"Don't move." said Mary lowly, looking at David, "Stay right where you are... she'll calm down if we don't grab her." Mary had read about Alessa's history and knew the girl was starting to enter into an episode. If she was given the chance to calm down, she'd return to normal. Alessa was sitting on the floor with her knees at her chest; the orb was still around her and Scarlett.

David let go. Dang, he always seemed to mess up.

[Boomer]

After ten or so minutes, the orb began to fade away. Mary sighed in relief, happy that the girl didn't need to be drugged. "Alessa..." she murmured quietly, "Are you feeling okay now?" Alessa stiffly nodded as her eyes were shut. "Are you ready for the vaccines?" asked Mary, not wanting to push Alessa too quickly. Alessa shook her head, still trembling as she held onto Scarlett.

David stood silently, not wanting to get in the way.

[Boomer]

"I'm sure if you do well, David would get you something as a reward." mused Mary. She didn't like bribing kids, but Alessa was a special case. "It hurts too much..." winced Alessa, shaking her head again, "It really hurts my skin." "If you come over and sit down quietly, I'll put some numbing cream on your arms." said Mary, hoping Alessa would accept the deal. Alessa slowly got up and sat down on the gurney.

David nodded. “Yeah, of course I’ll get you something. You deserve it right now.”

[Boomer]

Although Alessa looked calmer, she kept her eyes on the door. She still had some fight left in her. Mary could sense this as the girl stared at the door. She grabbed the cream and lathered it on Alessa's arms. "David, come sit with her." she said, slowly moving to clean her paws.

David sat down next to Alessa, slowly and softly grabbing her paw. “Everything’s okay, sweetie,” he told her. “Just stay calm.”

[Boomer]

Alessa kept her eyes fixed on the door. Something about her eyes and the way she was sitting made her look feral. "You stay still and I won't have you pinned to the bed, deal?" asked Mary, staring into Alessa's eyes. She was hoping to break Alessa's gaze on the door. Alessa almost grunted as she kept her eyes on the door handle, ever so slightly turning it and opening the door. "Use your words, yes or no?" said Mary, her tone a bit firm. "Yes..." said Alessa quietly. Her eyes were glowing lightly, showing that she was using her power. "Oh, if you agree to stay still and calm, then stop trying to open the door." countered Mary, slightly narrowing her eyes. Alessa looked up, a bit shocked that Mary picked up on the subtle glow around her eyes.

David had noticed the glow, but didn’t know what it had meant. He stood, watching the two girls, unsure what to do. Alessa really hated shots. Was her childhood really this bad?
