of Rhys head. That should get his attention, not to mention agitate his wounds. A low groan of pain and an arm going around his abdomen. That was a mistake, a grave mistake. That hurt far more then it should.

Warrior is panting and making a variety of sounds the entire time they get attention, tongue lolled out and tail wagging greatly, even licking at the mechanical hand. Then a pillow is suddenly thrown and Warrior hops to all fours before going after it, growling and hissing as he shreds the poor thing of fabric and feathers.

❝you're ─ you're really cool.❞

❝Wh─ Zer0!❞ Rhys goes to pick up the pillow when Warrior is suddenly all over it. He begins to turn, questioning who threw it, when he sees that Zer0 is awake. Making sure to not run into Warrior, he rushes to the assassin's bedside and out of instinct, begins to ramble, wiping his tears and trying to wave away the red from his face.

❝You could have gotten yourself killed, you idiot! What were you thinking, throwing yourself in front of me like that?!❞ He begins to scold, words spilling fast that he's unsure if Zer0 can even understand what he's saying. ❝You could have died, you know that! Died! And for what? Me?❞ Hypocrite. He places his hands on Zer0's helmet and touches their foreheads for a few seconds, trying to regain the breath he just lost from scolding Zer0. He places his lips on top of it, giving him a helmet kiss before leaning back, arms crossed and avoiding looking at him.

❝I'm sorry. You shouldn't have to hear that as soon as you wake.❞ He gets over his embarrassment and looks at him. ❝How... how do you feel?❞

Zero is somewhat amused with the scolding, lightly lifting his hands to place them on Rhys arms when Rhy grabs his helmet. He leans towards the touch when Rhys rests his forehead against assumingly theirs, then Rhys is suddenly kissing their forehead and in rapid succession both a set of ! form and \\\\'s form before Rhys is apologizing then asking how they're feeling.

"While pains familiar / We do not wish to be close / An estrange relationship." He stated so to tell rhys how they were still in pain. It wasn't as bad as when first obtained, but the pain was still there. This was definitely going to be a fun story to tell to the group. 'Oh, yeah, me and Rhys revived Jack in a way and nearly died before killing him ourselves. Oh, also, we somehow adopted a super tiny version of the warrior.' axton would probably leave the planet then and there. He should totally go tell that story right now.

❝you're ─ you're really cool.❞

❝I thought we were both done for.❞ Rhys admitted, dropping his hands to his sides. He stands up straight, rolling his shoulders. ❝We would be done for, if it wasn't for this guy!❞ He turns to look at Warrior, who seems to still be ripping into the pillow and it's smoking, and Rhys is across the room in a flash, shooing Warrior away and stomping out the flames.

It ends up leaving a scorch mark, but Rhys doesn't mind. He crouches to pat Warrior, and uses his real hand to stick his finger in front of it's face and shake it to say 'no'. ❝No, bad, buddy. You don't set the pillows on fire.❞ He scolds, before standing back up and walking back to Zer0, putting his hands together nervously and rubbing them before speaking.

❝Speaking of, I brought it back. It was just... really cute. I couldn't leave it there.❞ He looks at Zer0, giving him puppy dog eyes. ❝Can we keep it? Please? I'll clean up after it and everything! See, I just did, like right now. I'm a great parent, Zer0, I promise.❞

Oh my god he removed the warrior from the vault. Zero brings a hand up to his face, seemingly in a face palm as a wth pops up on his Helmet. He watches as Rhys dash' across the room to stop warrior from tearing up the pillow and putting out the fire while Warrior just stands there, glowing tongue hanging out of its mouth as it pants happily tail wagging and everything. Zero isn't even sure how to handle this. There had to be some kind of consequence to this.

Then Rhys is looking at him and begging to keep it and... Zero isn't sure how to tell that cute little pouty face no. "We will give a trail / moment it becomes uncontrolled / it is going back" He stated, agree'ing to keeping it for now. Moment the eridium beast messes up, they take it back to the vault, no ifs ands or buts about it. Zero was in to much pain to really fight it or take it back to the vault himself anyways. And if Rhys promised to take care of it and not let it get out of control then what harm could there be?

Rhys gasped, mouth agape with shock that Zer0 actually agreed, even though he seemed unamused at the fact he brought it. ❝Really?❞ Rhys questioned, and before he let Zer0 reply, he was giving him an extremely gentle side-hug, even crouching down for it. ❝Thanks! Now I need to figure out a name.❞ He began to tap his chin, before shrugging and releasing Zer0 from the hug. ❝I'll figure it out later.❞

He moved back, shifting weight from one foot to another. Suddenly, he seems to be in thought, and sad. ❝You were almost dead. You could have died because of me,❞ He looks at Zer0, frowning, ❝because I didn't crush Jack. I should have killed him as soon as he was trapped in the ECHO eye, I just... I didn't think it would matter.❞ He admits, sliding down to the floor beside the bed, glancing up at Zer0. ❝You're not mad at me, are you?❞

Zero looked at Rhys when he seemed to become upset and talk about what happened earlier, even sitting on the floor beside the bed. He laid back so to relax, but also to hang his hand off the bed side and rest it on rhys' shoulder. "No." He stated so to let Rhys know that he wasn't mad. There was no way they'd of known this would of ever happened if Rhys kept the echo eye or not.

Then warrior seemingly gallops over, nudging at Rhys mechanical arm before settling down beside him, tail thumping against the floor contently.

❝Good.❞ Rhys mumbled, starting to get tired. He laughed at the Warrior, looking over at him and starting to pet him with his mechanical arm. He stayed like that for a few minutes, before shrugging Zer0's hand off his shoulder so he could carefully crawl into the free space in the bed beside Zer0, wrapping an arm around him.

❝We're sleeping.❞ He declares, pulling Zer0 over to him carefully so they could cuddle. His eyes close and his breathing gets slower as he starts to relax. He felt like he hasn't been able to relax in a while, and this was helping him. Jack was gone for good and Rhys didn't have to worry about it anymore.

All they had to worry about was that assassin, but Rhys didn't care about it right now. They'd figure it out.

Warrior peeks up over the edge for a moment to watch the two before laying down once more. Seeming content.

Zero looks as Rhys crawls into the bed finally, wrapping an arms around him then in turn, wrapping arms around Rhys in a comforting hold. He shifted a bit, turned onto his uninjured side so to curl against the other without hesitation. A solid, warm and comforting body, something they greatly appreciated at the moment.
