Astra blinked but went over and kneeled in front of Rae. "Well that's good, isn't it? You know who your father is and might be able to have a relationship with him if you want one."

"But he's..." Rae bit her lip. "He..." Her eyes welled up suddenly and she wrapped her arms around Astra, burying her face in her shoulder. "I was fine without a father for years, but know he showed up and I don't know what to do. He doesn't look like he wants me."

Astra held her tightly, her heart breaking for her. "Well then you dont need him. You are an amazing little girl and if someone doesnt want you they are insane. If he doesnt want you then you are better off without him."

Rae sniffled. "But he's going to be hanging around. I'll get even less attention from mother. She's traded Mikah for me."

Astra shook her head before kissing the side of Rae's head. "That is not even a little bit true. Your mother just has a lot on her plate right now. She is worried about your little sister and for herself and now she has to deal with Mikah. She still loves you more than you realize Raelynn. In a few days it will all calm down and she will go back to giving you attention. Just try to be patient."

"Okay," she sniffed, leaning against Astra. She tucked her head under Astra's chin, snuggling against her.

Astra continued to hold her, hoping she could offer her at least a shred of the comfort she desired from her mother. "Can I get you anything?" She asked softly as she rubbed Rae's back with one of her hands.

"Can I stay with you for a little bit? Just for today?" Rae asked, gazing up at her with large doe eyes.

Astra nodded. "Of course. Whatever you want. Ill warn you though, my life isnt very fun or interesting."

"That's okay. I just don't want to be in the hut." She sniffed, pulling away and wiping her face.
