[Boomer]

"Pasta." she answered, "With alfredo... I can help you cook, if you'd like?" The girl wanted to learn how to cook; she was a bit weary of the oven, only because she was scared of burning herself.

[LilacSky]

"We have to have chicken as well. We can't always have pasta. You can start making the pasta - instructions are on the bag. I'll make the chicken. Steer clear, I have to open the oven."

[Boomer]

"I know, I mean that we could put the chicken with the pasta." she said quietly, glancing down. She moved out of the way as David got to the oven. "Are you mad at me?" she asked reluctantly.

[LilacSky]

"What? No. Was I acting that way? I'm sorry. No, I'm not mad at you. I just don't want you to get burned." He opened the oven and popped the chicken in. "Yes, we're having chicken and pasta."

[Boomer]

Alessa quickly pinched her thigh to keep herself from going into an episode. She was still sensitive around words that had to do with fire and burning. The pup dug her claws into her thigh until she felt warm, sticky blood on her leg.

[LilacSky]

"A-Alessa!" David looked on in horror. "Here, let me get a bandaid!" He rushed to the bathroom and came back. With shaking fingers, he softly applied the bandage. "Does it hurt? Did I do this?"

[Boomer]

Alessa kept her paw at her side, knowing she'd faint if she saw it. Her shiny, overgrown black claws were tinged with blood. She almost seemed like she was in a trance, not reacting to the throbbing pain.

David dialed Mary's number - even if this wasn't a big deal, he wouldn't let her go to the hospital like she had on the first or second day he'd been with Alessa. He rushed the pup to the bathroom to wash the blood off her in the sink, though not dumping her with water to drown her. Once she was clean, he sat her down on the closed toilet, waiting for Mary to pick up. As it rang, he talked to Alessa, waiting for her to respond. He remembered the chicken and hurried to turn the oven and stove off, then back to Alessa.

[Boomer]

Alessa didn't react as she was picked up and taken to have the blood washed off. She was reliving the night of the fire, but because she stopped herself from using her power, she was silently experiencing the pain and heat of the memories. Alessa could hear Mary's voice, but she didn't listen. As Mary asked David what was going on, Alessa continued to stare blankly at the wall.

"I was making dinner, and I think the oven triggered one of Alessa's episodes. She seemed fine at first, and I even warned her to stay away, but then she started bleeding, and I just want you to make sure she's okay. I cleaned and bandaged her wound and washed all the blood off of her, but she won't respond to me. Should I take her to you, or can you come here...? If you're busy I can take her to the hospital."
