Maria brought the pups to Mary's room. The three climbed onto Mary's bed and curled up with her. Maria sat close to the window as she looked out the window. She watched Aurora and Paul leaving. "Huh, that was quick..." she mumbled.

David woke up multiple times but always fell back to sleep afterwards. He had always imagined what would happen if he got into an accident of any kind - he was an author for Pete's sake - but he never realized how repetitive and exhausting and painful it would be. His head swam; he felt like his brain was melting. He missed Mary. He missed Alessa. He willed his body to get better quick. He just wanted to go home.

[Boomer]

After visiting with their mother for a while, the pups climbed off of her bed as they were ready to go home. Maria took the six pups out of the room, waving to her sister before leaving. She took them home and sighed, as she was totally exhausted. "We're getting pizza." she mumbled, calling the pizza place.

David woke up just before dusk. There was hospital food waiting for him on his nightstand. It wasn't the best, but it was food. It looked like everyone he knew besides Mary, who was probably resting as well, had left. He ate quickly and went back to bed. Rest meant getting better, and getting better meant getting home. He prayed as he slept, and he never prayed. He prayed for his legs, but more than that, he prayed for Mary. She mattered so much to him. He hoped she knew that.

Maria paid for the pizza once it arrived. She let the pups get their share first, then began to eat. Once the pups finished, they went upstairs to get ready for bed. Maria went into her room to nurse her girls.

David awoke in the morning to the sound of flashing and voices. There was no one in his room but a few doctors and his breakfast, but when he looked over at the door, there was a crowd of people outside, and cameramen.
"W-what's going on?" David croaked. He had a pulsing headache, but his legs felt mediocre-ly better.
One of the doctors who was blocking people from getting in showed David her phone. There was an online news article with a picture of him sleeping at the top. David gasped. He searched the phone and spotted a name.
Sleeping Beauty Publishing.
That was the name of Aurora's publishing company, the one David worked at. Someone that worked under his publisher posted something about him! That's why all these people were here.
"A few people stopped by your room in trickles to drop things off for you, beloved author, but this is on a whole new level. They won't leave. We're calling security, don't worry, sir," said another doctor. The phone was swiped from his paws.
David buried himself under the covers. "I'm sorry, all of you. This is my fault for passing out yesterday... Aurora probably took a picture of me and posted it..." David groaned. Again, he was causing others' suffering...

Mary woke up at dawn as usual. She pricked her ears as she heard lots of voices in the hallway. She shut her eyes, hoping that she wouldn't be bothered and hoped that her medicine wouldn't be late.

Alessa got up at seven, got dressed, then went to her desk to draw. She wanted to draw until it was time for her blood draw.

Soon enough everyone was gone. The few that stayed behind tried to snap pictures through the outside window, but a nurse drew the blinds. "Don't be sorry, dear. It's not your fault you passed out, don't be silly. We're the ones that sorry. It's our job to take care of sick and injured patients. You should keep trying to rest. Once the swelling in your legs has gone down in a week or longer, we'll try to get you to walk. If it hurts too much, or you physically cannot walk, you may be paralyzed." She gave him more medicine and everyone left from his room.
"Wait," David groaned. "I want to see Mary." Please.

Alessa drew until it was ten to eight. She got up and grabbed Scarlett before going downstairs. "Harry? Chrys?" she asked, looking around for them. The pup was hungry, but she knew she had to wait until Mary took her blood.

Chrys was in the kitchen, starting to make pancakes. "Oh, hey, sweetie!" she said when she saw Alessa. "I have your pills here and some breakfast. We can go get your blood drawn, but you wanted to get your clothes from David's, didn't you?"
